It's massively more interesting than Abyss, that's for sure but it's not a hard bar to clear :grimacing-face:
I have none of the selectable 5* (Keqing, Albedo, Mona), so it was fun giving them a try and messing around.
It's super easy again though, and I'm starting to question why I even bother raising characters when we now even have combat events that don't even use them, coming right after a non-combat event.
...Which isn't a great thought to have when "raising characters" is literally your only "end-game" :grimacing-face: :grimacing-face:

But yeah, it's a super solid foundaton for a rogue-like dungeon. Give it a randomized layout, randomized challenges, randomized characters, optionally doable in co-op and maybe a sort of "endless mode" to see how "deep" you can go instead of Abyss. Or something like that.

I like the structure of the event a lot, but having played it now I would agree that it'd be preferable if you could use the characters you've got. For one, I've either never or barely played any of the featured characters so I'm mainly just mashing my way to victory... Would be great to see this type of challenge become a permanent part of the game and not just an event with trial characters.

So... they added a new event, the Battlefront in misty dungeon.
I don't think I even knew this was coming.

And it's kind of dungeon crawler where you get premade characters to choose from, and explore a little level to activate keys and get bonuses through little combat challenges to get access to the second level with a boss-like encounter with stronger monsters.
All of that themed, with a focus on plunging attacks or healing (with environmental help like wind currents as well as traps), and you get more rewards if you complete the sub objectives like killing 10 mobs with plunging attacks.

This is... fun? Like really fun. Their best event by far, and it deserves to outright replace the Abyss, this is the kind of stuff that would make the ideal rogue like dungeon in the game with modifiers and different characters to use?
And this came out of nowhere!
I think this just shows the shortcomings of genshin as it's designed right now. They put in a good foundation and added characters but their long term plans are nonexistent. This leads to everyone capping out and overpowering their characters to the point where there's no legitimate challenge Mihoyo can put in outside of large HP pools, extreme wide range attacks, instakills and fixed roster game modes. This might become more apparent when more maps and story are added too.

I did a bunch of grinding for windtrace coins yesterday, went from 0 to 4800. Never again lol.

Plunging challenge for anyone who doesn't know: Keqing can plunge by herself by holding elemental skill, aiming up and throwing then using skill again to teleport up. Plunging attack works from there. But Albedo is there to put the flower down so it's not really an issue unless you're too lazy and switching characters is a hassle lol.

Blew through those philosophies of resistance from the BP pretty fast. No ragrets 😅

Also, why does Eula need Azdaha drops and not Wolf? He’s a cryo
boss. From Monstadt. Makes no sense. I have so many wolf items…

Well technically Azdaha is a lot of elements :p
But there is no real thought behind which character needs which materials aside from "here's a new weekly boss, now we actually need some characters that use those materials".

Also, whew that’s one big damage sponge of a boss. First time I did the non-story version of him.

Serpent Spine has been really cool so far. It allowed me to use a crit damage circlet that I had, and that combined with the damage buff seems to do appreciably more damage overall. Neat! Not that it’s super necessary but I do like seeing bigger numbers.

Eula is pretty fun so far. It’s a bit of a problem how a lot of her damage is backloaded though. You do silly numbers on the last 10% of a health bar in most encounters. Seems more useful against bosses, of which there are very few.

Edit: by the way, the next banner is supposed to be Klee as I understand it. Previously, that had Xingqui on it as well. He's also in the current one. Can we expect that he'll be back again in the Klee rerun, or will they swap out the featured 4* characters?

Based on previous instances the 4* lineup will change.

It's been a while since we've seen Ningguang on a banner.
But she's usually the consolation prize for unpopular 5* characters, so I doubt it fits for Klee.

Also it's funny that her first banner was Xingqiu, Noelle and Sucrose, aka the trio of the "whatever it will sell anyway".

I’ve got this great ER noblesse hourglass with crit% and dmg substats that would work really well on Xingqui but it’s on Bennet because he’s higher priority for me at the moment. I’ve ran the domain like a dozen times now with no substitute ER hourglass. My suffering is immeasurable. I’ve got everything else ready to go for XQ but that 😭

Aren't Xinqiu and Sucrose real good? I want Sucrose...

The teapot will become more powerful and other stuff

the tl;dr:
  • Increased load limit in Teapot
  • Skipable Tubby dialogue
  • Second floor rooms opened
  • paved roads (but probably not in 1.6)
  • Crafting Bench in Coop
  • Teammates in coop that are faraway will now display in the map

Legitimately pretty excited for these improvements. I moved to the island with the waterfall, and I like it so much more than the one I picked initially. I'll be all over decorating it.

As a consolation prize for not being able to find another noblesse oblige ER hourglass for Xingqui, I got a hydro goblet. It's nice, but I only need two noblesse pieces... The game is actively mocking me :unamused-face:

I'm using him with Yanfei. Her and Xingqiu's bursts really go hand-in-hand well.

In case you didn’t know (and because I almost stepped on this rake), the artifact set bonuses on that only work on the active character that has it equipped (i.e. go away when you swap from ZL). So if you don’t have ZL on the field much and mainly have him for burst damage or shields, you’d be better off with other sets like noblesse, millelith or petra.

Edit: how is it that I've got several artifacts that rolled 4x flat defense or defense% and this almost never happens on other substats.. Just had three decent artifacts that took forever to find ruined. The absolute worst part of this game. Utterly crushing. Gonna have to take a break from the game to recover from that. Oof.

I figured as much. I'm kinda using Zhongli as an off-DPS supporty type deal. He mainly gives shield, but he can put out damage when everyone else is on cooldown, or combined with a support like Chongyun.

Cause the RNG is not enough in itself, both main stat and sub stat upgrades are actually weighted against you. Generally lesser valuable main and substats like def and hp have a higher chance to appear or get upgraded.
Yeah, it sucks. I tried doing some artifact runs again recently and I couldn't even handle a day, it just makes me want to quit the game immediately, lol.

My suggestion would be to just use your Fragile Resin to (hopefully) get things over and done with at once instead of spreading the misery over weeks.
If the main stat is correct, just take it and call it a day.

They will eventually have to improve this cause I don't think there's a single player who actually likes the system and who knows how many have already quit because of that. My plan is to just wait it out until then and just batch-farm like I said above if I really need to. If I'm still playing at the time.

I know someone who decided to farm artifacts for a week or two blind before even looking at what dropped, just so that they didn't have to get disappointed every day. I don't think its sustainably if your only end-game progression system is something the playerbase tries its best to engage with as little as possible or come up with "workarounds" like this in order to not feel like quitting :grimacing-face:

I blew the last of my fragile resin out of frustration on that farm run . Didn't get anything with the right main stats though, so I'm stuck with those artifacts for now. At least it's just Zhongli, so it's not like he's unplayable now. Just full shield bot for the time being. I'll have to go at it again at some point to get at least not actively bad artifacts... I got shockingly decent rolls for Eula's gear though, so there's that. Guess it had to balance out somehow.

On a lighter note, I leveled up Diona but ended up swapping to Kaeya anyway as my Eula battery. I settled for Zhongli, Beidou and Kaeya for the Eula team. Tall squad! Also got the C2 for Beidou, and that's been a nice upgrade! If I come across Fischl eventually I might just swap out Kaeya and go double electro.

Ah, also, I couldn't help myself and ended up messing around with various settings to see if I could get minimize the stutter in the game, but it was pointless in the end. Found way to force exclusive fullscreen, but that didn't do it either. I did come across this weird quirk where some of the stutter seem to happen at intervals, but the length of the intervals vary. So, for example, there's this odd stutter for me when I'm just looking at the map, and sometimes it'll happen every 10 seconds. Other times, it's every 20. When standing in Monstadt city, they'd sometimes happen at an interval of once per minute on the dot, sometimes every one and a half minutes. Odd. When moving around it seems completely random though.

The stutter also looks like the game drops 4-5 frames for a split second. So, if I set my frame rate cap to 60, it'll drop to 55. But if I cap it at 55, it'll drop to 50. The lower you go, the more it seems like it's consistent with 10% of the current frame rate target. So If you set it at 40, it'll drop 4, and at 30 it'll drop 3. So busted.

I kinda do this, I play with my gf most of the time and I eventually didn't want to make her wait while I look through my inventory so I'll usually play till I reach the item limit and do a big cleanout afterwards. She can't believe I ever reach 1000 artifacts but I've done it 3 times so far. Fun fact, did you know the game won't let you roll gacha if you're close to the artifact limit despite gacha not giving artifacts to begin with?

Anyways, it sucks that if you have a defense stat anywhere on your item it's more or less condemned to be fodder.

If there's one thing I got out of the current event it's that Albedo rocks and I'd love to run him in a dual geo team with Zhongli.

Edit: Having played a bunch with Beidou and Kaeya as supports, they're really good and fun! Beidou in particular is very strong. I was dissapointed at first that I didn't get any Xingqui constellations from this banner, but I'm pretty glad that I got Beidou now. I'd love to have a Sacrificial GS for her. That'd make her even better and free up her artifacts for more damage.

I usually play the weekly bosses and co-op event stuff with a friend who has Albedo, and yeah he's super neat. Really low investment (his best weapon is a 3* and he wants Def on artifacts) and you just plop his skill down, swap to your dps and enjoy a lot of passive off-field damage. Only downside is that Geo constructs aren't really all that reliable for most bosses, they get destroyed almost immediately usually.

Pairs amazing with Zhongli as well. Geo resonance + way better energy regen for Zhongli and you can actually put a Millelith set on Albedo (the 2p bonus is useless, but the 4p is even better on him then on Zhongli cause his flower has such a big range and can easily be repositioned, which means 100% 4p uptime essentially) which then buffs Zhongli's Atk + Shield strength constantly and then Zhongli can be geared for full DPS while still being a shieldbot.
...I kinda want him, ngl.

Beidou is great fun too. She's currently my main DPS in my commission team, though far from being actually built. It's just rando artifacts and not much talent levels.
But pulling her parry off is so satisfying (even if you just light the grass on fire and stay in it :p). And her Burst is supposedly massively powerful as long as you're fighting at least 2 enemies, but I haven't really been using it much.

Started playing with Yanfei now that Ningguang is friendship 10, and she's probably my favorite character. She's so fast and smooth, unlike the other catalyst users which definitely have some clunktastic moments to them.

And Beidou is always fun Ascheroth .
So unique and interesting, plus definitely a support powerhouse in the future with an electro buff. Her energy troubles are the big downside, because otherwise she's electro Xingqiu but more active.
Got her to C6 on the current banner, and it must be said that her 15% electro debuff in aoe will be bonkers once we have some actually decent electro chars.

Yeah, Beidou's burst is really strong and spreads to a lot of enemies quickly. Great for Eula with how you can superconduct everything for a little while. The one downside is its high energy cost. I've got to find a good ER hourglass piece for her. Despite not having finished gearing my second team, I managed to get to 9-1 in the abyss with them. The enemies being underleveled helps. Hope I can make some more progress there before the reset!

I'm not entirely sure why I keep playing this... I've completed all the content save for the hangouts (which I've unlocked but not bothered with after the first). So, I'm basically just seeing how high I can pump the numbers on my favs. There are a lot of things I dislike about the game, but it has a certain je ne sais quoi that keeps pulling me back in. Very strange. It is easily the most fun I've had with a F2P game (not named Destiny 2), for sure.

By the way, I'll have a tiger-striped cat, shiba and northland hound for sale in my teapot. I've got all of them already, so if you want one of those, feel free to buy them! :blobmorning2:

(And lmk if you sent a friend request, I got a few random ones the other day (presumably random), and I tend to just ignore them otherwise.)

I like the Hangouts quite a bit overall, not all routes or chars are equal though.
I'm not sure which one you've done, but if it wasn't Bennett's, do his, it's probably the best of them all. Really liked that one.

And yeah it has problems for sure and even if I frequently complain about artifacts and other stuff I still have fun jumping in, running around and doing a bit of fighting and stuff.

And we got a trailer for 1.6:

That looks pretty nice.
New area, new boss, Beidou appearance, Inazuma setup.

I did the one for Bennett, yeah. It was alright, but a little tedious to go back and forth between spots, and a skip to new function would be nice. I'll do the rest eventually for the talent books and primos.

The new content looks fun! Not looking forward to that event with the Oceanid though. Such a pain. Whenever they spawn the birds I just bow out and retry. None of the characters I've build are ranged, and I can't seem to reach them with my melee units :negative-blob:

I'm genuinely looking forward to Jean's costume. Wish it wasn't that expensive. On the other hand, the new archon quest seems very interesting. The one thing I really like about this game is the world-building, if they won't mess up it will be really fun to follow throughout.

I was secretly hoping that the skin gave you the character but even then that would’ve been too rich for my taste 😅

I've read a couple of times that the gacha rates in GI are not good, but are they that much worse than other such games? The only gacha that I invested any significant time in other than GI was the Shin Megami Tensei one (which was really fun imo) and iirc people said the same about that. I find it difficult to imagine that there's one that doesn't heavily incentivize whaling.

Depends on the gacha, some of them have no pity and are by design the very worst, some have better rates or are more generous with their pulls (Genshin having no daily gift of any sort except the monthly calendar on their website is really strange).

But it's more of what you get beyond your most wanted item that matters, and Genshin really fails here by being so stingy with anything of value, even extra starglitters beyond C6 are barely worth anything. Usually you get more stuff to trade or items that help your characters beyond 1/50th of a weapon lvl.

Also, I just looked at the event notes for the double talent book thing, and it says that you only get double stuff if you use original resin... So then condensed resin is a no-go? Worth to keep in mind if you go grinding I guess. When I heard about the event, my intial thought was to hoard condensed resin for a day or two in advance.

Right. All of these feel relatively stringy, but I don't have a lot of points of reference to begin with. No one further than C3 either, but that does sound like a bummer. I presume it's the usual rate of 5 starglitter? Getting something equivalent like 30 starglitter to spend on the rotating shop 4* would be nice.

The rates are really low, the 3* "consolation prices" are essentially worthless, dupes beyond C6 are barely worth anything and they are very stingy with primogems and free pulls (even if only on the standard banner).
This is only somewhat balanced by having a pity system (which means it's automatically not as bad as any game without pity) and them being so slow at releasing new characters that the low primo income is not as bad as it could be.

I've played a ton of gacha honestly, whether its FGO, AL, Honkai, Granblue or smt's DX2.
The only one I've liked are GI and SMT's gacha system as they have a pity system, yes the rates are awful in GI but at least it guarantees you. I've seen friends spending ton and not getting the character they wanted in FGO. Never was able to stick with any gacha games, because they felt very cheap (had to leave dx2 because I actually preferred playing the actual game lol) but GI just feels like a proper game. So, I'm playing it since day 1 and it hasn't bored me yet.
I won't really say GI is better, but it feels less shitty than others. at least if I spend, I know what I'll be getting.

Today is that day of the week again. The day I hit the artifact domains :negative-blob:

May the RNG bless me.

Edit: well, that was quick. I was not blessed. In any way. Thundersoother sets as far as the horizon (and a cryo Thunderstorm goblet). This game sometimes... More fodder for my not useless artifacts, I guess.

I'm gonna say sus until there's more details. Don't think Raiden is even in any beta yet and "as broken as Venti" feels weird, cause Venti isn't that broken anymore and they can always shift the "meta" to favorise her, like how Zhongli is currently easy the strongest character cause they heavily pushed content that favors and/or relies on shields.
And if they know more, like current kit or something they should just post instead of teases like this.

I wouldn't trust numbers and balance before the characters are live.
They've already made huge changes for some chars like Albedo and Ganyu that nobody knew about because those were untested last time balance passes.

And yeah, I also find the Venti worship odd, as much as I like him, he wasn't even on the level of Sucrose as a DPS, and is pointless in 90% of the newer content being big mobs...

Nah, I'd say he's a better DPS then Sucrose, but Sucrose can make your other DPS much stronger.
He's still the best at CC when it comes to small mobs (but they're getting less) and does a lot of damage with little investment.
He's still really really good, but I kinda disagree with using him as the benchmark.

I really want Venti. Those old man shoes are too bold a fashion choice not to have him in my lineup.

Hmm. Usually, I'd do talent books on sunday, but since we've got event coming up, it would probably be wiser to go for artifacts? Not sure I can handle two days in a row of that though. Yesterday, I got like eight 5* thundersoother artifacts and only one thundering fury... Oof.

I got Zhongli's Burst to 9 yesterday. It's not like I'm really using it since he's just my shieldbot but lol if I have anything "worthwhile" to spend Resin on, so I'm just levelling whatever I'm in the mood for at any one day. As long as it keeps me from doing artifacts, I'm fine.

It does 50k crits with Shield + Geo resonance (but I think I forgot to trigger Ning's geo buff).
That's pretty good considering I'm running a 3* weapon on him (level 90 though, to be fair lol), and half the artifacts are shiiiit. :dmcblob:
I guess I'll try and "finish" Ganyu next, going for that 10/9/9. Never really using her burst much either, but ¯\(ツ)
