Maybe some pub doesn't want to kill sales of their game by announcing a freebie too soon.

I am not too surprised. What is the average library size on Steam? :)

I cannot find the paper which I had in mind, but here is another:

Sifa, Rafet, Anders Drachen, and Christian Bauckhage. "Large-scale cross-game player behavior analysis on steam." Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment. Vol. 11. No. 1. 2015.

Most people won't purchase more than 50 games on Steam in their lifetime. And that number would be a best-case scenario for EGS.

That does not mean that Epic is right to dismiss game collectors. However, that is for sure not a priority to them.

from that snippet imo
  • third of 6 millions is still much more collctors than i ever though:drinking-blob:
  • same goes for 50 average games ... for casual AAA only gamer thats still like 2 AAA games a year and some F2Ps (since steam exist)
  • as for the "people play one or few" its kidna missleading with the "similar amounts of time into variety of gammes" , given there are games people spend hunders of hours games on , but majority games are under like 20h.. which is uncoprable to those few 200h+ games

22 games for avg, sounds a lot.

Using my mythology for Steam

at least 11% don't own a game at all, but probably far more

Those who own one at least game:

24% own one
21% own two
8% own three
5% own four

Is the EGS top seller list false or actually reflecting sales? I mean, Blands 3 and Snowrunner are both higher than Days Gone.... I see the list get's updates at least once a day, but the list looks so bad with over 1 year old games on it.

Uploaded all the files so far (including deleted ones, I had)
Epic claimed to have 32 million MAU in 2019 when they wrote their 2020 year in review. That's a pretty large step up from 8 million.

I think Sergiy said it automatically updates once a day based on total revenue for that day.

Also, keep in mind that an active user can be someone logging in within his browser to redeem a free game.
You don't have to start the client to be accounted for.

And the free game after that is probably RAID: SHADOW LEGENDS!

Seriously, my predictions:
1. an old Ubisoft AAA game that has active MTX
2. Genshin Impact
3. a 3- to 8-year-old AAA(A) single-player game
4. a big F2P game with >$100 MTX included

I wonder if they're gonna do the insane couponing again in the Mega Sale.

Okay, I refuse to believe the top seller list is anything but mostly made up by Epic as a dicovery tool due to the store's lack of them. Snowrunner being 3rd place right after Steam release just screams bullshit to me. Either that or Days Gone is also selling horribly or also made up being 2nd place.

Can there be some truth to the top seller list? Of course, but I refuse to believe some of them, like Days Gone, Snowrunner, Valhalla, Hitman 3 etc. are anything but made up.

If it isn't mostly made up then I don't understand it at all.

I think it must be at least partially made up if not fully made up.

I 100% believe they don't have a way to automatically update it. I'm sure someone gets a report of their sales numbers but who knows if the poor store dev who has to update it gets that report.

I'd guess Sonic mania might wind up being one of the mystery games. It's been showing up on the EGS backend for well over a year as well as on the Korean ratings site. Also Sonic's 30th anniversary is in June.

Usually I've had a hard time not caving into EGS sales with coupons, but this time it's been very easy not to keep thinking about the coupons and I don't know why.

I've already picked up any exclusive I care about and no other games I want are yet cheap enough for me to bother with, so nothing for me this time

Honestly the only game I want that's on EGS is Tony Hawk. I don't think it will end up going to Steam after one year anyways since Activision wants to publish their single player games on Battlenet now. I might pull the trigger since the sale price along with the coupon brings the Deluxe Edition down to $22.49.

Battle.net is imo worse than EGS so you are actually for once better of with the EGS version for Tony Hawk than the BNET version as I assume it will only go to BNET.
