Over the weekend, I finished Bleed on Normal which turned out to be a fun mix of platforming, twin-stick shooting and acting all like Neo from the Matrix. It's the first game I've beaten in 2019

The game was so fun and challenging that I'm going back to it so I can unlock the rest of the achievements.
It's also fun in co-op. If you can, try it with a friend. It's really good!

Genital Jousting courtesy of Rockin' Ranger :coffee-blob:. The story's actually pretty cool, and the game had me grinning all the time lol.

Would post some screenshots on the thread but they are obviously nsfw.

Also it's got cute dachsunds!

Played some more Book of Demons
Look out all, I will take the number 1 spot!
I'm still going deeper, it gets fun past the final boss. Heaps of enemies, you get auto assigned crappy cards, bosses disable cards etc...

I've bought Redout + all DLC yesterday. Such an amazing game, had no idea it was so good!

Also playing What Remains of Edith Finch. Great game, but I need to play it in small bursts because the narrow FOV makes me feel uncomfortable.

I've tried the latest patch in Assassin's Creed Odyssey: I'll need to tweak my archer set, as headshots are not automatically critical hits anymore (I'll miss killing leaders from outside the forts with the Ghost Arrow ability).
But my assassin set is so good right now, that I'm simply using that one and murdering everything in sight with the Rush Assassination ability.

Oh, and I've also finally finished the quests in Messara! Pretty awesome area overall. I'll try to advance the main storyline next, as I'm still on chapter 7 I think...

Man, I should really get back to Odyssey. Been a while since I last played it.

I'm currently playing through the last Borderlands DLC Claptrap's Robot Revolution and I'm probably going to restart Life is Strange: Before the Storm today.

I decided to try and jump back into Blue Rider, a game I love. I'd love to beat this game one day, but it can be tough when you get to the bosses. However, the screen tearing and stuttering sucks... and that really killed my mood. I'm going through the current phase of, "What do I play?" Sadly, I have so many games I haven't played.

Finished with Celeste (no B-sides, I'll do these later) and started Crosscode. Game is pretty great so far but there are times where my brain thinks I can't jump or climb in different areas because of the perspective.

I planned to finish Xanadu Next yesterday, but the last dungeon is way too big and there is a monster that has a skill that levels down the hero. Which is just a pure crap. First it's not a curse that can be nullified, it's a permanent punishment and it takes forever to level up.

I did the first Crash and Spyro recently (thoughts are in the X completed games of the year thread) so I was hesitant to continue my plan of going back to Crash 2 and then Spyro 2, and so forth.

Well, I went back to Crash 2 finally. And with all the additions and some improvement to the feel of movement I'm actually enjoying it all right. I got all the gems and one relic in the first set of levels and didn't exactly hate it (though Crash Dash with the boulder sucked getting all the boxes). It still doesn't feel as tight as this popular of a series should. Especially compared to how good Spyro 1 felt. But I can tell there were improvements and more leniency going from the first game to the second.

But what the hell is up with the walking on ice physics. I'm positive this is the worst I've ever experienced in any game without exaggeration. It doesn't really feel like it makes proper sense and I've even had it slingshot me backwards after jumping and trying to move forward. So terrible.

Now I'm curious how Crash 3 fares. Does it improve the feel of the game yet again or did Crash 2 set the bar for the series with its improvements?

Been prodding at Dad of War and I'm not sure if I enjoy the game. I'm enjoying the world and pacing for the most part but not so much the RPG elements and some degree combat mainly due to the RPG style progression.

I've also been playing Crosscode as my lunchtime game and I've been enjoying that, just made it to the first dungeon and some of the puzzles are already hurting my brain D:

Then I was lucky enough to get a copy of Shadow of the Tomb Raider so I started that last night and it is rather pretty and runs quite nicely so far on my machine. Can't wait to get stuck into it over the weekend!

Finally quite a bit of Beat Saber to add an extra bit of cardio into my evening workouts. Really enjoyable rhythm game and highly suggest anyone with a VR headset to pick it up! I'm so close to 100% KD/A song on expert, I keep missing one or two notes though :(

I've decided I'm going to play Poi today; I'm not going to the gym today and, since I beat the game on Switch, I should be able to burn through it fairly quickly. Honestly, I just really want to play it again. Plus, it looks really nice on PC. After that, I will be playing a game I've beaten twice... but I want to play it on PC: Sunset Overdrive. I installed it last night and I'm ready to do it again. So, yeah, I'd like to get through those two in January. I may toss in a quickie or two... which seems to be most of the games I beat in January. #Basic

I picked up Moonlighter for something to tide me over until Kingdom Hearts (and I'd been eyeing it anyway) and it is so addicting. It's not too roguelike-y and I think I might enjoy the shopkeeper loop more than I like the dungeon crawling. It's a good "I have 30 minutes" game even though I typically play for hours at a time.

Now finished the Witcher and strongly considering going straight into the second game now (looking up some QoL mods to see if I should go vanilla or not - the walk speed mod for the first game was damn near essential). I'd been advised to give the first game a miss by a few people, but I'm glad I played it...admittedly it did feel very fetch questy, going from person A to location B back to person A to speak to person B, and I felt that I wasn't doing much aside from walking to place to place. Enjoyed the combat despite it's unusualness and had no issues with it's appearance, although given the toxicity meter wasn't explained I actually thought my GPU was dying because of what I red artefact spots popping up on screen. Turns out that was the game pranking me...

Kenshi atm with Everspace and Y0 on the side. Reason why I am talking a long time with Y0 is mainly due to being on voice chat as that game is mostly story/cutscenes and I feel overwhelmed as I may miss stuff.

Kenshi is pretty good. I got some interesting stories going on atm.

I started yesterday YIIK: a Postmodern RPG and I just asked for a refund. The music in the game is nice, the surreal style is an interesting setting and I don't get bothered by a douche protagonist though the writing and the dubbing were annoying me a lot, and to help it the crashed and I forgot to save before.

I'm currently playing Breath of the Wild. I'm honestly surprised at just how good and in particular how well-designed it is.

I'll probably make a longer post or thread about it once I'm done, but they managed to create a open world game which, in many ways, actually derives design strengths from being open world rather than being hampered by it. And the way rewards are structured -- and honestly, even the lack of a traditional RPG leveling system -- means that they can provide desireable rewards while also keeping a decent difficulty curve, without severe level scaling. But maybe the best thing about it to me is how well-integrated all the mechanics are with the world and story -- it really feels like the quest and setting is specifically built to support the game design, which is how it should be in a Zelda game.

I guess my expectations were too low due to its insanely high rankings :p
(Also, it helps that it runs pretty solidly at 4k/60FPS in CEMU)

To borrow Dark Souls' nomenclature: Git gud. :wd_p:

But seriously, Castle Strangerock is probably one of the best dungeon design Falcom has ever conceived outside Brandish series, perhaps. I hope you're leveling up the guardians sufficiently since the last boss is rather tough.
--

I didn't end up finishing FFXII nor buying either Catherine Classic or Tales of Vesperia.

Currently I'm playing through Shin Megami Tensei IV, and Valkyria Chronicles 4. SMT IV feels kind of a weird game to me. Apart from the SMT mechanics I'm already familiar with, it didn't evoke the same sense of hopelessness I found in SMT Nocturne. The game is also a handheld game, so I didn't feel the same sense of scale I get from Nocturne's level design. Compounded with the visual novel-styled storytelling which I feel like a regression from the in-game cutscenes we had in Nocturne. Nevertheless, the QoL stuff I found like Demon Compedium search function is a welcome addition, and the story is interesting enough so far.

I'm only at the second mission of VC4 and the game feels instantly familiar, since the original VC is one of my favourite SRPGs. Apart from the fact that the game runs like a dream at 150% IR scale, it took all the good stuff from the first game and expand upon it. I bought all the DLCs too so I'll be plenty occupied from the next few weeks.

I just finally settled in after a long move.

I decided to play some Resident Evil before the remake hits. I picked the Director's Cut version this time. After so many years of playing REmake, I forgot how terrifying the scene up to discovering Forest is in the original.

I also played and finished Firewatch for the first time. Since Valve acquired Campo Santo, I thought I should play it. I also remember it getting a lot of praise when it came out. Suffice to say I really enjoyed the ~7 or so hours it took to finish it. Your relationship with the other core character, and the story itself kept me pretty engaged. I'm looking forward to In the Valley of Gods now.

I'll probably continue to play short games for a little while before starting some of the RPGs I've been eager to play.

I did not have the patience to git gud. Cheated my way to the final boss and finished the game.

I continued with Darksiders yesterday. Finished Black Thorne and Eden, now I have to revisit all the places to find all the sword pieces that are scattered all over the world. Time to find all the collectibles too

After finishing Night in the Woods, I played a series of short games that I got during the sale (Bladed Fury, 1979, GRIS) and anothe short game that I've had for a while (Brothers - A tale of two sons). It felt nice to play (and finish) short games for a while.

Yesterday I started Tyranny but I haven't played much to have an opinion on the game.

One thing I liked about Nocturne was the more minimalistc story approach. I didn't did like the game even if except for the early game and the end game (at least of the neutral route) felt too easy.

Sparse storytelling style is probably one of the things I love the most from the dungeon crawlers I enjoyed. As for Nocturne, I think the TDE route was significantly harder than neutral since you need a certain ability from a rare demon to be able to damage the true final boss.

Damn, I just realized I said I DIDN'T like the game. When in fact, I DID like it. I complain about difficulty was more about SMT IV. I loved the difficulty of Nocturne (and yeah, getting that pierce (?) ability for the true final boss was very much necessary).

PS. I should re-read what I write when I get distracted :p.

Still collecting shards for the Armageddon blade in Darksiders. Decided to not collect all the life and wrath shards and finish the game as soon as possible. I have already done that once in the original version, don't really feel like doing so again. But I did collect all parts of the Abyssal Armor

Playing another Vortex campaign in Total War Warhammer 2 with Sartosa, the 3rd Vampire Coast faction. It's the first time I'm playing on very hard difficulty and hard battles, but I'm doing fine so far. Such a great game!
