The slow mouse direction is a modern system bug iirc, I think it can be aleviated by turning off enhanced pointer precision or whatever, not that it ever becomes fully convenient but definitely more than enough to enjoy Gothic 2 like I did some years ago. Edit: I found this plausible solution if that doesn't work also:
GOTHIC.INI file in the "Gothic 2 Gold/system" directory. Way down in the file there is a section with the heading [ENGINE]

Look for the line

zMouseRotationScale=2.0

I changed my value to

zMouseRotationScale=8.0

and the mouse is totally useable in game now.

Hope that helps!
The line reads about right since it wasn't really mouselook or cursor related but the character's rotation/turning while moving. Gothic 2 is worth it, try again.

I thought Molyneux left gaming after whatever 22Cans did a few years back? Couldn't resist the bullshit that is blockchain to try and sell gamers another bill of goods?
He's still out of gaming. This blockchain is objectively as far as you can get from gaming. If we include blockchain games in 'gaming' then we have to include electronic pachinko, slot machines, and karaoke.

sorry to interrupt in this thread but never happened to my in the past, bought something from amazon, ups takes the delivery and the last status is.

Severe weather conditions have delayed delivery.
In Berkeley MO.

is this normal? something bad happend to my package? or it is real that the weather is bad?

Im from Chile so not sure how ups handle those situations.

Thanks.

HIi! I live 40 miles away from St.Louis, Missouri. The Missouri amazon warehouse should be fine. It's the amazon warehouse in southern central Illinois that basically fucked. One of the wall collapsed and killed six people. So yeah that warehouse is kinda fucked for a bit, But the one in Missouri is just fine, Kentucky is also the one that got fucked up as well
Also yes there was an emergency weather bullshit happen in Missouri but the warehouse in Berkeley Missouri should be fine. The package will take a bit more then ususal to get to chile

Inching closer to the 1000 game mark on Steam. I've been avoiding digital clutter (still not sure if this is real or in my head?) and so stopped redeeming most extras from bundles a long time ago in favor of trading these for games I am more likely to play, but now I'm getting to this milestone regardless.

I've been considering my relationship with games, completionist tendency and especially time vs monetary value vs non-monetary value of the games I play, but I've not come to some sort of clear idea about it yet as it relates to what I choose to spend my time on. Even though I recognize it's pointless, I feel a little bad when I drop a game that doesn't seem to stimulate me in any way because I wasted money on it. That's a small price to pay for the time I gain not playing it that I can spend differently, but the feeling lingers despite my knowing better.

I still clearly remember the period when there were a limited number of choices of games available on Steam (and elsewhere) to the degree that I could feel like I've played pretty much what I wanted to and I was mostly waiting on "the next big game", but nowadays there's so much out there and as my tastes have diversified, picking a game has increasingly become a matter of gauging my mood in addition to everything all these other factors -- which I'm not great at.

There's not really a conclusion or question I have in mind to wrap up this train of thought, but these things have been tumbling around in my head as I watch the game counter tick up with slight unease, and I felt it could help to write them down and externalize them a bit. Many of you here are well over that 1000 game threshold already and have come to terms with similar thoughts in different ways, I'm sure.

Funny isn't it. Sony have been publishing games on the PC for, what, 2 years now. We get PC specific previews from them, technical specs well in advance of release, showcases of PC specific features.

The same could be said for MS' return to full fledged PC gaming.

S-E on the other hand have been releasing games on the PC for how long now? We still don't know the technical specs for FFVIIR, any PC Specific features (hahahahahahahaha, yeah, S-E we are talking about here) or previews of PC footage. The game releases in 3 days time.

I have also thought about this occasionally.
Back in the day, when there wasn't as many games on Steam, each sale felt like an opportunity to buy some of the "classic-can't-miss" games for a cheap prize.
But as the years went by, I both had bought a lot of these "classic-can't-miss" games, played some of them and placed the rest in the backlog, and the amount of new, potentially interesting releases had increased exponentially.

So, about 11 years on from when I started buying games on Steam, I have a large pile of "classic-can't-miss" games that still are unplayed, new interesting games are released all the time, and my gaming time has become really limited due to changes in my personal life and different prioritizations.

Instead of seeing each sale as an opportunity to pick up 2-5 games and place them in the backl0g, I try to occasionally buy 1 game (sale or no) and actually try to spend some time with it immediately. Granted, this doesn't always work (old habits die hard), but personally, this feels better for me.

Settling with the belief that we can't play all the interesting games in the world is pretty important. Meanwhile, a huge library does give me anxiety so now I try to avoid bundle as much as possible and only buy and play whatever looks and sounds interesting. I would buy one or two games occasionally, sometimes in full price, and will never buy a bulk of games at the same time again.

Like FunnyJay said, I also remember that time. It's long gone. Videogame industry (or form of entertainment in general) is expanding like crazy lately. Now everyone goes after our money, time and attention thus creating this phenomenon of "backlog". 24 hours are never enough and people can get exhausted simply by the wealth of entertainment. Honestly this would sound like a joke if you told this to people who were living before 00s, but it is exactly what we are experiencing now. It is a blessing and a curse at the same time if we don't know how to deal with it. I would say the only way is to learn letting go and choosing what are really worthy of our time.

Can we please return to the times where games didn't take 100+ GB on the hard drive? I mean, we jumped from about 30 GB to 100+ GB without any "real" reason (yes I know, there probably are "real" reasons). And seeing developers/publishers mention new games being 150+ GB feels like threats.

That's been my approach in recent years as well. Otherwise it all becomes an untenable collection of maybes and mights, which has proven to be a source of agitation itself.

Yeah, it's easy to get wrapped up in the more cynical trends in the industry and feel like we're backsliding in some ways, but all in all there is so much choice that it's easy to find games outside of the AAA space, where it often feels like the development goal isn't so much to deliver a satisfying and rounded experience but either monopolize your attention or go for this somewhat hollow people-pleasing type of game.

Forspoken looks and sounds rough, empty and totally not funny but with interesting combat mechanics. I may pick it up down the road for Just Cause-like mindless openworld exploration, but this isn't something I would spend $70 to play.

Not necessarily AAA but it is just what the internet do to us: so many information, so many choices... AAA is not inherently bad either. I would say 50-50. There are big developers who genuinely want to make great games with the huge budget while there are those predatory.

Looks alright. Performance looked a bit rough at times, magic seems cool. The transparency effects while she was running looked awful.
But yeah, considering this is an 80€ japanese Square Enix title which means it will almost definitely never be much cheaper than 40€ even on sale it doesn't really matter, since I don't see myself ever picking this up at that price point tbh.

I kinda want to play through Halo Infinite, but the really bad performance on my PC is making me have trouble playing it, the stutter is bad enough to give me eye strain. But that's the big thing that recently came out and keeps vying for my attention, so I can't be asked to play anything else. Egh.

I wouldn't be against playing Ruined King right now, you know, the Battle Chasers reskin. But 30 euros for it is a little rich for my blood. And the customer reviews talk about bugs.

Unfortunate, because it would have gone nicely with me trying out Legend of Runeterra these days. Not a fan. Or well, it's complicated.
The graphical style is nice but too Warcrafty for my liking. They tried inserting some animations and dialog to spice up the card battles, but it's more grating noise than entertaining. And the system had potential, but it is certainly convoluted and I'm still not grasping it 100%
The game seems fairly generous with unlocks.
My big downside is how, maybe because I'm bad, it feels frequently so unfair and unbalanced. People moan about the RNG of Magic, but man if in this I don't have the feeling that the AI has an answer for everything I throw at it. It pass raging status and become plain tiresome. I mean, there is only so many times in a battle when I can live with the feeling of playing against the 'cat who throws everything off a shelf' gif.

Oh, and I was bemoaning the time people take to play in Magic, but today I had the pleasure of playing a good 30 minutes battles in this. Astounding.

Finished Halo Infinite. I actually had fun with it. It’s obviously two games glued together. The closed level (and often boring) campaign missions and the open world that while sure needed more … “personality” instead of the same bog-standard checklist tasks, it’s elevated by the good gameplay.

Story is messy (and part of it on purpose to hide the plot holes) but it gets the job done by doing a “soft reset”. What it doesn’t do is offer a good conclusion to the mess that was the previous game, but I don't know if that was possible.

In the end the last three Halo games make Mass Effect look like a well planned trilogy.

About the stutters… yeah, it can get bad. I’m not very sensitive to it, and after removing the “HD textures” and lowering some settings I was able to get a not very smooth but playable (for me) 60-80 fps on the open world, even on my old 4C/8T CPU. But the difference with the closed missions where it all runs beautifully is huge.

--
But more importantly… this was my 52th “new” (no replays/remasters) game finished this year.
Amazing how many games you can play if you keep the blackholes of time that are Dota 2 and Destiny 2 away from your PC :p

wait, I just realised that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a story sequel to Persona 4 Arena?

How the hell does that help then given that P4A isn't available anywhere bar the 360/ps3 (neither of which are BC in fact) where it first came out?

EDIT; wait nvm I'm an idiot

1,632 games on steam, 300 on GOG and lord knows how many on itch due to the two mega-bundles in recent years but at least 800 and that doesn't include the various DRM free games i have from the dev's site, various Total Conversions and Big Mods and the ~90 Visual Novels i have not on Steam.

I think i have 5 games between EA & Ubisoft launchers.

It's why i can't usually participate in GOTY discussions because i rarely play games released during the year.
I've really cut down on my purchases in the last few years as well. I have my range of comfy forever games and a big library of games to fire up when the mood takes me. It's great.

Aah nice, I've been wanting to play this for a while, was that open world GTA like game if I remember right (American McGee?).
Do you mean Bad Day LA?

Or, better yet, drop the price on storage over 1TB so that these requirements are easier to handle. I wouldn't care so much about 160GB if 4TB of SSD storage wasn't $$500-600 CAD, but with only a 1tb for games...

2850 on Steam according to the profile page, 3033 according to the library page... Steam, are you drunk? Not quite sure why there is that difference, what its not countin on the profile page.
GOG says 284. And I havent checked the other stores for a while (meaning UPlay and Origin). Not a lot there, though.

Mods, demos, addons, etc that show up as their own entry in the library may not count as games in the profile listing, especially if they arent downloaded through the store.

Definitely not Bad Day LA, I have never wanted to play that haha.
It's this, I remember you get into flying cars in an open world city and can go inside buildings in 3rd person and do missions for people. Of course I am simplifying some aspects, and also it does things different enough to set itself apart.

I have 4082 on Steam, and 200 on gog I think?
I thought I had a lot of steam games (I have 1198), but it's nothing compared to others here.
