Bravely Default 2, initial impressions from posts in the community hub, it supports arbitrary resolutions and framerate (despite the store page screenshots being 720p), but it doesn't seem to support ultrawide.

I have never heard of this. One Paradox game was an (early-access) exclusive for one year (Surviving the Aftermath). But perhaps I missed this?

According to bullet point 105 in this article, Epic was looking to get Paradox to put their entire library on EGS, presumably get CK3 as an exclusive and leave Steam entiretly. I'm guessing Paradox went with Valve and MS instead since CK3 came to Steam and Game Pass and never arrived on EGS. Victoria 3 appears to be following the same pattern as CK3 as it's coming to Steam and Game Pass and there hasn't been an EGS version announced (yet).

For all the shit I give game pass, I hope devs/pubs who have to decide between EGS or game pass decides on game pass as it allows the Steam version at the same time.

I assume it's likely going to be strictly PS5 stuff.
 
Bravely Default has me curious, but I don't know if I'll enjoy it. I like my JRPG's without too much cruft and with writing that isn't super basic.

Surprising Xbox got it right. Somehow they made access to their big AAA games so much cheaper with gamepass all while the rest of the industry is making it more expensive. Phil Spencer deserves a lot of credit.

Well, I have tested 2 games today, Bravely Default 2 and Shaddai, both run smoothly even tho they are barebone ports.

No PC stuff at all in the event, if they announce any port it will be hidden in the middle of press notes and blodposts.

Shit, didn't work, I'll have to continue my troubleshooting.

EDIT: Using my Xbox wireless adapter instead of bluetooth fixed it.

for barebones Squenix PC ports, it's hard to beat Trials of Mana. runs fine but there are no configurable graphics options of any kind besides resolution, windowed/borderless/fullscreen, and max framerate

glad to hear El Shaddai at least runs well despite the bizarre settings menu

If you're going in expecting PC announcements, don't. As you said, 100% PS5 announcements.

Any PC announcements they're ready to make will come a few days before or after this event, I think.

Tried Bravely Default 2 myself, let's see:

  • The resolutions for the fullscreen mode are only the basic ones, 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 4k, but borderless mode runs at the desktop's resolution.
  • In the fullscreen mode, it doesn't accept resolutions higher than what the monitor supports even with DSR enabled and the resolution set to higher in the desktop, borderless is fine though.
  • With an undervolted and underclocked 3060 Ti (1770 MHz, I want to keep the power consumption as low as possible while keeping a high enough clock), it runs between 60 and 180+ fps at 4K maxed in the early parts (I intend to play at 1080p60 anyway).

This must be what I was thinking of. Thought it was all part of a buyout offer, my bad.
Still, if things are looking dire and the CEO was out due to that, this might have played a reason

It is really impressive how much content they've been pumping out recently.
There was a lull early in the year but recently they are basically releasing a full fledged DLC every 6 weeks for free. And there's still one Inazuma island left :sweaty-blob:
It will probably slow down sooner or later, but still. Whew.

On the contrary, while you might not be influential in terms of size, you have contracts with different Japanese publishers who use more than one engine so providing such information might be interesting because Valve sees the potential of Asia market and you already have experience in that regard.

It's been a while since a game world has "stayed" with me several days after finishing it..... but the Psychonauts 2 one sure did.

I really want to see more of these characters. Hopefully it doesn't take another 16 years, otherwise I'm going to need all the accessibility options they can offer....

Meanwhile they could at least add a new game plus mode. Wouldn't mind replaying it after a while - hmmm, can probably "simulate" one with the CheatEngine.

Nothing to be expected on the PC front I think.

I guess they don't have anything left for 2021 PC wise, Days Gone was pretty much it huh.

It seems like it'd be suicide to remove those from Steam as the community around the games is heavily built off modding etc. Not exclusively of course, but people that muck about with mods are usually the ones driving a lot of the hype around those ones. I suspect game pass players amount for almost nothing for these games.

I played this a long time ago and enjoyed it. A tad clunky but it was a nice, short walking game.

I might have to actually buy Tales of Arise since it has no Denuvo, even though I don't plan to play it anytime soon.

Where's the best price?
 
I actually expect to see PC-related announcement after the Sony show.



As God of War 2 may be there, my optimistic expectation would be some kind of enhancement for the original God of War on PS5... then PC version through a subsequent tweet.
