A thought on EGS, instead of buying exclusives why don't they focus on making their store better? Steam is old and has a lot of backend stuff, so it's very hard to change stuff without messing stuff up (this is very likely why SIE ditched the old PSN web store and why the Xbox 360 web store is different than the current Xbox marketplace one.

Steam isn't perfect and it's still being worked on. I mean one of the features that people would like to see would be midnight releases. I'm told that's something that Valve could actually let publishers set up? But they choose not to. In a way I guess it makes sense as to why they don't allow it since the whole Valve team is based off Pacific Time, so they would be asleep or something just in case there was an issue (handling Steam back end stuff?)

Just a thought.
Making their store better alone wouldn't be enough to attract users, but instead of exclusives they should have tried to come up with something that Steam doesn't do, like how MS has Gamepass nowadays. (What that something would be? Now that's for them to figure out, with all the data Galyonkin got through Steamspy, is exclusives the best they could come up with...?)

I have a friend that still still shouts at lens flare every time it crops up. It used to be everygoddamwhere and it still sends him mad - especially in places where it really shouldn't be a thing.
Horizon used them a lot for the robots. Didn't really bother me as much, as the unnatural look kinda helps underscore how the robots don't fit well into this natural, wild world.

Not sure I remember a game that used them in a super annoying way. Maybe Mass Effect?

Lightning Returns stutters like crazy. What's funny is that if I play at 60fps it drops into the 40's so there should at least be overhead to play at 30, but when locking it to 30 it drops into the 20's. I can't with these fucking ports. No way I'm gonna play it like this.

Gonna take a break from all these rpgs and play something with some mindless action, probably Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Improving the store adds to the baseline cost of the service (from a poitn of view of getting new people on contract and additional costs of hosting non profitable components / functions). When you are working on a very thing profit margin by default, you need to be extra careful about what you are adding to ensure you dont go above it. That is the reason why they are mostly working on Epic Online Services they can bundle as a cost for Epic inside the Unreal Engine division.

There is also the part that EGS is not the main thing Epic cares about in the entire project, as the Store itself wont be the main bread winner, but just a tool to get people to stick in Epic games universe, so it is not as important to have a shiny store that brings people in, but rather something that just makes people still with Fortnite / Rocket League / Fall Guys.

Yeah, I learnt from them. Mine is actually just a timetable lol. :D

And I also find a site called Backloggd. Pretty neat site to track everything like finished games, those games I currently playing, backlog and wishlist.
I love having a spreadsheet to plan out how I'll go through my backlog. Just makes things easier.

Can't bring up specifics, becasue I am forgetful, but I can say it was was pretty much everywhere on Playstation & XBox as it was a cheap effect to do.
In the end, ALL lens flares used to drive him mental, especially the multi ringed ones because they require multiple sources of reflection.
A multiple ring lens flare as you look around a forest scene makes no sense unless you were wearing multiple sets of glasses inside a diving helmet, in a car thats in a greenhouse.

Planning on how to approach your backlog is easy. Sticking with the plan is harder
Plan within plan. I participate in Backlog Blltz but lately I have difficulty sticking to those games. Now with this gaming schedule, the blitz plan becomes goal. I am pretty confident that the next blitz (provided that no hindrance from events irl) should go according to plan.

Basically,

I don't even know if I am joking

That's very true. Mine's more simple, though. There's no time schedule, just lists what games I've completed or not, which game I want to play next and whether I want to play a game after or before a certain one, and also how I should purchase a game in terms of waiting for price cut or buying it as a physical release. It's too stressful for me to include a time and date schedule so I don't.

While playing Ratchet yesterday, the game crashed back to PS5 menu 3 times and that made me realize there is no centralized support and discussion forum/system for console game crashes like with PC games, like with Steam games. I have no idea how to fix whatever made the game crash as I have no access to files and stuff either. Only thing I could do was to report it to Sony. I've done that before with PS4 games (reporting crashes to Sony), but nothing happened afaik.

I also remember that Outriders devs had problems finding out about EGS users Outrisders problems because EGS doesn't have any centralized system for problems like Steam.

One more thing...

Played the first 2 chapters of Death Mark. This is pretty cool. Interesting story and the adventure/exploration/"detective" parts are neat.
It's sufficiently creepy/disturbing as well.
But I always have to chuckle whenever the "it's dangerous" music kicks in, Operation Abyss has the same one :grimacing-face:

Speaking of backlog management, I've been recently using this android app, "Game Backlog", and I really like how thorough it can be while still being pretty straightforward to use. I considered just using spreadsheets or one of these websites, but I can't use my pc much these days and my phone internet is pretty unreliable so a good phone app was pretty convenient for me! You can also sort the games by many categories. I especially like sorting them by genre or platform.

I particularly like how you can add "to-do" notes to any game you add there, which is pretty helpful for those times when you read about critical fixes or tips for certain games but just end up forgetting all about them when the time comes to actually play the games! I also like setting different priorities for games so when I'm choosing a new game to play I can just focus on the games I need to play urgently. This way instead of staring at thousands of games and being confused by what to play first, I can stare at tens of games and be confused by what to play first 😆

I found out that I'm REALLY in the mood for peaceful, non violent, chillax games with feels.
So let's browse my Steam library and install a couple.
...
I have issues :sweaty-blob:

PS. Still looking for other reccs, because I obviously don't have enough chill games.

PS2. Looking at Dorfromantik, Townscrapers, Islanders, among others.

As a follow up to my chill games post, that feels when you see, for example, Dorfromantik at 8.99 and think, 'maybe it will be discounted in the summer sale ?'

I was just looking at gg and found a nice 20% discount.
I guess I can't be too greedy, probability that the summer sale beats that price in any meaningful way is ridiculous. And even then, it's really cheap now.

Summer sale discount will likely be 20% as well on steam.
I look up gg.deals at least every other day mainly to see if any notable big discounts pop up.

WHY IS FINAL FANTASY TACTICS STILL NOT ON STEAM
Because Square Enix.

I didn't get to play WoW growing up since I was a kid and couldn't afford a subscription but this hit me in the feels hard with how MMOs have changed since the 2000s. It feels all so streamlined that it kinda kills the moments where you just chill in town and eventually make new friends. Then again I haven't touched a MMO in a while but if I was playing one I would probably be way too focused on progression.

Maybe I'm just being a boomer and seeing things in rose-coloured glasses.

Are you using the in-game frame limiter? It's broken and you should avoid it. Try capping the FPS with RTSS or SpecialK.
