XSEED is featured in the weekend sale.

If you can only pick up one game, my recommendation would be this.

Of course, you should pick up Trails too if you haven't.

The only thing for SURE : if you don't write, if you don't create, no one will notice you, either the audience or the employers. So why not try ?
Sorta in the mood to try to fight my inertia, instantly get demotivated. Story of my life.
But on a more constructive note, what would I even do ? I mean, I don't think I have it in me to be one of those people making 2h video essays about games. So what ? A blog with news, reviews etc ? Isn't it already passé now ? Streaming is where a very few will make serious money but at this point, based on what I watched, it is a separate job, you really have to be more of an entertainer than a journalist/writer/whatever.
But writing about games when everyone and their mother rush into the streaming gold rush ? And in what language ? At first glance I would say in English, French would limit my potential reader pool.
Just thinking out loud, why would I achieve something after years of losing.
...
To be fair, it's not like I tried much.

Tried to split a big goal into stages that are achievable. Take written gaming journalism as an example:
Main goal: Writing about videogames to be a full-time paid job
1. Write one article for one game. Share it on whatever place, like MC. See what others said about your article.
2. Write another article for another game. Share it. Collect comments.
3. Now you have experience. Plan out what do you want to write so you can produce an article in a regular interval.
4. Write another article according to your plan. Share it. Collect comments.
5. Start putting your three articles onto a platform that many people can access and may generate revenue.
......

Just an example. I know nothing about gaming journalism so I may be very wrong on those steps. The main idea is to focus on the stages rather than the big goal. No one can build a skyscraper out of thin air. One brick at a time. :cat-heart-blob:

Unfortunately I can’t offer any advice on this. I went down a more standard career path.

however there is a guy i watch on YouTube for his MMO content. However he recently hit 200 thousand subs and did a video on his past, present and future. I am not saying this is the way to go, however it may offer some inspiration.

So an update on the Steam Deck and some information (nothing major). It seems that most of the people that have gotten one seem to be devs with games that have sold rather well or that that I guess that they feel have a game from a unique genre.

It possible that they have also sent one to some bigger AAA devs as well but I doubt that since those devs would likely only do stuff to optimize for the Steam Deck if there was a money insensitive. Which is why bigger sized indie devs are their main target. And from the looks of it, it's also not bad marketing since devs are showing their games running on it but some of them are even mentioned how much the like the system.

I've been looking into what devs in Japan have gotten a Steam Deck and so far it's mainly been that one dev from illusion, Neko works also got a Steam Deck (I'm still confused if Neko Is have their own Steam Deck or if they are sharing with Sekai, for some reason) also the devs of Craftopia also got one as well. The Illusion devs really seems to likes theirs and travels around with it. It may end up being niche but it does seem like it may end up having a strong following.

What's the word on Konami and sales? I'll definitely get the Castlevania Advance Collection sooner or later and it's not even a terrible price for 4 games in the end.
But since I continue to be broke I'm waiting for a sale.

fake edit: Looks like the previous Anniversary Collection had 50% sale in 6ish months, and 75% in 18ish months.

Been playing Bloodhunt recently and I kind of want to play Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. Anywhere I can get it cheap? It seems like it used to go for $5 but now only goes to $10 on sale.

I also want to try and get into RTS games. Anything you recommend I try first? Anything I should look for in a sale?

For RTS’ you really can’t go wrong with Command and Conquer. Has been on sale a couple of times as well.

outside of that Starcraft is always worth a shot. Early warcrafts where still good when I last played them, just avoid the awful reforged.

more modern ones i am not so sure off.

edit: being a fan of all things 40K not sure how I forgot Dawn of War I & II. There is no third game. At all.

This then leads to Company of Heroes 1 & 2 as well.

Not quite the same, but you can’t go wrong with Total War either. I personally prefer the more Fantastical Total Warhammer and the 3 Kingdoms one.

I think that every big studio got a dev kit, there's no way that Valve isn't working with them to get their games optimized. The lack of Steam Deck-related social media posts from them might be because there are several management layers between developers in a big company and the PR department, or because they will be part of some future big media push closer to launch.

Yeah, he is no Bob Hoskins. That is only half jokingly, Bob Hoskins was a great actor and The Long Good Friday is a great film.
reminds me of the time Troy baker was on Dropped Frames.
Basically, you get more work if you have a distinct voice (with range) than someone who can sound like Donald Duck, Mario, Homer Simpson, and all the other famous voices. Why? Because there are thousands of other people who can do the same.

If you want to dive into RTS for zero bucks, there's a lot of possiblities.

OpenRA is basically all the Command & Conquer games :

OpenRA - Classic strategy games rebuilt for the modern era

And Zero-K is a free Supreme Commander 1, my personal favorite RTS ever.

Yeah, look at someone like Brian Blessed. Can give some great Shakespearean performances.

Then we get absolutely bonkers Brian Blessed that will give us the absolutely brilliant GORDON'S ALIVE.

Side note, Queen should have gotten the Oscar that year for the Flash Gordon soundtrack and not John Williams.

I want SMTV on PC dammit. It looks great but you can see from the trailers the framerate will be like 10-20 FPS
I mean, that's one that I can see coming to PC if that's what you are wondering.

From all the games that were on the leak and were on the Nintendo direct, at least.

So uh... base game Rise when?

I still haven't touched Iceborne lmao and I'm gonna be super busy with school for the next year and a half :upside-down-face:
yeah i thought it was a little odd they announced the expansion for pc before we even have a release date for the base game. i certainly hope they're not gonna make us wait until summer 2022??
While it doesn't have a set release date, the PC version of base Rise was announced for early 2022, I find it likely to release in January.

I must say that yesterday we got a lot of great projects, not all of them (not counting 1st party ofc) but most of them and that's a good sign, it means PC is well positioned and it delivers in terms of sales performance to justify ports.

still gotta remember that the list isn't always 100% right sure, in terms of specific details of course
it got a goooood amount of stuff right, but we gotta remember that they do have some things not-right, like catherine full body, whatever the canned projects are etc

if it comes to PC, good for them
i just want a reason to play my Switch (and buy my first ever actual physical premium edition of a game)

I'd say it's likely that SMT5 comes to PC eventually, same as Persona 5.
Though with Sega and Atlus in particular it's not exactly easy to predict when.

I have no reason to think that SMT V isn't one of the right ones, it's one that isn't to weird to happen.

Others? yeah, might be more difficult but overall I think the safe ones are a given.

That's the thing, some of them are easy to catalog as "it's a matter of when not if" even tho we don't have clear evidence by old tracking from companies.

However, there are other that I find highly unlikely to happen (even tho I would LOVE them to happen) Yes, I'm looking at you, Bayonetta 3 haha

After the news that Easy Anti-cheat will now be compatible with Linux I sat and thought about the impressive developments that PC gaming has experienced after its supposed 'death' in the 00s. Just think about this: In a few months we will be playing Halo, Uncharted, Monster Hunter and Elden Ring on a Linux PC handheld. It's nothing short of crazy. It is almost unbelievable how much the platform has evolved, improved and expanded over the last few years. The indie boom, classic genres coming back with a vengeance, japanese studios supporting the platform en masse, Microsoft releasing on PC, Sony releasing on PC, Linux becoming a viable option for PC gaming... It's all just incredible.
It sounds so unbelievable yet it's actually happening. The improvements just keep on coming for PC, especially Steam.

One of the biggest takeaways from all these announcements is that SQEX is going hard into bringing their old games to modern platform. Mana, SaGa, FF Pixel Remastered, and now Actraiser... sooner or later, I think most of their old classics will be revived.

No Xenoblade 3. Noooooooooooo.
I know :( Don't worry, though, I'm sure that we'll get something in the next Direct. I think that's February or March? If the game's still on track for 2022, I'm sure we'll see it in the next Direct! It sucks that we have to wait, though.

New Steam Downloads page is a bit screwy. The download size in the queue never matches the actual download size and i don't mean due to compression etc. Dead Cells said it had a 300kb download which turned into a 25mb download when i clicked go for it.

Very odd and not very reliable.

Yeah it's sad, but on the other hand I honestly want them to take all the time they can, rather than rushing it out like Xenoblade 2. Besides, it's not like I don't have other games to play :cat-heart-blob:
