42 euros seems to be the deal, but it's from a key reseller. Although a more acceptable key reseller
Is Instant Gaming a key reseller? They have it for 42 as well. I asked a few days ago and someone said it's a legit site.
Gamersgate doesn't have the game yet, strange.

Nocturne getting released on Steam should be a huge event. The fact that the state of the port is killing the hype really saddens me.
It seems like it should’ve released at half the price it’s being sold for given what they are and aren’t doing with it. I’m very interested in it still, but I’ll grab it in a year or more when its pricing aligns better with my expectations.

Yeah, the price is ridiculous but would be easier to swallow if this was a great port. Such a shame.

Lmao I almost hope this is true, if only because it would mean they have to be fucking desperate at this point. Like, imagine wasting money on shitty clauses like this that Microsoft probably doesn't give two fucks about instead of, I don't know, putting it towards developing a sequel to one of your games that was profitable? Nah, let's just remake a not-that-old game instead.

Honestly, I was kind of a Sony fanboy in the early years of the PS3 gen, and even back then I never disliked Microsoft as much as I do Sony now. It's honestly kind of impressive how much bad will they're adamant on building.

As with everything around Sony and exclusivity, I would not be surprised. This is presumably from the ransomware leak? At least it couldn’t be mistranslated like the Monhun thing. The legalese still makes it a little vague though. It’s both not allowed on a competing sub for the duration of “the term” and Sony has right of first negotiation for a year? Sounds like two different things.

I read somewhere this is wrong (Sony is not preventing the game on game pass), but not sure.
It's not wrong.

First year:

Capcom can't talk with anyone else about sub inclusion

After first year:

Can talk about sub inclusion, but must first negotiate with Sony up to 120 days (4 months), after that Capcom could go on to talks with Microsoft Gamepass, after Capcom & Microsoft have come agreement, they must give Sony 60 days to match given deal.
(So Sony can delay for at least 180 days)

It's a very niche game. How could it have been a "huge" event ?

In the same way Persona 4 Golden was a niche game and yet was a huge event because it was the first modern Persona game to come to PC (selling up to 1M copies in less than a year, getting banner and big discussion on the internet)

SMT 3 is probably the most known Megami Tensei game ever (or at the very least one of the most popular ones) so that coming to, no only PC, but modern platforms is an event per say.

Let's hope this means the end of encrypted games for game pass.

Given the egg on our faces we got with trusting people too easily with these leaks and how much Sony is suddenly in the spotlight for their exclusivity practices, I'm a bit wary on that one. That being said, if this is verified, of course it's bullshit and I say this as someone who loathes Gamepass.

Been playing it more and think I finally understand how Robotics;Notes is structured. Each phase, after the first three which serve as prologue, is like a small episode with its own intro and ending credits. It's like you're watching a TV series.
The bizarre thing is, that the game refuses to let you just play them in order, despite the narrative only making sense if you do play them in order. What it expects you to do, is go back to a point in the game that acts as the starting hub of each of these episodes.

So you play for example Phase 6, then go back to Phase 5, do some weird thing, and only then does it jump to Phase 7. And repeat that process for Phases 7, and 8.

No idea why Mages decided to go with this system, after the pretty normal structure in Steins;Gate. Well, as long as you play with a walk-through, telling you exactly what weird things you need to do to play the game in order, it's pretty ok.

Actually story is pretty good, just very poor pacing that hurts it at times. This games shows very clearly how less is usually more when it comes to effective writing.

I guess that on Twitter I had a "hot take" about Halo and how it was not that impressive compared to other FPS games.

Peoples main argument was that it standardized the control sceme of FPS......with a controller, sure that's impressive in a way but what else did it do?
Well, I agree that Halo is massively overrated.
It's a slow, boring FPS and its main claim to fame is popularizing the genre on consoles. Which is important from a market/game history perspective I guess, but doesn't make the game intrinsically more interesting.

I honestly tend to agree, though Halo seemed to have a cinematic storyline with great map design that made it a rather good game in its right if I remember correctly.

But looking at all the FPS's released before or during 2001, the picture gets a little clearer. Half-Life, Soldier of Fortune, Deus Ex, NOLF. Hell Operation Flashpoint released in 2001. That kind of puts Halo into perspective.

I think its narrative and cinematic execution are clearly its strong points and claim to fame for that time period. MOHAA released a few months later and that in itself was a game that probably topped it.

I'm not saying huge in the sense that it would sell millions. I'm talking about the significance of the release for fans of the genre. Nocturne is one of the very best rpgs ever made and the thought of seeing it on steam seemed like a pipe dream until recently. Sorry for not explaining myself properly.

I was a FPS junkie as anyone back in the day and played mostly on PC but Halo was still a great experience. One of the biggest draws was good CO-OP through the whole campaign. At that time it was rare to see that. So it was the presentation, console FPS done good, good MP, good CO-OP all in all that made it.

I agree, playing the Halo games again was fascinating to me just to understand a bit more about the history of the medium, since Halo was indubitably hugely influential to the medium of console shooters. I also don't think it's unfair to point out that most of its contribution is by simplifying the controls schemes to make them more suitable for gamepads in the first place. Auto-aim and so forth, were first used in Halo, if I am not wrong, or at least popularised by it for sure.

And the biggest thing is likely the online multiplayer element of it, which wasn't this big phenomenon before Halo. Especially Halo 2 really set the stage for later franchises like Call of Duty to make the jump to consoles.


As actual games, though, I agree with Durante. They don't hold much of a candle against the best games of the 90s, and even in the early 2000s, you had better and more impressive FPS games, like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead and others, and the latter two even purely multiplayer games.

I did note that it had a significant historical impact.

That just doesn't have a bearing on how I would judge it as an individual game, or maybe more accurately the experience of playing it. I'm not an FPS expert, but I did play and enjoy quite a few of them at the time, and In terms of gameplay I just didn't find Halo particularly appealing vis-a-vis its contemporaries (looking at it primarily from a PC perspective obviously).

Never been big on Halo myself, but I always thought the encounter desing was well liked and often lauded as the thing that sets it apart.

I really enjoyed Halo both back in the day and when I more recently played it again and I'd already experienced plenty of PC FPS before I first played it. Never liked the suggestion it was only impressive to console only people.

I've never been especially skilled or co-ordinated with Kb+M controls so it's only marginally more advantageous to me over using a controller, I wonder if that comes into it.

I'm sure a large part of preference comes into it as well. My primary issue with it was really how slow it was, both in terms of gameplay and in terms of pacing. (Talking specifically about the original Halo here, just to clarify; I feel like e.g. Reach is better in these aspects)

Getting cancelled Prey 2 vibes from that Hired Gun thing. Bounty hunting FPS and what not.

Wonder if that stuff with the npcs is just fluff and not really indicating something more than just a linear stage based experience.

I already asked on twitter, but I'm very confused by what "both modes" would mean for a PC version.

Also, I haven't seen co-op confirmation anywhere, that's still by far my biggest concern with this game.

Apparently the Japanese page for Arise says that it's single player.

I was dreading that they would drop co-op ever since the first trailer made a big deal out of revolutionizing the franchise.
Oh well, there goes most of my interest.

Edit: sure looks like it: Tales of ARISE テイルズ オブ アライズ (bottom part where it says specs, to the right)
Maybe they don't count it as multi-player since only the combat that supports co-op? I think that's how it worked in Berseria and Zesteria.

I've only played Halo, Halo 2 and Reach campaigns from the MCC so far.

I would say

Hal0CE = 10 out of 10. Amazing in so many ways and I played mostly with old graphics.
Hal0 2 = overrated and boring. Like 7 out of 10 at best.
Reach = pretty damn good 9 out of 10.

With M/KB these games are great run n gun shooters on the higher difficulties. The AI is amazing too all things considered. I see why they are popular especially the Halo 2 multi but I wouldn't put them in the top of any legacy/importance conversations. I played the first 2 games on the OG console with friends when I was younger but I hated everything about controller fps games. To this day I don't find it fun so I don't get the whole revolution topic.

The thing I really appreciate eith the games is the SyFy parts of it all. There just not much out there like it except Destiny 2 but that game is just not the same. Today's Bungie is way to focus tested, overdesigned and casual.

I still need to do 3, ODST and 4 later this year before Infinite. I heard a lot of good things about 3/ODST so I am looking forward to it.

Halo 5 would be nice too I hope 343 ports it soon.

New DLC drops today! Woohoo!

OoC2 is so damn polished & inviting to the genre noob. Speaking of which the Tutorial got a complete overhaul yesterday that doubled the learning modules and added a Tutorial Campaign. It's super-dreamy so far. (I'm a pretty big critic on tutorials for complex titles.)



Speaking of dreamy, I nabbed Dysmantle yesterday as it's on sale. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's completely hooked me nevertheless.

Sports a super-satisfying explore/gather/upgrade gameplay loop and the presentation is just aces. Some of the UI elements feel like a mobile game, but it actually works in the game's favor giving a lighthearted comic book vibe. It's quite colorful & striking. Much like the killer 10 Miles To Safety it's a nice juxtapose to the typically dour genre setting.
