As the year rolls on i'm so so glad i have my PC library to rummage through. All these console games releasing at £50 minimum just makes me want to play something else and wait for sales and discounts.
It's why i'll pay the extra and get a disk PS5 when i eventually bother sometime next year. Physical media on consoles plummets in price compared to digital.

Then what are you talking about?
I can pitch in there because I interacted with the Rebel Galaxy devs when the shoe dropped and he was a little bit hostile and disingenuous surrounding the EGS exclusivity announcement.

Basically he portrayed them taking the moneyhats as being necessary sacrifices in a rather self-aggrandizing way. It was the usual depiction of themselves as the plucky rebels against the Steam monopoly and them taking a huge risk by doing this... when they were taking bags of money in exchange for screwing the users and platform over.

They didn't behave in a way that was very honest.

I just saw godfall full gameplay.....

How sure are we that this isn't some stealth GOW spinoff. I mean we can't really know at the moment can we??? At the moment its looking like an Arnold and his son Joseph situation.

the Rebel Galaxy devs were really defensive of their decision to go EGSclusive on Twitter back when they announced it and never changed their stance, it was quite annoying. Nonsense like this:

Im sure Ge0force remembers a bunch of discussions with those knobheads ;)

BTW, I am slightly worried about Hitman 3. Sure, the 2016 and 2018 games were on Steam, but those were also published by Square Enix and WB Games, respectively. Now that IOI is publishing independently, they might be more willing to take exclusivity deals to have financial security. Their VR announcement only mentioned PSVR, and they have not responded to users on Twitter asking about SteamVR/PC VR in general. No Steam page has been put up yet either. So in a worst case scenario we could see VR only on PlayStation, and timed EGSclusivity. I sincerely hope IOI knows their playerbase better, but I've been wrong about that before. And Hitman 3 going exclusive would be the first one that would REALLY sting for me personally, Hitman being among my absolute favourite games...

(I know what youre thinking btw: but importing the Hitman 1+2 content into H3 could be done outside of Steam too... by profile ownership verification - like GOG Connect -, or simply by using an IO Account)

HZD, 1080p, ultra:

1080Ti: 49.4FPS
2070S: 50.6 FPS
5700XT OC: 50.4 FPS
Vega VII: 43.4 FPS
welp...i got 2070s and would be playing in 1440 so i guess HZD is a skip til theres a patch. was hoping to play in over 60fps on high/ultra 😕

even with steam's very good refund policy this is why i'm done pre-ordering games

Yeah. This was during the rather depressing time where many devs showed their backend and took exclusivity deals while trying to gaslight their audience. I was a die-hard fan of theirs, especially of Howie's VFX work and after a couple months of them saying really disingenuous things on twitter, I wanted nothing to do with them anymore. Considering how much I love space games, that's saying a lot.

They postured a lot about having had a hard upbringing on the eastern side of the iron curtain and wanting to deliver value to the players. You can imagine how hypocritical that heel-face turn felt.

I strongly recommend you try out dictators optimised settings before giving up. Those benchmarks were done on ultra settings. Going from ultra to high is like an 40% increase.

Yes, indeed. I didnt even care about their game and was still super annoyed and appaled.

I hope it's not that case :(

Sorry, didnt wanna make you worried, and I hope IOI knows better. Just the VR announcement completely tailored towards PSVR is worrying to me. I really hope they wont disappoint us.

If Sony made Spider Man a Sony exclusive character, then they probably make the VR part exclusive to a Sony console, and for me it doesn't matter :)

Looks like it, yes. Well, I would like to play it in VR (even just for a while), so if they make it exclusive, I hope it'll be timed only, not full.

Did anyone ever experienced a weird bug with uPlay there it won't start unless you change a date on your PC to the last day this piece of shit actually worked? They say it's cause of IPv6 but its unchecked on my system to begin with. I already did everything humanely possible including completely deleting and redownloading it to no avail. :negative-blob:

Any ideas why I can't log into the Steam store in Firefox? It just hangs on a loading circle at the point Steam guard should be prompting for a code. Getting this behaviour on two different systems. Chrome works fine but I'd rather not have to switch to that just to use one website.

Tried clearing cookies, cache and disabling augmented Steam but no change.
Its amazing how often I "solve" an issue just by complaining into the void somewhere. I did nothing and now its working after not being able to login for at least a week.

No, but I played Division2 recently and the game only starts in one out of four cases now.
I complained about it on the ubi forums and people responded with;"People complain about that all the time. It manifests randomly for some people and than goes away as randomly."

I call it the Ubi magic effect.

I'm afraid my following thoughts might stir up some controversy, nonetheless I believe I need to share them.

First of all, I understand your concers about platform exclusivities as a consumer/user. I personally dislike them but that's in part because I believe exclusivities tend to restrictic a notable amount of their playerbase target the ability to enjoy/play them . I know almost nobody really wants to wait for a year to buy a game they really want to play immediately on their desired platform, but if I try to grasp the whole picture, some devs probably don't want to miss out on guaranteed money despìte its possible consequences.

So to be clear, I'm against exclusivities but I believe there are probably cases which would require profound knowledge and comprenhension regarding developers current economic circumstances to make them choose this path.

Also, a big issue is how they can behave and handle the consequences of their choice (exclusivity) towards users.

I personally can understand why some indies developers take Epic's money whithout second thoughts (survability/sustainability at all cost), but when it comes to big publishers and/or developers I certainly struggle a lot to imagine if it really pays off the loss of sales on released date compared to the amount of cash they get for the exclusivity.
