Yep, looks like everything remote play(inclusive together) has the same colour palete and interface.
It's a pretty nice looking UI. Shame they've completely neglected the comfy couch mode in the client.

I won't say sorry for buying a game I wanted on PC with all my heart and as it's not the first port capped at 30fps I have played, if that's the price to have nocturne on PC I will pay it.

No, I didn't pay full price if that's what you thinking, I got quite an offer on HB thanks to discounts and it was almost 10€ cheaper (36€) so yeah, I think it's a fair price in MY books.

Monster Hunter World Board Game Kickstarter incoming...

A little curious thing about Monster Hunter boardgames, this same year on January (way before the MH boardgame was announced) there was a kickstarter for a boardgame heavily inspired by MH : They share some similarities from what I've seen, but in this the playground is divided in "zones" instead

iirc several of Squenix's PS1 ports also run on Unity, but are still capped at 30fps, or even 15fps in battles. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't get it, either, but I'm no expert on the challenges of porting older games.
It seems weird. It's like they are somehow recreating the low-level coding of those games, but in Unity? Hard to understand, really.
Would be more understandable if it was something using some kind of emulation, thus re-using the old code as is.
Completely anecdotal but my Tab 6 (I think) died within 3 months and I've heard similar stories about non flagship Samsung tablets.
Have a Tab S6 which bought March last year, and it's still going strong. Though it was a "flagship" device, I guess.
Great purchase if you want to get rid of paper and do everything digitally, as you can write on it using a digital pen. Like this one:

Galaxy S# are the flagships. Tab A/E/whatever are the mid/low tier

license expiration most likely
On that note, one of the more useful curator to follow if you guys care to collect licensed games on steam.

Who even owns/is Apogee anymore? I doubt George and Scott are still involved.

Some questionable games on there me thinks (the bigger licensed games eg Star Wars battlefronts) but good to keep an eye on

What I don't get is that plenty of Unity-based games has unlocked framerate. Even strategy games. Stuff like Desperados 3, Shadow Tactics, Battletech. Even Japanese RPG such as Scarlet Grace, Saga Frontier Remastered, and God Wars just to name a few.

If they need to hit a performance target for the console builds, fine. Lock it to 60fps, but make it a toggle for the PC version. Writing a frame limiter for Unity is pretty trivial. Unless of course, they coupled the animation speed/battle with framerate -- which is a pretty fucking stupid idea in 2021 if you ask me.

Game logic being tied to FPS seems to be more common in Japanese developed games.

And even if a game is a turned-based RPG, the input latency reduction is still noticeable between 30 & 60 fps. I'd rather not go through the menus in an JRPG at 30 fps. It sucks. It feels sluggish. And considering that menus in a JRPG are the primary elements that a player spends most of their time interacting with, why not make the whole process feel smoother and snappier?

I think there was a JRPG on the PS1 that had 60 fps menus but rendered everything else at a lower framerate. I can't recall the game's title.

Hmmm, not sure. Those racing games on PSX I know mostly run at 30fps. Coincidentally, this talk reminds me of the PC version of FF VII, which runs at 15fps for battles and 60fps for maps. :flare_lmao:

Oh, that's it! It's FF7 for the PS1. John from DF did a Retro episode on this.

19:23 is where he talks about the menus running at 60.

Speaking of Desperados:

I've only played the first couple of missions of Desperados 3, but I enjoyed it a lot. It'll certainly gets difficult later on like Shadow Tactics.

With how much I loved Nier, I'll probably cave and buy 1.2, but I have to confess I'm bracing for disappointment after hearing the new recording of Kaine's opening lines. The original voice acting had some raw reads, and they really helped elevate the material. Some of the dialog was pretty corny, but it worked in the game's favor when the vocal performance sounded like someone in genuine distress. The way Kaine's voice in the original opening just keeps cracking and getting to a higher pitch until she's just shrieking sold it, and the new version sounds too controlled by comparison. How are they even supposed to get a delivery as good as the original for the "No one stops" scene? That shit was sooo good.

Honestly I think I'm just a little traumatized after Disco Elysium's Final Cut came out and fucked up a bunch of the best VO from the original release. At least with Nier, it kind of makes sense because they went only with Onierchan, which would necessitate new dialog.

Really crossing my fingers for some Rebuild of Eva shenanigans though. I wouldn't have any issue with the dialog if it was treated as an all new version.

Thanks to madjoki for pointing out the 11bit studios bundle sales page there are currently 3 tiers which might offer to be nice deals depending on the amount of games you own on each bundle tier.

I guess that on Twitter I had a "hot take" about Halo and how it was not that impressive compared to other FPS games.

Peoples main argument was that it standardized the control sceme of FPS......with a controller, sure that's impressive in a way but what else did it do?

from the look of things Scott still involved

It's been a couple decades since the peak of Apogee Software, but company founder Scott Miller and long-time executive Terry Nagy want to breathe new life into the original Duke Nukem developer and Wolfenstein 3D publisher with a new-ish name and a new purpose.

Miller and Nagy today unveiled the slightly rebranded Apogee Entertainment, an indie publisher with four titles under its wing already and aspirations to add more.

Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Miller traced the seed of the new Apogee back to last year, when Nagy approached him with the idea of relaunching the brand along with obtaining the rights to the name from 3D Realms (a former division of Apogee and currently a separate company, of which Miller remains a co-owner).

"We decided here in the last year to resurrect and relaunch Apogee, to kind of reclaim our title as the original indie publisher," Miller says. "We're working with indie developers again and cherry picking what we think are the diamonds in the rough. And there are a lot of diamonds out there."

Nocturne getting released on Steam should be a huge event. The fact that the state of the port is killing the hype really saddens me.

So where are you guys getting Nier? Best deals I'm seeing are around 42 euros.

42 euros seems to be the deal, but it's from a key reseller. Although a more acceptable key reseller
