Should we reach out to them as a friendly gesture? One forum to another.
They are aware of MC :blobking:

I thought it had a different name tho? Maybe they changed it or that was a different spin-off. I'll see if i bookmarked it.
You may be thinking of Famiboards. I don’t really understand why they split further into two forums when there is a lot of overlap in members.

Also, I don’t think either went for self-moderation despite the events leading to the creation of these two boards. Preferential treatment among staff and friends was one of the things that caused the departures, evidently. Hope they fare better then.

In any case, they do not follow our strict no anime policy so it's all gonna go belly up eventually, of course.

I can understand that bugs don't get fixed before launch or that they don't get notice but in Far Cry 6 if you go back to first island before starting any mission on second island you can't fast travel back to second island, there is no boat, plane, helicopter or any other vehicle to bring you there.. You need to swim for 10 minutes and hope that sharks won't eat you before you reach second island.

Oh shit queen deleted her account dammit
Can't have nothing good on the internet anymore gotdamnit
Did something happen?
I assume it's due to bullshit from non-Meta places? Unless I missed something that happened here.
Yeah, i think it was set up pretty quickly after the implosion and exodus. I thought it had a different name tho? Maybe they changed it or that was a different spin-off. I'll see if i bookmarked it.

edit: I noticed Queen had disabled their account earlier when i looked at the screenshot thread and wondered if there was something going on. Good luck Queen and thanks for the discussions.

I finished Undertale. This time properly. And that was a hell of a ride.
I'm very glad I initially did a neutral run despite the extra time investment it necessitated to do a true pacifist run afterwards. In my first go at it, I killed Toriel because I did not quite grasp the mechanics yet, and sparing her works a little differently than everyone else. Meeting Asgore for the first time got me good because of that. It's not explicitly part of the text, but it gave the character's conversation with him and his kindness this really painful layer to it, and I had a pit in my stomach the entire time. Being able to set things right in the true pacifist route felt very good, and I was very touched by how things ended. I even walked all the way back to the ruins before the end to have a final chat with Asriel. It's such a well-written game and handles tougher subjects really deftly. And even though the finale hinges on the power of friendship trope, it's expertly executed and feels right and true. Very moving and undoubtedly one of my favorite experiences with games.

I’m looking forward to playing Deltarune now, but I think I’ll hold off until it’s completed.

Gabe already talked about this a decade ago, but hey don't listen to him and continue being shit:

"We think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem," he said. "If a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the US release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable."

And how does this make sense? Even if you think Valve is "stealing" your 30% revenue, or whatever bullshit these devs tell themselves, he would still be afraid of piracy if it ends up hurting sales of all major games on the platform.
his point is that people don't steal things if you provide good services. and the success of Steam proves him quite right. But "Steam has a fee" has nothing to do with this. I really have to wonder how social media is hurting some peoples ability to form any kind of sound argument. It's all just focused on these weird "gotcha" moments, instead of just , you know, having a normal conversation.

finished watching Mass Effect 2 LE, remembered basically nothing from when I played it all those years ago.
But who said that ME2 was the best entry in the trilogy? It is just a watered-down ME1 with barely any plot and just a checklist of companion sidequests with daddy issues.

He's right you know, Gaben unjustly gets a lot of money from workers, which is why Alex Hutchinson is a notorious communist politician.
Oh wait no, it's only that evil Valve that steals money from the poor workers, everyone would get their due if only Tim Sweeney and Elon Musk ruled over us peasants. Anytime now.

I always wonder if people throwing that propaganda realize that it's anticapitalism turned on its head in the most twisted manner?

I'll give ME2 some credit for its visual presentation. I think it really gives the Mass Effect world its own distinct style and feel, much more so than the first game, which still looked a bit rough here and there.

edited: a large part of the tf2 community are suckers

edit: clarification for the suckers part

i've made workshop items for like, 4-5 years now for the game, and i see always a trend with my items;
if it's a WACKY item with some reference they get, it instantly gets thousands of upvotes, but when it's something else that isn't wack, it doesn't even get close, and you know it does suck a lot, you make stuff you wanna make, and then it doesn't get as many upvotes as the glasses that reference vaporwave

amidst this, while the player numbers rise (even though it's more of a formality to call the bots for players), the numbers of active members of the community sinks for every week as we pass our 207th week of no big update; evident by the fact that workshop numbers generally have sunk over the past like, 4.5 years dramatically

the in-game economy of the game is unstable and easily flexible by the larger content creators, people used to care about unusual trading but that kinda died down after valve kiiiiiiindaa fucked it up with that one exploit some time ago

valve has clearly evolved from "we're putting some more effort into this game" into "this game is like my long lost cousin, who is it", as they went from doing big stuff, to almost nothing at all, to then caring bits and bits more, evident by the fact that they're now implementing things that would be a headache before (war paints with stickers, war paints that glow in the dark, they take like 5 seconds more to plug into the game and put into the game)

the biggest sucker part is the whole concept of "tf2 updates being hard because it's spagetti code", and while it could be a valid point for something like weapon balancing and applying stats, the core of an update on the bigger side (art, models, textures for models, maps) do not take 207 weeks, it takes much much less

He also doesn't seem to be happy about the Twitch leaks either, which I guess in a way fair enough but also that's its own separate money thing.

Just like how there are likely cosplayers that make way more money then animators in Japan. (There is cross overs with Cosplayers and Streamers since some of them do that as well)

It's just weird, so I guess the only thing that you can really do is make use of that situation. So if your lucky a content creator make choose your game and that would work as getting exposure for your game.

One thing I'm not a fan of and I'm not sure how often it actually happens, is when some people just go to you and "demand?" A key and say hey, I'm a streamer with Xamount of subs and if you want your game to sell you should give me a game key. There are people that do and abuse this, but after some time devs do wisen up and learn from their mistakes.

I think the "worst" thing that I have seen is this one person that was "playing" Just Dance, but the thing is it was not even the game but just a YouTube video instead of actual gameplay and them dancing to it. Sure it's just, just dance but imagine it was an indie game and some one make thousands off of playing your game without actually have even purchased your game. Maybe your lucky and some people do your game based of that person?

I guess it really is just more complicated then that.

I have never really watched streamers before, I've most likely just watch their YouTube stuff which is just highlights from their stream. I can see how it can help people because I did go through a period of my life when I didn't have anyone to really talk to and after work I would just watch video and stuff like that, but now that I talk more to people at work I don't really see a need to do that (I've moved on) but it is nice to see that watching stuff does help others.

personally, i don't think gabe needs to worry about something like Vapor, steam's already too big to be stopped

I’m not sure about the last point. With changing demographics and value and ownership perceptions due to the state of the world and software distribution/media consumption trends, I think it’s very much in the air whether Steam will be relevant in 10 years.

I have said it before, but anytime someone chooses to use the term tax as stand in for paying for a service, it makes me question...

I have just seen too often these folks are the type to think taxation is theft and that they should not have to pay for things they do not use or want to. Therefore, the framing of paying a fee for a service = tax and taxes = bad is a deliberate move.

To be clear, Valve can and should reconsider their 30% fee, but the way some folks frame this fee is incredibly suspect.

I think it is too tricky to put a timeframe on if and when direct purchases will become irrelevant. Though, I do agree that they are definitely at risk of becoming replaced by a new standard. I hope most publishers and developers would still find value in allowing direct purchases even if other alternatives like streaming and subscription services become the new standard. I assume the profit margins on an individual product are still vastly higher in a direct purchase model than any other model.

As developer André Almeida previously described it: "The use case of this syscall is to allow low level locking libraries to wait for multiple locks at the same time. This is specially useful for emulating Windows' WaitForMultipleObjects.
A futex_waitv()-based solution has been used for some time at Proton's Wine (a compatibility layer to run Windows games on Linux). Compared to a solution that uses eventfd(), futex was able to reduce CPU utilization for games, and even increase frames per second for some games. This happens because eventfd doesn't scale very well for a huge number of read, write and poll calls compared to futex. Native game engines will benefit of this as well, given that this wait pattern is common for games."
Speaking on Twitter, Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais said "It's amazing news that futex_waitv() seems to be on its way to the upstream kernel! Many thanks to the continued efforts of our partners at Collabora, CodeWeavers, and to the upstream community.".

But how ? I didn't look very hard, but are there channels with sub of the most recent Korone streams ?

And isn't the smartass in the tweet the same motherfucker who shat on streamers while working for Amazon ? Like 'streamers should be paying us or some shit'.

In a week where big publisher said that they are removing legacy titles from all digital stores "to make room for remasters" people are going after Kotaku for thanking community for preserving those same games?

There is a new mod out for the original Deus Ex:

It adds a female JC to the game with full new voice recordings for JC and with changed pronouns in text and dialog etc.
Pretty amazing work if you ask me

The mod can be found here

Btw. the cover that is used in the video above can be found here.

Any must watch ? Pikamee ?
Holo EN is a good place to start but since I'm a Pikamee shill, I'd recommend this collab, in general I think people just enjoy watching these dorks just having fun playing video games.

We have a vtuber thread so probably a good time to bring that discussion there lol

When you ask me why i play Far Cry even though i am tired of Ubisoft formula, this is basically why

Ubisoft has design issues, narrative issues, technical issues... but one thing that they had before and still have are great artists. From that perspective i enjoy visiting places that they create to take my mind from every day problems in our reality :D

Yeah... for all their faults, Ubisoft games still are good "run around and be distracted" games for me... well, maybe not Valhalla as much. I'm going to have wait a little on Far Cry 6 because it's stupidly expensive here, but I'm sure I will play at some point.

Still, when they actually try and shake things up a bit it can result in AC:Origins which I enjoyed a lot more. But first they must completely suck the current model dry....

I’m at crossroads. I like PC gaming but using a PC enables my worst habits and sometimes gives me anxiety.
Then chill down with consoles until you feel better. Or try to find out what is it with PC gaming that gives you anxiety and enables your worst habits and reflect if it can be fixed.

Usually, what you described is fixed with time.

Actually I’ve been using my Xbox more and have been sleeping better and shedding some bad habits like watching youtube videos till 2 am but it’s very easy to slip back in.

Get a switch (like me, and also buy Metroid Dread). Might not actually change anything, but I have heard that anxiety is perfect on Switch.
haha actually I got Metroid yesterday hopefully I can give it a try today.

welcome to me at the start of the year, and yeah I decided to get a Series X instead of upgrading.

(the convenience and no nonsense of the Deck are appealing though as an option down the line once my current rig does eventually fall over)

When I went home this weekend with only my laptop and only had my Switch and Xbone I realized how much I missed my gaming desktop. Especially due to the lack of cheats, mods and a lot of games I regularly play that are not on consoles.

Got cravings for Satisfactory and Omori, both not on consoles.

Consoles definetly have their pros, ease fo use and convenience, cheaper, but lacks in so many other departments I can't handle the much. Especially the games department, I realize over the weekend, once again, that the consoles games libraries are terrible compared to PC.

Yeah when I use my Xbox there’s no alt tabbing to see other stuff or just fiddling around, I’m either playing or not.

I love alt-tabbing, it's a blessing when I get stuck and need guidance on the web. I always have to prepare my phone or walk over to my PC when I get stuck on consoles, which both are tiresome. Like scrolling through a YT video on my phone to find where Im stuck feels really annoying.

I understand your situation though, but I actually feel better when I know Im to button presses away from doing work or other things.
