I've never really looked into New Blood, they seem to have a great collection of games. I own Dusk which is really good but I was thinking of picking up Maximum Action as I love destruction physics in games.
do it! it's genuinely fantastic ... plus all the mods! :)

Have you played any Dusk mods and if so, how are they compared to the full game? Ive finished Dusk, but yet to play any mods, wonder what's the quality between the full game and mods.

lots of amazing mods out there! :)

I love that Steam concurrent number for P4G is significantly higher than VITA sales.

I think someone at Atlus is swallowing hard as they realize how much they could have sold both through nearly a decade of long tail and if the game wasn't that old when it had released on PC.

Decided to just download and start playing P4G now. Thought I could wait until Im done with Shadow Tactics and Thronebreaker, both great games, but I just really want to play P4G now. :p So Im gonna delay my playthrough of those games until Im done with P4G, Im only about 30-40 min into those games and they are both somewhat long games.

P4G on PC is pretty much a dream come true so Im gonna start on it now.

I wonder if it would be possible to mod P4G to reduce the size of the message box. It feels crazy big on a 27 inch monitor.

Torchlight III being on the top 10 seller of the week is impressive too, considering it's up around the same time as P4G.

It's also a sign that people don't really care about EA's games coming to Steam, especially with those ridiculous pricing.

Yeah, all the UI could be significantly smaller for most PC use cases. That said, it felt a bit strange at the beginning but now I don't even really notice. At least it's high res.

Also, the game has been out now for just 24 hours and is quickly approaching 5000 reviews. Even by conservative review -> sales estimates, that is bonkers.

Really looking forward to MS's showcase next month.
Same, it will be nice to see what all these teams Microsoft have bought will be doing. I think people will be surprised as they only know Microsoft as having a few exclusive games.

People do care about EA games on steam but most of them have been out for years, have bad regional pricing, require origin, and don’t support achievements

So far, it feels like Microsoft has just been buying studios and any projects those studios had were put on as Console exclusive to try and appeal Microsoft's system. I do hope they actually make more unique games like the early 360 days but their track records hasn't been reassuring.

Yeah, there are at least 3 games in the list I would have bought if they put a bit of effort in (i.e. divorced them from Origin and added achievements).
this.
I’d be much more interested if they didn’t still require Origin

So, not only is P4G still the top seller, it actually got a front page banner and the player count keeps rising.

I can't help but wonder what this means, realistically, in terms of what to expect now. P3 is already rumored and you would assume that P5R is a given. But are the spin-offs off the table? What about SMT? At this point I'm likely never hooking my PS3 back up to play them, so I wouldn't say no to Digital Devil Saga and the likes.

Although now that P4G is on PC, a part of me kind of expects Atlus to do a Full Body-style rerelease/remake instead of just porting it to consoles...

P4G is already a Full Body style rerelease.
I know that but what's stopping them from doing another? After the whole Catherine Classic thing, I can't just accept that we'll have the most up to date version of the game for long. I'm too cynical for that, and this is Atlus. :p

You don't want to reward a company for releasing a game, especially one which crashes whenever people attempt to stream it.

If you are actually interested in playing the game, it is another story.
Yeah I always wanted to play the game, fortunately. The day I want to reward a company just for the sake of it is the day you can put me down :smiling-eyes:

New peaks for this games (and right now)

I wonder how much of a difference there would have been if Satisfactory was not a EGS exclusive. People purchased it there and it ended up selling over 500k copies from the sounds of it (but how long did that take again?). Those number would likely be higher but the user base is split up. Either way that should be plenty of people to be able to do online multiplayer stuff with.

I love that Steam concurrent number for P4G is significantly higher than VITA LTD sales for the game.
I don't think that's the case. Or is that for some particular region? P4G ended up selling over 1 million copies on Vita (maybe even close to 1.5 million copies?, The only 2 other games on Vita that sold over 1 million that I am aware of are Dragon Quest Builders and Minecraft)

Either way the game will very likely sell over 500k lifetime on PC because of how cheap and accessible it is (pretty low system specs). VC1 was able to hit 1 million I think and a part of that was just because of how the only other way to play the game was a physical PS3 copy (the game wasn't even available as a digital PS3 copy)

What's a real pain in the ass is now every console gamer now thinks maximum theoretical long term storage read bandwidth is the sole factor in LOD... :(

The power of marketing.
What does that mean? I'm completely lost as to what marketing is helping with.

I mean they are also marketing EA Access and with that you wouldn't need to buy the game in order to play. That's what I'm waiting for.

Same, it will be nice to see what all these teams Microsoft have bought will be doing. I think people will be surprised as they only know Microsoft as having a few exclusive games.
I do hope that there is variety. Single player games are nice and all and do are multiple focused games. But hopefully they launch some new IPs with some interesting ideas that stick. They already announced some new IPs, which have gotten sort of mixed views by some people. That one Team Ninja game is liked by those whole played it but I don't think the game really took off. With the Obsidian Early Access game, people will like that game but it may not gather a very large following. Stuff like Ori was very well received but that takes time to make.

That may not be the case. I'd it safe to assume that with Catherine that SEGA EU and ATLUS JPN just were not on the same page? With P4G it seems like they were more involved and that ATLUS USA (SEGA America as well?) also took part do it's not really the same with because with Catherine SEGA EU seemed to be the only pulling all the weight?

They are likely going to base the upcoming console versions of P4G off the PC version with some minor tweaks.

I'm still holding hope that maybe not that long after the release of SMT V on N/S (which will hopefully happen before the end of the world) that they announce plans to port it to PC as well? With SMT V I think I would just buy it on PC and not bother getting the N/S version, I would buy the N/S version if it had a CE or something but I seeing how ATLUS has been with SMT it likely will not get that type of treatment.

How is it?
It's pretty good. A lot more story/dialogue than Slay the Spire and Monster Train and the battles feels slower paced (or takes a bit more time to defeat a single enemy). Im digging it though.

Installing Griftlands makes me think I might have too many rogulikes/-ish installed:

Isaac
Crypt of the Nekrodancer
Darkest Dungeon
Dead Cells
Dicey Dungeons
Enter the Gungeon
FTL
Griftlands
Hades
Into the Breach
Monster Train
Noita
Nuclear Throne
Risk of Rain 2
Slay the Spire
Streets of Rogue
Synthetik
West of Dead (I think this is a roguelike at least)

It's not helping, but marketing has bewildered a lot of console gamers into thinking LOD is driven by assets loading from long term storage. (it's not even a factor - an is unrelated to texture pop in)

I'm a bit surprised how well Sea of Thieves is doing on steam. Not only is it a relatively old game, you can pick up the Win Store Version for cheap and it is permanently available via Game Pass. I expected it to sell, but 63k concurrent seem to indicate that it is doing exceptionally well.

No matter how I put it, I only see one conclusion: Not releasing on Steam = leaving behind a lot of money. Unless most of the people who bought Sea of Thieves on Steam are people who double dipped.

Yeah, that's exactly it.

More precisely, the major, primary gameplay loop and challenge in the game is time management. You against the calendar.
Which in turn means that any player who wants to "succeed" at the game wants to maximize their time efficiency. Since dungeon visits take up in-game time, that means that you are incentivized by the core game mechanics to make your dungeon visits as long (and therefore few) as possible. In other words, the game mechanics actively reward you for making your own pacing and experience worse.
You can see that in terms of story and a few mechanics, this was not at all the intention. The game's story actually wants you to chip away at the dungeons over a longer time period, which would also result in more interesting and varied pacing.

I see at least two simple ways to overcome this, and neither of them really seem all that hard to implement:
  • Make dungeon visits "free" in terms of time. There's a supernatural element there anyway, so story-wise it's not an issue. And it also doesn't really change the challenge in a practical way. It just removes the major incentive for self-made bad pacing.
  • Introduce more obstacles in the dungeons which relate back and forth with real-world events. The previous option is more about removing the pull factor making people do extremely long dungeon visits, will this one actively forces them to do more individual ones.
Now that you say it, I remember doing exactly that when I played the PS2 version way back.
I wonder if someone can mod/cheat the "cost" for dungeon going away.

If it's game pass people, they may have just gotten the game along with that and instead of them having to keep on paying for it, it may end up being cheaper in the long run just to buy the game and your save data does transfer over it would seem.

Can you use your account from the Windows Store? I would think double-dipping is very limited without the ability to use it on Steam.

What the last years showed, is that there is no big overlap in the kind of players who game on PC and console. Sure, the people who have multiple consoles and a PC are very vocal, but most people (and the dozen of millions who only play niche titles on PC) only stick with one place. So selling on every place imaginable is the best option.

Yeah, I expect we'll see every Persona spin off (that isn't P4A/U2 because fuck Atlus) before we see any SMT game. The persona bias is real and those games will sell better anyway. I won't believe for a second that any SMT game is coming to Steam until I'm in Nocturne's graphics options setting it to 1440p.

As for non Atlus developed games, I could see Aegis Rim getting a port if it does well on PS4. It's getting a lot of hype among the VN community, which prominently plays on PC.

Huh how much did P4G sold on Vita?
Last i heard was 700k back in december 2013, about a year or so after the game dropped. I'd be shocked if it hasn't hit a million on Vita since then.
