A plane from Teneriffa is coming to my town. It has been reported that there is someone got infected by the Corona virus in Teneriffa. I hope those in the plane aren't infected :(

The new Netflix show got me into a Witcher fever so last month I've decided to play through Thronebreaker. It took me almost 2 months but today I've finally finished it and I'm really glad it's over. The game is just too long and after the halfway point it really dragged out.

I'll just post my steam review:

I can recommend this title to people who enjoy card games and fans of the Witcher universe.

The storytelling is really engaging thanks to the absolutely superb voice acting and the lovely painting-like artstyle. The choices you're faced with feel impactful and are seldom just black and white but rather make you always second guess yourself.

The card game mechanics are fun but it gets way too easy after a few hours to the point where I've decided to just stick to the main story. I wish I would have skipped them from the beginning because the game is way too long for it's own good. However I did like the optional puzzle battles which some of them had really funny easter eggs.

One huge oversight though is that there are no deck slots whatsoever. That was rather disappointing because you can clearly see great synergies between some cards which should encourage you to tinker with different builds. But having to remake your whole deck every time you want to switch it up is just too much work so I mostly stuck with just a single deck. (I played with a controller so it might be not such a hassle with M/K)

There's a lot of fun to be had thanks to outstanding production quality and writing but the game is definitely not without it's flaws.

8/10

OMG PC is dead.
But the vega 64 has even more mega-quantum flops!
Thanks PC Gamer! Everybody owning one got a free performance upgrade thanks to tech click-bait titles!

I hate that stupid show.

We just got the first two confirmed COVID-19 cases in my city (which are also the first in Austria). Was only a matter of time given the northern Italy situation.

I'm not concerned at all, but some people are getting a bit agitated.

Which is really strange because more people die annually of your common variety flu at an astronomically higher rate but nobody is in a panic over that.

Hell even that avian flu outbreak some years ago was way more contagious & deadly as well.

I don't get all the fuss.

Lethality rates are within a normal flu, though it seems to be a bit more contagious, presumably since being a new viral strait there's less natural immune defence.

Unless you're a child or elderly person, and you don't wait forever to get treatment, you'll be fine either way, most likely. Still, basic things like hygiene (washing hands) can go a long way, as usual.

Normal flu mortality rate is 0.095%
Coronavirus mortality rate is 2% and higher for elderly

Not to mention that you can recover in days from flu, even do your usual activities while being affected. With Coronavirus, you'll be bed-ridden for weeks and you might also catch pneumonia and other nasty diseases affecting your organs.

Luckily, children are (for some reason) largely unaffected.

Both of you, stay safe, however, regular flu is hitting harder this year and it has made way more damage than COVID-19, just remember that it's another virus but not lethal if you are not on the risk demographic zone (old person, respiration issues, etc...)
Normal flu mortality rate is 0.095%
Coronavirus mortality rate is 2% and much higher for elderly
However, % is way more drastic but once you check the numbers regular flu is scarier and more pandemic than the covid, it's the same as the % of steam numbers, context and data is key ;D

Make sure you have a 1-2 weeks of nonperishable foodstuff stocked up, in case you get a supermarket run like in Italy.
(Good advice no matter whether there's a viral outbreak or not)

As I said I'm not concerned at all. If anything, the only thing that slightly worries me is if there are shortages because of people starting to hoard stuff.

Edit:

Yeah, exactly.

Mix between journos writing daily articles about it and the fact that it continues spreading.
It has been my point since the start that compared to vanilla flu death rate, it is not that worrying. But I can't help but be worried like everybody else when I see new unrelated infection zones.
The worry is not only for oneself, I got a 70 yo mother I would really prefer to see in good health for the longest time. People with social and sexual lives have kids, or so it is said, so there is another big worry source.

Not to mention that, in Europe at least, the great plague has had an impact of the psyche of people for centuries, and seeing terms like pandemic, or people being blocked on a boat in Japan, hit too close to these collective unconscious traumas.

I have some respiratory difficulty myself. So I'm shitting some bricks today. But as I can never do things simple, I have also other health issues that could cause that and I'm big on general anxiousness, making knowing if it's real or psy a tad more difficult right now.

How about actually making great games people actually like to play, so that in turn, they will recommend it to their friends? Ever think about that, Phil?
who will have time for friends if we're all watching videos to earn in-game currency/items?
His overall sentiment isn't bad - new ways to get gamers engaged means finding news way for devs to make money aside from just one time sales and mtx, but looking at mobile is not something I think he should be doing if he wants sustainability

Whoa, I didn't know anyone actually got the distribution rights for MoM.

Amazing game.
but wait ... there's more:

After 25 years Master of Magic gets a DLC! Explore new strategies and experience Master of Magic at its best with Caster of Magic, a new DLC that adds dozens of options and tons of content to the base game. Enjoy the unlimited replayability that Caster of Magic adds to the base game, thanks to hundreds of new settings and an improved wizard customization. Will you dominate your opponents with your new spells and units, or will you surrender?

Caster of Magic started out as a mod, championed by Seravy and building on top of the already popular community patch. Caster of Magic has been a fan favorite of the Master of Magic community and we are pleased to be able to work with Seravy to officially integrate Caster of Magic, giving him the recognition he deserves.

Whoa²

That said, why no cloud saves? I can see not integrating achievments since that would be somewhat challenging (interesting challenge though), but cloud saves should be trivial.

I've been surprised by the number of non-cloud Steam games I've played recently. Like it's not a big deal or anything, but the string of them in a row has gotten me into the habit of carrying a data stick between my 2 gaming PCs at home.

Hypnospace Outlaw
UnReal World
ES2: Daggerfall Unity (non-Steam)
Thief Gold
Thief Simulator (guess I'm on a klepto-kick, lol)
Sword of the Stars: The Pit

Pretty atypical as I haven't had this issue in as long as I can remember.

Not a big deal as I said, but in its absence it sure makes you appreciate the feature.
