Glad I managed to sell some of those Persona cards quickly, the first I sold for 1€ haha! then they went down like 30% each after that.
I don't know about that. I have absolutely no problem with anime and I still wouldn't classify Dark Souls as a JRPG.I think it mostly depends on how they want to be viewed. Those people who want nothing to do with Anime and "weeb" culture will tell you vehemently that it is CLEARLY NOT a JRPG.
The opposite think that every RPG from Japan is a JRPG.
My intent wasn't to overly generalize, it just seems to me that way for many people.I don't know about that. I have absolutely no problem with anime and I still wouldn't classify Dark Souls as a JRPG.
(Because "RPG from Japan" is quite a useless genre classification, and because it's much more convenient to be able to talk about e.g. Edge of Eternity or Cosmic Star Heroine as JRPGs, because then we can have a shared game-characteristics-based understanding of what that means)
This is where I'm at.There are games I'd call JRPG which aren't anime-style but it's pretty rare. (One example is Anachronox, which is neither Japanese nor Anime, but still pretty clearly a JRPG IMHO)
2020 please calm down
Might be nothing but I think KH websites didn't have this references on the code before.
Haha yeah, it's a year to remember, for good and bad reasons but in general there's no denial that 2020 is a very interesting and crazy year in all possible aspects2020 please calm down
Funny thing you mentioned on your last paragrah is that many sites refer The Witcher as a Western-RPG. Maybe they don't use/add the Polish word but surely they use Western. Same applies to Mass Effect. So yeah, in the end its not only a country but sometimes an entire region which is tagged or labbed for a genre as a subgenreI'm sure that there are plenty of ways to see a J-RPG, and that would vary for every person and every game, games are rarely that easy to classify. Hell, Granddaddy Dragon Quest certainly has more in common with Wizardry than Resonance of Fate.
The only thing that probably should not be used as definition is "RPG from Japan", because it's not like we call Mass Effect a Canadian-RPG or The Witcher a Polish-RPG.
That's a very weird distinction and it tells you nothing.
WRPG is such a weird concept to me. Sure, JRPG is also ill-defined but the only way I'd define a "WRPG" is in contrast to a JRPG. Action RPG and CRPG tell me a lot more about the basic gameplay conceits than WRPG would, both of which would fall under the overarching WRPG moniker most of the time.Funny thing you mentioned on your last paragrah is that many sites refer The Witcher as a Western-RPG. I agree with this. I commonly find uses for "CRPG", "JRPG", "ARPG" or "SRPG", but I never really figured out the utility of "WRPG".WRPG is such a weird concept to me. i love your Satisfactory posts ... please, don't stop!I've discovered a region I'm calling Oilland. It was in severe need of some freedom, so I packed up my energysword, a couple hundred rounds of ammunition and liberated it. After killing everything that I didn't like, I concentrated all my effort to build oil extractors and pipelines that are running back into my home turf. I had no idea this freedom business is that exhausting and expansive. I better take all the Oil for myself to cover my costs.
I agree with you on your post. I think your definition nailed it. Well at least that's how I understand and see either JRPG or any other subRPG genre. To me, the most fundamental gameplay indicator of a JRPG (in terms of genre) is the distinction between the combat and non-combat gameplay sequences, which is then further solidified by ancillary elements like what traits are of relevance in the character sheet (i.e. typically no non-combat skills) and the verbs you have available to you outside of combat.
In every game I'd classify as a JRPG, you spend part of the game walking around and doing basic interactions in the world (talk, open chest, pick up, etc.) and another part in which you get sectioned off from the aforementioned to engage in combat. Once that happens, your set of verbs changes entirely and you enter combat either through an active battle system (e.g. Tales of, Xenoblade, more recent Final Fantasy games) or a turn based one (Dragon Quest, Cosmic Star Heroine, etc.).
CRPGs have similar tendencies, but they have different types of character sheets, your out-of-combat verbs tend to be much broader, and you can usually manually engage the combat verb set, unlike JRPGs in which those are sectioned off entirely.
So, following this, Yakuza is most definitely a JRPG whereas something like Nier: Automata and Dark Souls are Action RPGs. Another one that often comes up is Monster Hunter, which in my opinion is just an Action game with light RPG elements. And Zelda is certainly not an RPG I think, unless you're taking RPG in the most literal sense. It's one of the clearest examples of Action-Adventure there is.

i think the answer is pretty obviousI wonder what happened to Annapurna and EGS. Sure, Pathless and Solar Ash are still going EGS exclusive, but those where announced a very long time ago. Now everything is releasing (it seems) day 1 on Steam.
Bad sales, little talk about those EGS exclusives and when they dropped on Steam they sold better so now they want to increase sales by launching day 1 on Steam?i think the answer is pretty obvious
That or maybe no more exclusivity payments from Epic as those games are really niche so they probably focused on cheaper options or more mainstream products, while a Journey and an Outer Wilds will give you names (and even more after they get recognized by the media and the industry with all the prizes) those are not really hot releases in terms of sales, so yeah, I think they are just more comfortable on Steam and GOG in general, but weird things is that most of their multi-store releases are not on EGS.Bad sales, little talk about those EGS exclusives and when they dropped on Steam they sold better so now they want to increase sales by launching day 1 on Steam?
[UWSL]Most of Epic’s non exclusive game giveaways were games not available on EGS prior to the giveaway. Maybe devs aren’t putting their multi-store releases on EGS because they know barely anyone is gonna buy their games there anyway and as a bonus they can keep themselves open to the opportunity of Epic paying them to put their game on EGS as a free giveaway.[/UWSL], I think they are just more comfortable on Steam and GOG in general, but weird things is that most of their multi-store releases are not on EGS.
I think it's just as likely that EGS is no longer willing to pay much since they figure that no one who hasn't done so yet is going to start using EGS for a random Annapurna game.Bad sales, little talk about those EGS exclusives and when they dropped on Steam they sold better so now they want to increase sales by launching day 1 on Steam?
I agree with anii-chan ! The post was already interesting but really surprised me when it turned out you were taking a jab at the Freedom Wars tm (superscript doesn't work)i love your Satisfactory posts ... please, don't stop!
I'm really sorry, I know first-hand how that can throw your routine and life out of whack. I hope that you can fix it!Oh no my windows tablet stopped recharging! What will I do without my movie porn watching machine! Hopefully it's just a charger and can get a new one, but since it some weird old non-standard I have little hope those still exist.
I still think the 00's were a better and more diverse time by far but this is indeed the best we've been since Gen7 rolled around.I feel that PC gaming is starting this upcoming generation in the best position it has ever had. I understand the love for the 90s era as we got a ton of PC classics but right now PC gaming offers a truly staggering amount of choice and quality of service. I've been playing on PC since the late 80s and I firmly believe that this is the best time be a PC gamer. I'm really happy with how the platform has evolved over the years.
I really hope this was either a joke or a single dev’s note to himself.
Might be nothing but I think KH websites didn't have this references on the code before.
I mean that must have been cheaper than my pad.

I actually know someone who loves Hitman Absolution mainly because of those fetish nuns.Yes, there’s a mission to take them out
Well, I was talking about the website references for Switch and PC but yeah, those other references... not coolI really hope this was either a joke or a single dev’s note to himself.
