The next 10 days are insane in terms of releases!
I mean, there's frequently cool games around all year, and I buy a lot of stuff that I'll get to eventually (or at least I would like to think I'll get to
), but it's not something I absolutely can't wait to play.
But these 10 days are insane!
Besides games of various interest I already pre-ordered, or helped crowdfund (Trials of Mana, XCOM: Chimera Squad, Help Will Come Tomorrow, 112 Operator, ...), and plenty more I would like to get, but will have to leave for another time, there's 3 games I really can't wait to get my hands on:
INTI CREATES are a team I'm very found of, since they are one of the few teams that carries on the banner of Japanese 8-bit/16-bit side-scrollers that I particularly like.
Mega Man 9 was kind of a dream game to me, and it and Mega Man 2 are my favourite entries in the series. Their games never fail to engage me (I'm currently finally playing Blaster Master Zero, and it's another top notch game), so I won't even hesitate to get their new one.
The game is out tomorrow, it will cost $39.99USD/€39.99/£35.99, and it's a "complete edition" of sorts, since it includes all DLCs previously released.
Yeah, the game is more expensive than what most people are willing to pay for this kind of game, but that's basically what one of their Nintendo DS games cost me, so I'm totally fine with that.
Do note, because they frequently have time-limited promotions on their games during launch, but they suck at advertising them (unless you watch their trailers until the end, you will surely miss the information), and this one is no exception:
purchases before May 4th will include the early-adopter bonus/DLC Striker Gear equipment items.
Here's a trailer that explains what the game is about:
I love beat'em ups, and the Streets of Rage series is a personal favourite. In fact, Streets of Rage 2 is my favourite game in the genre, period.
I had some initial mixed-feelings about Streets of Rage 4, since I would prefer the game to be developed by a Japanese team familiar with the series, a pixel-art art-style (yeah, call me crazy, but I'm not too found of the look of the new entry; it looks nice and all, but it's not what I wanted from a new sequel to the series), and a full soundtrack done by Yuzo Koshiro, since the series is, in my mind, very closely tied to his kick-ass soundtracks (especially for games 1 and 2).
But, I just had to watch a few seconds of the recent "retro" trailer, and as soon as one of Koshiro's new tracks kicks in (it plays until around the 00:40 mark), I was fully on board.
Here's that trailer:
What can I say about Cloudpunk. I mean, look at those screenshots/videos!
I've been anticipating this one since 2018, when it was announced. The visuals, and the cyberpunk setting, ensured I would be buying this one.
Exploring a cyberpunk setting, on foot and on hover car, interacting with characters, and doing quests, and your actions/choices will impact the proceedings. Yeah, this one appears to be right up my alley.
Here's a trailer:
EDIT: I forgot one other title! I mean, I even placed it as number 3 on my wishlist!
I'm a sucker for old-school shmups, of the non-bullet hell kind, so this one is surely a day-one purchase, both because of the title itself, but also to hopefully show to CITY CONNECTION that there's interest in the genre on the platform, since it's been a while since we had an older shmup available on Steam.
