Microsoft, why?
This may be the biggest reason (as in 99%) why I won't switch to Win 11 if it is real.

I may be strange, but I use several browser windows at the same time which are themed/grouped (one window has my web novel reading, another has social media, another Youtube, etc.) which in turn have several tabs in them. That is just for leisure,

At work I have several windows for documentation, work tools, etc.

Taskbar grouping is the devil.

Looks like all achievements and icons from GTA collection have been datamined already so reveal and potential release should be happening soon.
I'm actually interested, so hopefully Steam + a good price will happen.

Apparently the guy who made StartIsBack (which I've been using ever since I had to switch to Windows 10) has fixed all of this with StartAllBack for Windows 11. It's still silly that you have to buy something else just to make your OS usable, but at least there's an option if you need to upgrade to Win11 for some reason.

Also, the pricing for previous StartIsBack customers is really fair (1.50 USD).

But wait, there's more.

I guess the UI designer just like to look at their slick creation rather than actually using it for day to day work. Hopefully they change it, or at least give us the option. Or maybe someone can find a way to get around it.

If DirectStorage really is a game changer, sooner or later we might have to "upgrade" to Win 11.

Looks like another Humble pause for me. 4 pauses in the last year now. If they don’t improve the quality I doubt I re up my annual sub when it expires and I’ve been subbed since they first launched. The 20% off is nice but GMG usually has similar deals anyway.

That would be fine if it was things like weapon overhauls (sound and feel), level design with bases that are more like old assassins creed sandbox, emergent gameplay etc... my worry is they might go completely opposite, because people want change but Ubi don't hear the core changes people want.
This is the point where Ubi in general and Far Cry in particular went out to die for me.

I'm one of those troglodytes who feel like FC fell off a cliff after the consummate Far Cry 2.

FC2 felt like the last Ubi game that put genuine trust in the player. A true open-world sandbox with tactical engagement scenarios that didn't lead one by the nose from one objective marker to the next.

I get the design pathos to eradicate friction. To signal-post objectives clearly and pull the player along through the campaign. And how marketable it is to a broader audience.

But when you introduce GPS shortcuts, both figuratively (story beat cut scene every 5 minutes) and literally (dozens upon dozens of map icons) so much is lost along the way.

The sandbox experience of player agency is totally lost along the way, giving way to a by the numbers A to B to C linear treadmill progression formula that betrays the open world promise of truly open world gameplay.

I guess Far Cry just became a different kind of game after FC2. That's fine. It's seen a lot of success.

But they certainly lost me along the way.

This is one of my issues these days, is other sites have as good as or better deals than the subscriber discount. Coupled with the fact that more and more publishers have been reducing their discount to 10% or 0%.

I took a dual Covid test last week since my daughter and I were sick and my Dad had tested positive last week (we saw him 10 days prior just within range of exposure). We all had our shots between March and May, but just to be sure and since my daughter is too young to get the shot. The rapid test was negative, but today I received a notice that the PCR test was compromised and could not be completed. :worried-face:

Everyone is feeling better now, but it would have been nice to get confirmation. I never had any of the definitive Covid symptoms my Dad has had (notably the lost of taste and smell). Sheesh, I am just hoping to get through the rest of cold and flu season without incident...

Sad thing about Ubisoft is that is so obvious that they are desperate to have a hit like Fortnite. They are so desperate that they are willing to burn through tons of projects just to get it no matter the cost. And that includes destroying IPs and franchises they own, losing long time fans, and everzthing between. As I said before Ubisoft was one of the rare companies that was setting trends years ago, they are now chasing them.

EA chased trends and got burned so they flipped the page, let's see if Ubisoft will do it or run things into the ground.

Would be good to see Ubisoft turn the page back.

Bring back the yearly smaller 15-20hr AssCreed games with varied dense period pieces.

Bring back the smaller indie titles like Grow Up/Home, Valiant Hearts etc.

Bring back Splinter Cell and make it true singleplayer game.

What they doing now is way too risky and exhausting. I'm curious how their new VR games with Oculus turn out. If those are duds they will absolutely need new company strategy.

If SteamOS 3.0 turns out to be a seamless experience and provide nearly full compatibility, I wonder if we'll see a lot of people decide not to upgrade to Windows 11 in the near future.

Ubisoft always puts out games that I look at and think maybe in the right mood, but then I never bother. I just don't find their games very appealing, and less so when they're apparently needlessly long. I'm not opposed to using Uplay, but not being on Steam just makes it all the more unappealing.

If that Twitch Vapor thing is real and takes over Epic's role as go-to for exclusivity cash, I will laugh.
In terms of competence, I'm imagining something like if Ouya or that new Intellivision project had infinite money.

tbh, I'm more worried about the fact that this has a really good chance of pushing NFTs and similar shit. :(

inb4 Vapor is just another launcher
Actually, I could see this more cloud oriented, makes more sense for Amazon/Twitch to push that technology integrating it to their already existing system, in which case would be a more interesting option than just another launcher.

Not saying this is what its going to be but what would be a more interesting option.

Historical lowest price for Steam version.
Buy it! It's really nice! It might be a bit repetitive, and doesn't have that much enemy variety, but enemies (realistically) go down in 1-2 hits (in contrast to The Division). The environments are also really well done, and production values on the enemy briefing videos are off the charts. The content of the story can be discussed, but I still thought it was a really fun game!

at long last
Does this explain why he talked to so fast on the PC version? Was he affected by something from the island in the first game that affected his speech patterns? Or maybe even something left behind from the mutant powers from Far Cry Instincts on the OG XBOX?

Microsoft has been working with tech company Qualcomm and Valve, the company behind Steam, to create Wi-Fi Dual Station. In testing (via Cambridge Network), Qualcomm claimed that the new feature offered those using it four times less lag than those playing via a single station.
According to industry analyst Anshel Sag on Twitter, "Qualcomm had to work with Microsoft and Valve to implement this feature as it requires the game server and the operating system to all sync together." Currently, it seems that AMD and Acer have partnered with Qualcomm to ship the feature, but Valve has added initial support for Dual Station to its Steamworks development kit, granting potential access to players of games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

You also may want to change your Twitch password as a precaution, as Sinoc says the file contains encrypted passwords. With anyone currently able to get their hands on the file, it would be best to err on the side of caution.
Simply hit Win+r and type regedit to bring up the registry editor. Make your way to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup and then right-click the main panel and create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value with a name of AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU and set its value to 1.

With this tweak, you should find that you now can now follow the instructions on how to install Windows 11. Assuming that you meet the other hardware requirements, at any rate.
  • Processor: 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device
  • System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable

With Amazon having Luna still, and having kinda sorta shelved their Twitch games launcher aside from free games. I am also skeptical Vapor is another traditional launcher OR that it has not already been shelved regardless of what it is.

That said, this is why I think folks who handwave concerns over exclusives, have to understand it is not just Epic folks are concerned about. It is the also the other companies circling around like Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, etc. The practice gives others a path into the industry.
