I tried Horace and Impossible Lair that EGS gave away and then bought them on Steam sale because I liked them. I will also get TABS and Farming Simulator 19 on Steam sale which was given away on EGS.
I should be fair though: This is a similar situation to me and PS Plus, as I got to play some indies that I later bought on Steam.
In fact this is a scenario that anyone and everyone could relate to.
Thing is; what will this mean in the long term? Would you support that dev or pub again day 1 with their new product? Or will you wait for their game to go for a freebie or on a deep discount before buying it?
Note by deep discount, I mean sold for 50% off or more. 10% and 25% are OK discounts, but when you have other games to play, you would not be in a rush to get certain games.
Furthermore, regarding EGS Freebies, there is the issue of 'is this worth the discount or price I am getting it for on Steam/GOG?'
Say a game you played for a handful of hours was something you enjoyed, would you be willing to pay $10 for it, being discounted from its original price? Or would you wait for it to show up in a bundle or wait for a deeper discount, and put that money towards something else?
Maybe this is the anti-EGS side of me with these questions, but there are A LOT of games one would want, and if a game has a decent discount now, it'll hit that price point again months later, so you hold off on buying it...and in turn possibly another 100 users hold off as well.
