With the news about Steam Workshop support for Command and Conquer Remastered, EA are really discouraging me from even thinking of buying an Origin key for the game.

Sadly, I think that's the intended discount.
You own 2 and 3 already, you get to buy the missing game as part of the trilogy pack for pretty much the same price it costs separately.
I can't imagine the discount for mafia trilogy is just 40 cents, I'm guessing it's just not working probably.
Or he could, as he has done, make a choice based on the incorrect data handed our by the dev. Then feel let down.
I don't see the issue here.
The issue is that he could have waited. The EGS sale ends in june and the game released today on may 21th on Steam. Only thing that would make sense is if he really wanted to play it and have therefore already played the EGS version.

SAM loads thumbnails for all games each time you load it. So if you got thousands of games it takes time for it to load. What I am using is jshackles' old python version of Idle Master. Using a command string to tell which game to "start" and instantly close it

I wish I could do that with ASF. I have never managed to make this command work for games with no card drop left:
You don't need to wait until the thumbnails are loaded, you can click on the game just fine even without a thumbnail (it will however take a bit to start, probably to fetch the games you have and that may take a little time)
Speaking about SAM and Spring Cleaning, since my download speed got an upgrade since last year and most of the 6 rooms have at least 1 game I actually wanna play anyway, I'll probably do most of it legit this year, yay.
Oh, it worked! I don't need to use SAM! ASF is sufficient! What might have done the trick is to "pause" first, so that ASF switches to manual farming.
