An indie event. Not too surprising but...
Honestly I am not all that interested in non-Point and Click and adventure style indie games.

Mor, do you have any info about when will this properly "start" (I mean, announcements, ...)?
For now, the account is empty.

How's the replayability? I was interested in the game, but lost interest because the abnormalities seems to have fixed characteristics. The enjoyment of SCP etc. is discovery of unknown things. Felt like after few playthroughs only management would be left without none of the mystery. Specifically, does anything change between each playthrough, like how unidentified scroll of same color would have different effects in each session of roguelike?
Can't speak to replayability as I haven't finished a single run yet.

Might be worth noting that the game is LONG. Like 60-80 hours your first time through. So if you're worried about bang for your buck, you can put those fears to rest.

Dynamics do not change for individual abnormalities. Their character sheets are set. But there are over a hundred unique ones in the game so that should presumably keep you busy for a while.

Also note that if you team-wipe, when you go back to Day One, you keep all your research and farmed gear. At the start of each day you pick from three randomized containment boxes (level appropriate). Abnormalities that you've already researched will have their name on the box, ones that you haven't are just a code number. So you don't have to repeat any research if you don't want to. Keeps the pace brisk.

I don't know if everyone noticed it, but this month, we have another month filled with cool new releases.
While we don't have many "big names", there's a lot of cool stuff releasing almost every day.

Just this week, we have:

I'd be an early adopter for this if it wasn't an EA single-player title. But I will be all over it when it hits 1.0.

Maybe I'll go back to finish up the first one.

Welp, thanks for through recommendation but it's not for me then. Stuff carrying over to the next session is one of my strongest pet peeves and why I do not play most rogue-lites. Unlocks carrying over I can accept but upgrades straight up persisting? Never had a game where it didn't lead to grindfest which is antithesis of roguelike (win because of better undersanding of the game).

Reminder that VirtuaVerse will be released tomorrow!

And with some sweet regional pricing!

(I can't say if price is sweet everywhere, but at least they made an effort, which is something most other devs don't even bother doing.)

Full disclosure: the programmer is a friend of mine.
I can vouch for his deep love for point and click adventures, and for his love of cyberpunk, sometimes expressed with some really crazy AF pet projects.

Fair enough.

One note on gear persistence is that equip-ability is gated by character stat levels. So you can't wear end-game weapons/armor at the start of a new run.

I still understand your take on the various definitions & mechanics of Rouge.

While, like with most early access titles, I probably won't be playing it until it fully launches, these guys have my money on day one. 😊

I backed the original game on kickstarter, and they were awesome in terms of updates, content and reward delivery, (...).
On top of that, their post-launch support of the game was awesome, with plenty of significant content updates made throughout a long period of time.

So, basically this is the kind of developer I like supporting.
If they had a new crowdfunding campaign, I would be there. Instead, they are launching on early access, but they'll get my money either way. :)
It helps that, while I don't know the price yet, this stand-alone expansion will apparently be cheaper than the original game, which was already quite affordable.

Earlier today I said I had a list of 8 titles (it was actually 9, but I since then I added a couple more, so it will probably be 11) that I would be buying on day one this month.
This is one of them. ;)
Been following it for some time.

So the indie event is by the kinda funny people.

Also when I was in school this is the game that a lot of us wanted to play. And it seems to be a very well known game.

By the way this video is for a song, the song just happens to take sound samples from the game

When I was in third grade. My classmates would fight over who would get to play next sort of a thing.

I picked up Rain World recently and it's good. Don't take it from me though, take it from this guy:

Playing on m&kb, it was utterly impossible to control. I gave it a try, I really did. Games like these are right up my alley and I wanted to enjoy it, yet couldn't because of how impossible to figure out the controls were.

It's a damn shame because this looks like a fantastic, cult game in many respects.

Edit : god the typos.

Maybe not a popular opinion but I'd like the E3 (and other similar events) to close once and for all. I'm liking the idea of having a shit ton of events throughout the summer.
I wouldn't go as far, but I'll tell you this: in the present, I fail to understand how the industry continues to revolve around these events, that fail to engage with much of their customer base.

Not everyone lives in Tokyo, or Los Angeles.
In fact, most people live outside of these big centres. More: as seen by stats, many people who frequently buy games, like myself, doesn't live in the US, the UK, Japan, or Germany.
So, we are automatically excluded from these events, we never get to engage with these developers, we never get to play their convention demos, (...).

When I had an Xbox 360, one time Microsoft did a heavy push to have a "digital convention" of sorts during an E3, and that year as soon as they showed certain games in their conference (that was streamed through the console menus), they uploaded all these trailers, and demos, so that those at home could try them. That was really neat. And, I would say, the way to make people worldwide engaged.

And now, several indie publishers have been doing similar things on Steam (like the recent LudoNarraCon, and apparently Valve has a similar event next month).
And, I certainly welcome it.

Sure, I know these conventions are useful to make connections, but in terms of getting people to know about your game, and getting people to care about your game, digital is the way to go. You have access to a lot more people.

When things get back to "normal", I hope all these digital events result in the next E3 to be a mixed event, with demos being available both on booths, and digitally on the several platforms, and more streamable events and panels.

What is the best sound set up that you can get for the N/S? Is HDMI the only option?

I have my stuff hooked up to my computer monitor, the audio on that thing is not that great.

That is why I ended up buying a DAC to connect my PS4 and Xbox 360 to my Logitech G560 speakers. I'm lucky that I have an OG PS4 and not a PS4 slim or something like that because that one doesn't have an optic port. So I connect an optic port from the consoles to the optic port on the DAC and then I connect the DAC to my speakers by using an AUX cable.

In the past I tried to connect the AUX cable to my DS4 controller and while I was able to get audio that way it was not the most idea because there was a cable sticking out of the controller and this would limit the way that I could place down the controller. When I compare sound of audio playing from the DS4 controller to audio coming from the PS4, the audio was way louder and better sounding when I connected directly to the PS4. I'm glad that I purchased the DAC.

But what about with the N/S? Is the only way to connect to it is with the headphone jack? With the PS4 and Xbox 360 and using the DAC I was able to get really nice sound and bass. It was like having a small home theater in my room. But from what I recall just connecting directly to the N/S doesn't really improve much.

In the past I thought that the N/S now had Bluetooth support and I was just going to connect to my speakers via Bluetooth but it would seem that you can't actually do that?

So what other options do I have or did Nintendo just not pay much attention to audio solutions for the system? Which I guess sort of makes sense seeing how Nintendo was not focused on the multi media component of the system? I don't think you can even play video or music on the system at all...which you could do on stuff the Xbox 360 and PS3.

I like E3. I've never been there, mind you, but sometimes I think about the old days and the frustration of having to wait for magazines just to see what went down, and now being able to watch it live on my fucking phone always reminds me of how far we've come.

Cyberpunk 2077 must be a mindblowingly well selling game on Steam/GOG.

  • Most wishlisted game on Steam
  • 13th place on Steams global best seller list and it's not coming out for another 4 months
  • 96 people on my friend list has wishlisted it, 16 already own it
I expect great numbers for concurrent players during the week of release.

Just another pointless TV show, trying to tell you how great it all is while you can't touch stuff and you can't play with stuff. Obviously you can't touch the things, but play them you should be able to for sure. For the medium to be all about the interaction between the player and the game I find the idea of E3 to be ancient tier garbage.

I have a soft spot for the bombastic press conferences. I'm old. I'm fully aware of how useless they are though.

Never mind me, just randomly posting some screenshots of ATOM RPG Trudograd to hype up today's release... :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Looks like something I'd enjoy, thanks for posting. I have this weird fascination for the "survival in a post apocalyptic world" setting.

Anyone interested in Factorio, Satisfactory, and Minecraft, should check out MANUFACTIO. A Minecraft Modpack inspired by Factorio.

What I have seen of it, it is a good translation of the mechanics of Factorio into Minecraft. Completely with no need to manually dig for resources and heavy automation and research.

That's the sequel and only releasing in early access today.

Have you played the first game? If not, you really should go for that one first instead.
Indeed. :)

But, this stand-alone expansion is supposed to be "friendly" to newcomers, in case anyone wants to "jump in" with this release.

To quote the Steam page:

«An easy game to pick up. While Trudograd is a continuation of the first game’s plot, it is also friendly towards new players, and will quickly fill you in on the lore and major developments you might have missed; »

Coming later this month to early access:

Soldak Entertainment releases consistently good action RPGs, despite the small number of people working on these games.
Do consider checking them out, the next time they are on sale. They are usually very cheap during the big sales.
I tried the first Drox Operative, but couldnt get the hang of the controls

It's a different "breed" from their usual brand of games.

Most of their action RPGs play like the original Diablo, but have plenty more interactivity and freedom (like competing heroes trying to do quests before you do, monsters being able to invade towns, ...).
In Drox Operative, they tried to take that, and place it in a different setting and format.
It wasn't always successful. :)

Hopefully, they have learned a few things, and applied it to the sequel. ;)

Earlier, I posted screenshots from ATOM RPG's new stand-alone expansion, out today on Early Access.

Allow me to post a few screenshots from the original game.
The game is currently discounted (30% off for a few more minutes).
If you like games like the original Fallout 1 and 2, do consider keeping this game in mind for a future sale. It has a ridiculous amount of content, for a small price-tag, and it presents a different Eastern, very Russian setting, that we don't get to see frequently.

Sounds like they are taking a lesson from TW: Warhammer 2. Regular paid DLC + free revamps and free DLC.
Which has my approval.
Seems like it's going to be nickel and dime content for a probable season pass price to me. Hope I'm wrong though. I already bought the expansions and was just hoping there was going to be another big hit, not a dribble of content.

I'm interested in playing the game a lot over a short period of time, not playing the game for a bit when little bits of content arrive over a long period of time if that makes sense.

In the end I was not able to get the SE bundle. They said earlier today that today would be the last day but they din't say when it would end. My guess was at 10 AM PST and ya that was the time.

oh well.

Did they ever mention the exact time that it would end?

It does make sense.

I prefer big expansions myself, instead of these constant small bits and pieces.
First of all, for convenience, since I can just play the game, drop it, and maybe come back to it when a big expansion drops.
The way some companies do (like Paradox) only makes me want to wait until development is complete, so I can play the game with all the content.

Secondly, these smaller pieces usually result in people paying more than what a single expansion would cost.

Oh well, let's see what the end result will be. ;)

I promise I'll shut up for a while about ATOM RPG ( :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes: ) after this post.
I know I can be a "pain in the ass" when a game I'm looking forward to is about to launch, or just launched, so I'll try not to overdo it. 😊

Anyway, I would just like to point out that apparently owners of ATOM RPG get a 20% discount on the new stand-alone expansion, since I managed to grab it with an additional discount, for around 8€ (sweet price 👍).
