Hugo Martin is doing the final stream of his Doom Eternal playthrough. Honestly, I cannot think of any other game director having streamed/documented playing an entire game they've worked on. Lots of good behind the scene stuff and decisions, especially addressing nearly every criticism against Doom Eternal on mic. He started the stream off by addressing TAG2's reception/criticism.

Apparently, TAG1's difficulty nerfs met with a lot of criticism from the community. He plans on reverting some the changes soon, lol. (Which is odd considering a lot of people complained about the difficulty on release.) 🤷‍♂️ But I completely agree with him on not bringing back the possessed Baron as an intro to the spirit enemy. More masters levels coming soon!

I hate the changes that google makes. On your phone it now shows google trending stuff.

I would just meta and that would be it but now I have to jump hoops for it to show up

Major update & full release is coming soon for Solasta, as well as a slight price increase.
Hey there folks!

The Spring Update should now be live, with a plethora of changes and new content! With the addition of the difficulty options, side quests and background quests, your Solastan experience is getting closer and closer to the final release. Well bugs and polish aside of course, Early Access has proved quite effective at finding and squashing them so far! But enough talk, it's time to dive into the patch notes.

Spring Patch Sales & Price Increase
Solasta will be discounted when the Spring Update hits the store on March 25th until March 31st, after which the price of the game will increase from $35 to $40 in anticipation of the 1.0 release. This is due to the fact that Steam prevents games from discounting within 30 days of a price increase, so we unfortunately cannot increase the price when 1.0 gets released while also having a launch discount. So if you want to jump in Solasta at Early Access price, make sure you don't miss the Spring Update sales!

Nasu and Type Moon are set for life thanks to FGO. Now they go out of their way to specifically fuck over the one platform that established Nasu/TM as a creator. Why would you ever want intentionally limit your audience when you have basically infinite resources and you've already wasted over a decade on a project like Tsukihime? Absolute clowns.

I would have some respect for him if he just said it's because of piracy or whatever the real reason is.

Does any body knows about 2K sending emails to play test an unannounced game? Once you registered on the web page, they send you a link to sign NDA letter... and everything seems to be legit.

The full quote is even funnier.
The feelings put into the console release
Why are you releasing Tsuki R on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4?

Takeuchi:
As I already mentioned before, I was personally planning to release the game for the PC until a few years ago. But a lot changed when Nasu said "Nowadays games are only taken seriously when they're played on consoles."

Nasu: In the past decade, smartphones kept getting more and more hi-tech, we've been getting a lot more people who don't play anything outside of mobile games. On the other hand, we're also getting more hardcore gamers who can't get enough with just the mobile and build their gaming PCs. In this world of constant change, your choice of platform is something you must put pride in. With that being said, I believe nothing compares to the experience of playing a classic visual novel on a console. I put a lot of my soul into that text, with beautiful visuals and songs to match, so I want you to play it connected preferably to a large TV screen. I know that's the creator's ego talking, but I wanted you to play under the best conditions possible on your first experience with TsukiR. So I asked Takeuchi for a console release.

Takeuchi: We were never planning to make this as an adult game, but the CERO rating we were planning for this game was Z (18+). It was necessary for the game to have blunt and plain depictions of violence, for example on the intro scene and on one scene with Shiki and Arcueid. If anything, this Z rating should be taken as a message from us saying "We're faithful to the source material, we're not running away from what we did".

I don't think I've ever been more disappointed going from demo -> game than this one. The demo was pretty fun and showed lots of promise, and then the EA game came out and.... it's basically 1/15th of the actual content I would expect from a game like that, and a bunch of iffy design / balance decisions on top. Almost no class choices, very small level cap, they tweaked some tabletop rules for the worse (some of which might have been addressed but I refunded it after 10 minutes). I know they're small but it's just so underwhelming. 6 classes available out of the 13+ I would expect and talk of "maybe" adding 1 as a DLC later.

I'd really love to get a digital version of 4E D&D someday but that's super unlikely, given the (unwarranted) public hate it got, even though it would be one of the easiest to adapt to digital probably.

They really don't know how PCs work, it's fucking amazing :coffee-blob:
That quote is pretty silly, and doesn't line up with there being a switch port.
I assume it's the usual "PC is full of pirates" thing but he doesn't want to admit to that in an interview, so you get this silly story. Especially silly for a company that's been making PC games for the longest time.

Once this game gets localised. I could still see them opting for a PC port. Like if XSEED, or NISA would bring this to the west, for example.
Have a hard time caring about this hitting PC. Honestly, I feel Tsukihime is overrated anyway. The various paths never feel consistent, characters behaving completely differently for no reason, and during key moments the plot becomes often literally incomprehensible. Plus the terrible eroge stuff.

I had a dream last night about Bloodborne. It was Bloodborne 2 and some of the section had NPCs that were played by real life actors and those sections were directed by none less than Quentin Tarantino! What i remember most was thinking 'what about game preservation? how am i going to play this again in a year or two, will i need to hire the same actors back to my flat?'

Anyone who's interested in playing Balan Wonderwold and have epilepsy or sensitive to flashing lights might want to check this PSA.

I've watched the scenes they're talking about and it is pretty bad.

lol that's some optimism
:shrugblob:
I think the game has a cult following. Could see the above mentioned companies being interested in bringing it to the West.
I don't really care about this either way, but it would be odd to never bring it to the West.

Me too. What's baffling is that the only scenarios this get passed as a final product is:

  • They don't playtest the encounter at all
  • The playtester(s) didn't find it intrusive

Even with a single watch, anyone would think that it's wrong.

Noice. Got confirmation from a friend that he still has EA Play Pro on Origin, so we will be playing It Takes Two during the next few days, like we did with A Way Out.

Downloading the friend pass on Origin now.
