Played all the demos now:

The Drifter - Best one, can't wait
Eastward - As you'd expect from chucklfish, not a must buy, bundle.
Moving Out - Looks fun but probably boring on your own.
Heavenly Bodies - Human Fall Flat in space in 2D, not sure if a serious game or silly yet!
Tactical Galactical - RTS with a 1950s vibe, nice graphics, might be one to watch out for.
Haven - Looks fun
Skatebird - Jeez, this looks poor, maybe just a bad demo. Camera and controls bad and geometry kept getting in the way.
Spiritfarer - Snake in a robe! Looks great.
System Shock - Looks pretty good so far for an alpha.
Wooden Nickel - Looks interesting but a super limited demo
Carrion - Crazy setting, controls need a little work, made more accurate.
Acid Knife - Ok, nothing we haven't seen before
Chicory - Not sure what the game is yet, need to know more.
Roki - Probably the 2nd best, looks great. Could use some voice acting though.

Steam should do this once a month.

Gujian 3 players... Does it run ok for you?
I'm playing the tutorial battle and the fps drop down like randomly, this with a ryzen 5 1600 and RTX 2060, 16 GB RAM and the game on SSD. 1080p

edit: forgot to mention. Low - Medium - High , it keeps doing the same
my cpu is old as hell (i5-3570k) and I get drops to 30/40s so I ended up locking it at half framerate and just downsampled it

I see I wasn't the only Demo scene sampler last night!

We all mostly agree on what worked and what didn't which is really cool everyone. One note about how I played, I usually use my xbone s controller for everything except point and click, fps and trackmania games, so that had an effect on how I felt games controlled. Carrion is probably the one that I felt needed a controller to get the most out of, specifically controlling the speed of your 'meat-eye' effectively and using your grabbing tentacle. Left and right analogue stick on point there.

Skatebird is a game that maybe should not have been included and classic example of why alpha products are not released to the public. The final product will be much improved but the money ask is going to go up against a lot of bad first impressions.

Played a small bit of Outer Wilds from the Twitter freebie yesterday, but wasn't feeling it. Sat down for a session and before I really knew it, it's almost 5AM and the credits are rolling.

Great game, shame about the whole EGSclusive thing. Hope folks here are willing to give it a chance once it comes to Steam, because it really is a special game.
Is the game replayable? Like, when you when you saw the credits, you know you want to replay it at some point (like when it hits Steam)?

Will probably just wait for Steam version, should be around 30th may-5th june I guess

Coming along nicely, with chivs overview in there I can finally remove the overloaded Xbox Companion app

Finally a big step to being a properly usable client. Now they just need much tighter integration with the Gamebar and it would be perfect

Replayable? Eh, not really. The main thing the game requires for you to finish it is knowledge. If you understand what to do you can beat it in 20 minutes.

Forgot about Spiritfarer, tried the demo.
I like it!
I dig chill games like this, it's also a good combo of simulation types with sea exploration, while being able to fish, farm, cook, build your ship or socialize with the NPCs like in Animal Crossing. And it has a dedicated HUG option for everyone, it's so fucking cute it makes my blood boil. And you will have to let all those poor things go, forever? I can already feel the tears. :cryblob:

Still very much in the dark about the Metroidvania aspects, now this is not the genre that I expected to mesh well with a cutesy life sim. But I guess there is plenty of islands to explore?

I actually really liked the use of "fear of missing out" to make me play these Demos. Played most of them. Skipped System Shock because I will probably get it anyway and Skatebird because of the bad impressions.

Some I didn't know about but are now probably day 1 (The Drifter, Spiritfarer), others that need a tweaks but have a lot of potential (Eastward, Haven) and finally some that look good but are not for me (Chicory, Moving out).

I hope that Valve does this again. Maybe tie in to the metagame of the big sales to give a bit more of a spotlight... but probably only after making the developers sign something saying that they will release it on Steam :p

Usually during sales, I'm more preoccupied with finding the best deals for a few select things that I want than discovering new stuff, so I dunno.

But they definitely need to do more demo events like this, if you want wishlists, especially combined with a big event being streamed, it's jackpot.
A good demo while being shown to hundreds of thousands of people is more of that fabled discoverability than indies could hope for. Especially since now it means plenty of people getting the game in their Steam newsfeed.

Tried Spiritfarer. A charming little game. Lovely visuals, and a relaxing, non-violent experience. I'm looking forward to the final game.
Like I previously mentioned The Drifter is another awesome game in the making. I love the visuals, the synth soundtrack, and the main character's narration, straight out of a noir film.

I also tried the System Shock demo, but I dropped it after just a few minutes. I liked the visuals, but the demo is very clumsy and buggy. I couldn't play audio logs, I had a black screen at the start (where I assume a video should play), it needs more time in the oven.
Heavenly Bodies is a decent diversion, but I'm expecting the gameplay to get extremely old fast, unless they manage to inject some variety in terms of content/objectives.
Carrion has some nice horror aesthetics, and I'm hopeful for the final game, but I fear gameplay will get old really fast. I'll maybe try it again later, and see if it "clicks" this time.

To add to my previous post, I managed to play one last demo before they stopped working (Haven), and it was enjoyable.
Lovely visual style and music, but the gameplay-loop appears to be a bit repetitive. You appear to start the days by doing the same thing: gathering fuel, and retrieving food, while exploring the alien world you're stuck in. Hopefully the game will expand a bit later on, so it maintains the players' interest.

Of the demos I played, The Drifter and Spiritfarer are now very high on my "wanted" list.

What I've noticed is that GPU and CPU usage is ok, so it's not like there's some spikes to 100% usage or the sort

Meaning cheaper in Steam. Currently it is -20%.
It shouldn't be cheaper for at least an extra month, I believe (since it's just been on sale). Dunno if there are exceptions or anything of the sort (and considering how shitty Rockstar have been when it comes to the Steam release, launching full price, then discounting a week after, I would think there's a chance of them doing it again).

Hey, it's award time and shit, but how come Ape Out isn't appearing on any list for sound design?
Any action taken in the game becomes part of the jazz soundtrack, percussions made out eviscerated bodies and crushed skulls, screams of agony and broken glass, whistling bombs and flamethrowers (yeah it's a weird game).
And that motherfucking ending is something else (SPOILERS obviously, but of a musical nature):

I'm surprised to say it, but Disco Elysium isn't clicking with me after a couple of hours. Usually, I won't give a game much more before I abandon it, but I really should love this one. Does it pick up? Maybe I'm just not in the right mindset for it right now.

thats the GFWL version, I don´t even know why they were still selling this version, the Steamworks is this one:
they aren't ... the store page is for the non-GOTY version, but - as you can see - you are buying the GOTY version anyway using that store page

Right. The store page actually allows to buy the GOTY version. I was confused by the fact that the purchase option was restored earlier.

I was underwhelmed by the music tbh, the trailer oversold it

Finished up a bunch of Company of Heroes campaign missions, got a bit repetive and the games feels dated so I stopped playing, but for a game released in 2006 I got 18 good hours out of it. And suprisingly, there are some players online, but Im not really good at the game (played campaign on medium), so I won't play online, I assume those who play online are really veterans.

Do you guys think FFVII Remake will be releases on PC in 2021?

Im quite interested in the game, but I suck at JRPGs despite that I like them, so cheat engine and trainers are why I buy all my JRPGs on PC (pls Atlus, give me Persona 4 and 5 on PC). So I have yet to finish P4 and P5.

I did actually complete Xenoblade 2 on my Switch though, but played it on easy.

No idea but I second a Persona 4 and 5 release on PC, even thought I've played through both enough for one lifetime. Persona 5 needs a fucking trainer in the worst way.

My only hope is that SE has released pretty much all FF games on Steam and I bet the PC version will sell at least 1 million copies.

I have not played any of the other FF games, but FFVI is installed in my library and will play it at some point.

I mean why wouldn't it after the one year exclusivity on ps4 ?

I don't think Persona is ever happening on pc tho, and thats for the better tbh

Gives people a reason to have a dedicated hardware in order to get stuff they like. If persona is ever happening on pc, then people will want SMT and whatnot and I'm really not in favor of that personally

Like, I don't want Mario / Zelda on pc either

That sounds super weird and console warrior like. The more people who get's to play a game, the better. Not everyone can afford a gaming PC so consoles exists for them and that's a good thing.

MS has realized it, it's why they release their games on PC and some stuff on Switch.

Games being released on multiple platforms, game pass/subs services, cloud services, it's all about making games available to as many people as possible.

It's why Half Life Alyx is available on all PCVR headsets and there is a possibiltiy for a PSVR2 port.

I can't follow that sort of logic at all. Why wouldn't want all games to be available everywhere?

You don't get it I think, its basically treating pc like second class citizens which until that point where Atlus decided to make more profit, were undeserving of having the game

Btw, Persona isn't available on other platforms too. I don't think its weird to have a brand you identify with if that's what you fancy in life, I'm just saying that it makes sense

The only reasonable argument, one I ascribe too, it is that you would like the lead development platform to be on hardware powerful enough for the dev to complete their vision. If there is something that is so hopelessly behind that it could hold over platforms back via "lowest common dominator" that's not ideal.

A nitpick is full priced re releases, remasters and late ports. The work done to port these games/remaster them was not free and they deserve to get paid. However, if I can get the original cheaper, thats what I do.

Otherwise, let the spice flow.
