RIP LAN Play and Coop for mods
A: TCP/IP support will not be available in the upcoming Beta or the final game. After careful
deliberation, we will no longer be supporting this option as we identified potential security risks and are committed to safeguarding the player experience.

can't say I'm shocked, but turns out that Psychonauts 1 has not aged very well in 2021. not the platforming, not the level design (in the gameplay sense, not the art direction one), and definitely not the combat or the use of finite lives

oh well, still excited for the sequel

After reading up what they did to Burning Crusade Classic...
The only risk they are afraid of is not being able to sell pets, items or other gimmicks.

Blizzard of old is long gone
And Activision-Blizzard turned into everything they swore to never become.

Yeah, i suspect the "security" they're talking about is actually "Securities" as in stocks and shares if they can't funnel people through their launcher to the MTX store 100% of the time.

edit: hah, i looked at reddit and people are saying the exact same thing as me. I R of mainly being a genius.
edit: also the impact will be to things like LAN and Speedrunning as they used the TCPIP and private servers for map rerolls etc.

Face it, this isn't Blizzard of old, this is Activision shambling around in Blizzard's skin. Like the bugs wearing an Edgar suit in MIB.

Hard pass, then. Such a shame what happened to Blizzard's attitude towards game after World of Warcraft. I remember they removed LAN from Starcraft 2 to be able to control tournaments and their monetization, while using some bullshit argument.

This is what made me skip buying Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, not going to change now.

Deus Ex also fixed on Wine. Apparently, I had to use dgVoodoo2, disable Vsync and enable multicore fix in the Visible Upgrade mod. Whatever works I guess.

At this point, pretty much all my non-Steam games I play fairly regularly work. All that's left is modding Temple of Elemental Evil which will probably be a chore since the Circle8 launcher requires Java. Don't feel like tackling that on right now. All in all, gaming on Linux isn't that bad. If I managed to get all those old games running eventually, new games that mostly need a Vulkan wrapper should be a breeze. The most annoying thing are non-Steam games with proprietary anti-cheats, since I doubt Valve is going to do anything about those. Hopefully Riot doesn't add Vanguard to LoL any time soon.

Saw German review of upcoming Glitchpunk Early Access and it's apparently really bad, technical issues, wonky controls, boring gameplay, lifeless, bland visuals, the list goes on. Legit shocked.
That’s… not what I want to hear christ sakes. Was going to pick it up at release :confounded-face:

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully they fix everything before 1.0 release

Didn't Valve say they are working with those anti cheat tools to get them to play nice with Proton? I think there was even one developer of a big multiplayer game (forgot the name sadly) that said he already saw it running on Deck, implying they are working with valve on this.

There's always hope that for some reason it just rubbed that particular reviewer the wrong way and the worst tech problems get ironed out quickly.

FromSoftware make other games other than Souls challenge. Ubisoft get shit on because 'they make the same game every year' yet From does the same and gets praise. I don't get it.
Ubisoft makes the same game every few months 🙃 but yes they've been making souls games for a while now.

From's games are actually good.

Besides, if we're talking the actual Souls series then no shit? They're all sequels. But if you think Bloodborne and Sekiro are both "the same" then I'm assuming you haven't played them so I'm not sure why you care either way. 🤷‍♂️

Fromsoft made the last souls game 5 years ago?
Also all their games are unique in their own style.

You also bring up Ubisoft who have made 3 Assassins Creed games since 2017...

The comparison doesn't really make sense.

They're not 'literally the same game' just as FarCry 4 and 5 are not the same game. Like yeah they're thematically different but they're still third person action games with a twist or two.

What I meant was it would be cool if From did something else for a change other than yet another action game.

Far Cry 4 and 5 and are as much "the same game" as Dark Souls II and III. At least, going by how I interpreted your initial comment. They're not "literally the same" game no but you're the one who said they "keep making the same game like Ubisoft" so I'm confused as to why you're making that distinction now.

My point was Bloodborne and Sekiro are each their own thing and I expect Elden Ring to follow suit.

I really want to get Naraka but I'm sure that the game will be dead here because of its regional pricing... still, it was so fun during the playtests earlier.

This sucks.
