Because of the listed content in addition to the actual complete lack of character options from the start. They give you SO LITTLE to work with. Also, from having played D&D IRL and CRPGs for close to 3 decades, level cap of 6-8 after 40 hours in a D&D video game reeks of artificially stretching stuff out which is one of the most annoying things to me in games (looking at you, Portia, worst offender of them all).

1/15th could be read as hyperbolic but when you consider the depth that more classes, more backgrounds, more specialization options, and a few more areas add, I really don't think it is. It's not like I played BG2 with every single class available to the protagonist but at least I was able to make a character that I cared about and was interested in mechanically, which I couldn't do here.

Further, I dislike that nowhere on their store page did it mention anything about all the basic, core 5E ruleset stuff they were limiting / omitting. I just checked and they still don't. The only reason I was able to find out they might add classes later (again, core classes, not like custom or anything) was searching on the forums and a backer saying they had mentioned once maybe adding ones as DLC. They mention the level limit in the EA notes as going up to 10 eventually but according to the latest notes, it's 8.

Some of this lack will not mean anything to people but it's huge to me. It's literally why I would play a D&D game - honestly this may have been better off not even bothering using the license and going with some homebrew rules, they are using so little of it.

I can't speak to if they've fixed the various balance decisions that initial impressions seemed to have issues with obviously, but at least one of them (the way lighting affected disadvantage) made me question how of much their own game they had playtested, because it was really clearly not fun. I do still see a number of comments talking about how fights are grindy because of a lot of missing constantly.
Thanks for the thorough explanation. Honestly, I'm not an expert in D&D, probably just an apprentice since I never actually play the boardgame, so I never really paid attention to that kind of stuff. But I at least understand that with the available classes and the 8 or 10 level cap limit, the game probably wouldn't have that much depth. That said, I'm still looking forward to the new adventure in Solasta.

Yea again, I had a bit of fun in the demo and it showed promise. It's still "Very Positive" so clearly plenty are enjoying it. It seems like it would fall into a weird spot where D&D nerds like me would be disappointed with how shallow it is but non-D&D players might be thrown off by some of the tabletop rules that can be burdensome in a digital setting, but so far obviously they are finding some success.

Somewhat related, there are a few hypothetical video games I really wish existed but don't and if I had any background in game development or infinite money I would make them myself. One is a fleshed out 4E D&D game. Another is a true successor to Marvel Avengers Alliance 2 (Strike Force is such a joke comparatively).

so apparently the Ninja Gaiden 1 we're getting in the collection is not only the shitty Sigma version ... but also the Vita version, not the PS3 one

kecmo gonna kecmo

I don't know about you but nothing makes me reach for my wallet quite as fast as developers loudly broadcasting that they don't give a shit about their own damn game. If this is true then I guess I'll just never play Ninja Gaiden. :upside-down-face:

Risen 3 is the weakest entry in the series right?
Hmmm, depends... probably.
I prefer Risen 2 then Risen Then Risen 3 but Risen 3 is basically Risen 2 expanded a bit. I'm a sucker for Golden Age Piracy styled games though so i have rose-tinted glasses and haven't replayed them for 10 years or so. I also really like Piranha Bytes so that distorts things too.

eh, i liked it ... a lot

Watch them say "IT'S THE BEST DEBUT ON PC SINCE 1869" they love doing that-
the thing about all those statements is that they don't even have to be true ... not like anyone can actually check if they're telling the truth

When did Steam support turn bad? I consider myself to be a collector of digital games on Steam and buy new games weekly. I rarely feel the need to request a refund, even if I think that the game I bought sucked, but refunds have been granted on the rare occasions I have requested one, irrespective of the "two week rule".

Apparently, things have changed over there, and my request was now denied with reference to the "two week rule" after what seems like automatic review of my request.

My request was extremely reasonable. I bought the windows 10 version of The Outer Worlds at release, and I wanted to simplify continuing to play the game (and support the developer) by purchasing the Steam version as well. Unfortunately, some bug prevented me from transferring my save file over to the Steam version, but I continued to wait for a fix. The fix never materialized and after the last DLC I guess they are done with the game, so I requested a refund for this version of the game on Steam that is of no use to me. Was denied automatically ... :(

You need to try to reach a human being.
That would have been good ... I reacted emotionally instead and requested refunds for the seven games I just bought that are within the two week grace period (none of which I have played for two hours or more)

I tried to play it last year and couldn't finish the game due to a bug(crash) when interacting to an important NPC.
As EdwardTivrusky said Risen 3 feels more like the same of Risen 2 which is what matters in the end.
Some people hated Risen 2 others liked it.

For me Risen 3 started awfully but improved over the course of my playthrough until I got that terrible bug.

So SE removed Soul Reaver to work on important updates but Neir which will probably get 0 positive reviews in the next month which probably still needs the work still stays there.

LOL

It may not be too late. I don't remember how I did it the last time. I think it was the last link on this page:

but it IS curated ... we only really post store pages of games that look promising, so there's that :)
Yeah I'm not complaining. Not much. Well, ok I am complaining that it blows up my wishlist too much with games I don't have time for. Maybe I should start a thread where I further curate the new release thread. 🤔

Does any body knows about 2K sending emails to play test an unannounced game? Once you registered on the web page, they send you a link to sign NDA letter... and everything seems to be legit.
If that game ends up being XCOM3 I don't give a damn what your NDA says. Your first duty is to report that right here.

I got this answer:
Hello,

We have closely reviewed your request. Unfortunately, your purchase does not qualify for a refund.

To ensure future eligibility, please submit refund requests within 14 days and less than 2 hours of playtime.

Please review our Refund Policy and Common Refund Questions for more information.

Thanks for using Steam,
Derek
I answered this:
It is extremely disappointing that you refuse to refund the game despite my clear explanation for why I bought the game and how a major and still unresolved technical issue prevents me from getting any use out of the game. My only activity with the game has been starting it up from time to time to see if the major technical issue that prevents me from playing the game has been resolved.
Edit:
Which received the final response:
Hello again,

We have provided all the available information in our previous message. Since there's not much more that I can say or do to be of help with this particular issue, I am going to close this help request.

If you have questions on an unrelated issue, please create a new help request and we will be happy to help you.

Best Regards,
Mitch

I answered this:
Strange they should be able to refund it. They do it for me when I have requested it.

-------

Talking about the lewd game. It's not so bad.

An issue that I have is that it doesn't have subtitles for the FMV stuff, since it's still a game and it does have a story and stuff but you don't get subtitles in those parts.

Also in the text log you can't have them repeat audio. So if you have played Persona 5, that is sadly not here (but that could be changed?)

The twin stick shooter ship part is sort of fun but it's weird when you use a mouse because the ship doesn't point where you want it to point.

The Xcom part of the game is sort of strange (I have not played Xcom before but it has this whole shield thing and stuff, I sort of wish that it was more "simple". Stuff like Fire Emblem is simple and fun.

As for the actual lewd stuff there is a slider bar, if the lewd games that I have played that's new. Since normally it would just be buttons but for some reason it's a slider bar with no real indicators or anything.

As for the story you are this one space dude, you stole this one space pirate dudes robot and he is trying to kill you because of it.

I am not too familiar with the Unreal Engine asset store but they do make a joke about Tim Sweeney and porn games and stuff.

Irrelevant to the topic, but I rarely found giving developer benefit of a doubt turned out to be good idea. I just assume whatever bug that are present on a release is likely to persist.
