Reasons why E3 is bad for the industry #354
And this isn't "new" by "new" I'm referring to how 2 years ago there was that thing we're E3 attendee personal data was high jacked.

I finished planning my playtime for this month. Going to swap between Just Cause 3 and Iris and the Giant. Now let's try to stick to the plan.

I guess they really hate the Life of Black Tiger meme.
I looked a little Into how games get chosen for PS and it seems that so long as you have a planning thing that you could still be chosen. Maybe its possible that they "conned" the system and instead of further developing the game they just choose to ship it? Was it like a PS4 launch title or something?

No, it was released in 2017. Originally a mobile game. Not sure if there is any relationships between the game and the curation system now, but its my first thought reading your post.

For E3 I tend to watch the PC Gaming Show and the MS conference. As these are the easiest to parse whether the games are coming to PC. A lot of the other stuff tends to be at times when I am/should be asleep. Usually by the time I am up the next morning all the usual "EXCLUSIVE" bullshit is sorted out and I can figure out what trailers to check out.

After that there is only so many fake audiences I can tolerate any given day (hint, 0). Not that much of an issue this year, or last either.

The only way I can watch E3 is with E3Recap. Seeing them trot out the usual disingenuous statements about consoles, the ubi and EA crapshoot and all that has gotten too old for me.

Also, morning meta.

Over the last few years i've watched the Giant Bomb "We Talk Over..." E3 Conferences streams then i'll watch whatever stream or trailers that were interesting and i've usually had the Nintendo Treehouse streams on in the background while i was working.

I'll usually have the relevant MetaChat open too if someone has created one for a conference.

I always liked E3, especially in the more recent years; for the exposure it gives to tiny ass games and developers. It's a great sight to have a small indie with a strong artstyle sandwiched between two giant AAAs. At least one good thing coming out of ballooning costs, they have to fill their conference with others.

Much less of a fan of the bullshot trailers for games that never release as is. Interesting that it was Sony's modus operandi for ever but is now more of a Microsoft thing, though. I guess we'll get another fake trailer for Banjo or whatever they have after Perfect Dark and Fable.

I am very excited towards this year E3 after the mess last year. Most publishers should have good things to show. And as Line has said, the variety in recent years is going up and most audience will have something new to look forward to.

I hope Microsoft had noticed the backlash last year and will show more gameplay rather than CGI trailers this year. On the other hand, I am most excited towards Nintendo's showcase, They have literally nothing dated in the second half of 2021, so I am finger-crossed for some bombshells.

Last but not least, if you are interested, do tell us your expectations and dreams this year. I will probably modify mine during the upcoming weekend to make last-minute changes.

UT2004 was on 6 discs?
6 CDs or 2 DVDs iirc. I forget if I didn't have a DVD drive or it's just what version was readily available here. Probably the former though, I'm always late with tech.

Edit: less than 3GB install, lol  still looks rad though.

I'm completely addicted to Warhammer 40k Inquisitor, a great aRPG from the creators of the Van Helsing games. It's so much better than I expected, but for some reason no one in my friends list has played it...
tbh i remember refunding this one mostly for the biggest sin of being online-only and the devs idiotic comments about possibility of it ever allow offline play
Plus it was super bad on launch

I'm knee deep into Minoria. Hopefully I can knock it out and get to Backbone by this weekend.

It's also on Game Pass and is already available to download.
Nice. 1.9gb.

I have done minor digging about the publisher called Sold Out, to try to figure out why Valve would refuse to provide a large batch of keys for the Choice.

First, some conspiracy theory:
  • they are listed as the publisher of MechWarrior 5 on Steam, with a release date in 2021 (May 27),
  • the same game is listed on EGS, self-published by Piranha Games, with a release date in 2019 (December 10):
I don't know if this game was truly self-published on EGS. If not, could it be that Valve holds a grudge against Sold Out for this reason?
Second, here is an observation of inconsistent behaviour of the Steam store.
This is what Steam returns if I search for them on the store (in a private window, without any Steam-related add-on):

This is what their curator page shows: it is missing MechWarrior 5 and Brewmaster, but maybe it is a bug on Steam. :doubtblob:

Maybe linked to that bug:
  • if you click on the publisher name on the store page of MechWarrior 5, you get redirected to the search results,
  • if you do the same on the store page of Disjunction, you get redirected to the curator page.

So... is that a bug? :face-with-open-mouth-and-cold-sweat: Or a feature? :evilblob:
Third, an observation about the Humble Store:
Humble Store sells Steam keys for Disjunction. 🙉 And no GOG key! :🙈
So, if the pub says the truth about Valve's denial of their request, it is only the quantity which is an issue. 🦉

just FYI company that owns Piranha Games which also owns Sold Out publisher , back in the time of EGS release Piranha Games was independent

Finished it recently. I had to replay the whole game because it doesn't support cloud saves and I had some issues with my computer when I played the game during it's release.

It's not long and I still remembered mostly of the parts, even had a more easier time defeating the bosses without getting hit so I could get their incenses/weapons.

It's still online only (no disconnects so far tho) but it seems the game has been strongly improved since launch, especially with the prophecy expansion. My only "complaint" is that you can only use 4 skills during battle. Still having a blast with it.

oh snap, is that how it's done? lol. I beat the first boss w/o getting hit, maybe I should try a bit harder on the others.

While looking up some more on Minoria, I found a few more metroidvania/platformers that look neat

First is a mushroom-vania:

second is a robot-vania? (loud)

Give me all this. I'm there for it.

Yeah it was the same way in Momodora Reverie Under the Moonlight.

The second boss drops a useful sword who does more base damage than the other weapons. Still about the weapons, some have a different moveset and it can help getting in higher places chaining Jump > Air Attack > projectile spell > Air Attack > projectile spell etc.

Those two games looks interesting.

Literally no clue who this is and there is no sauce but.
I do find it amusing that one of Xbox's... not stand-out exclusives, but one of the ones with a lot of potential, seems to just kinda be Sony's now?

Source is on the other site in th PS OT, don't know the user tho, but the source is there.
I checked that source too, yet to be verified by mods, but the users says a defintive edition of Bb is coming to PS5 and PC, seems like PC is later.

At this point I don't care about rumors, only announcements from Playstation itself.
