So this week has been a dumpster fire for gaming

just an absolute dumpster fire

People in the twitter replies really wanting that PS2/Xbox/Gamecube creativity to be back

Not sure that's how it works

but non consecutve Call of Duty releases would actually be a blessing tbqh

That alone would make more interested in call of duty more then anything

Series with yearly entries should, in my opinion, just be a thing of the past. It sucks out all the excitement, innovation and ultimately quality. 3 years is a good gap between two entries in a series. And yeah, that counts for sports games too...maybe especially.
And then of course, an oversaturated series like COD...maybe should be gone for longer than that :)

Its too much of a yearly moneymaker to ditch imo.

November driving millions of new gamepass subs every year is probably the biggest reason to buy them for ms. That is their quickest path to getting 50+ million subscribers

I can see them getting a year off too reduce stress and transition ownership but then MS will work them. Also if future versions of COD aren't gonna be made for PS4/PS5 then that will free up resources and doing yearly should be even more manageable. I guess Warzone and BattleRoyale stuff will factor into everything too. Hopefully they don't stop making singelplayer campaigns.

Man, all the merger news has really pulled my attention over the past couple days. Pretty entertaining all around.

But thankfully, I got back to the LogicBots demo before the weekly discount ended and it's looking quite promising so far.

But then again, 10-year old Aaron was absolutely nuts for Big Trak back in '79, lol.

Personally I hate the knife. My go-to for victory is the book, and the whip. I think every "complete" I've gotten was off the backs of those two.
I really like the knife especially when maxed out and adding a bunch of projectile speed. I can always clear a path and never get cornered. The book is my second favorite item and I am starting to like garlic, but I cannot depend on the garlic as a main damage dealer. I really have not liked the whip since I have to position myself so specifically and I find myself getting cornered.

Well, FataMoru has been in the top 10 VNDB for a long time, and for a good reason. It's very much a slow burn though, but the payoff is very much worth it. :flare_smirk:
VNDB huh?

Hmmm...

LoL, maybe 1-2 characters

AND Protagonist > Sex: Female

Okay that's a little better, but marginally.

With Warzone, there's no need for a yearly CoD game, or no more CoD games at all. Just make a reskinned new season every year and people will be happy.
Edit: Looks like some reddit users go overboard. Let's see how this goes.
One thing I've learned in life is to never piss off people on Reddit, it can backfire in very scary ways.

You only really need to position whip at the first level or so, and even then only if you don't have extra projectiles from something. After that it just becomes a nice half circle clear space on either side and above you.

I don't really like projectile speed because it doesn't actually boost dps except for a few of the weapons, unless I'm misunderstanding it. So I only ever grab it if I have those weapons already (the piercing light and books being the main ones)

I kind of think that COD would probably stop being yearly since the only way that's even possible is because activision blizzard forced all their other studios into working on the games as well

They had Toys 4 Bob working on COD, nothing says Call of Duty like skylanders & spyro

Yeah I can't see Microsoft NOT letting studios to work on a variety of IPs. Their goal is to have as much variety as possible on Game Pass. Of course they will put as much strength behind CoD as possible, the first CoD that comes out from Microsoft has to be good for them to prove themselves to the CoD players.

Yeah, studios like Toys for Bob and Ravensoft are wasting their talent on being a sub studio for CoD.

It would be nice to think, if this goes ahead, they let Toys for Bob go back to Crash, or let them play with something like Conker or Banjo Kazooie. Plus I quite liked Ravensofts take on Wolfenstein in particular playing up the more occult side we could do with some Wierd War 2 games.

Dynasty Studios originates from Logic Artists, a Denmark-based gaming studio founded in 2011. It has made games such as the Expeditions series of titles, and it is finishing up work on Expeditions: Rome, which will be published by THQ Nordic. After that, Logic Artists will wind down and its staff will join Dynasty Studios. He said Dynasty’s first title will be the upcoming massively multiplayer survival triple-A-quality game, codenamed HAN. Our goal with Dynasty is to combine this to make games for gamers powered by blockchain.”
oh no 😕
i guess Expeditions Rome is their swan song .... and Divinity: Fallen Heroes is gonna stay on hold forever

This is currently the #1 global top selling game on Steam right now:

Pretty impressive for a $1 game considering the list is ordered by revenue instead of copies sold.
I remember they had a failed kickstarter where the amount of money requested was waaay to much , weird to see it as a 1$ game

edit: doesn't seem to be the same game, maybe they changed the scope

Still waiting for anyone to articulate what the hell blockchain/NFT can add to games that isn't just an outlet for speculation and pyramid schemes.
Don't remember where I read it, but someone wrote something like "if your biggest selling point for a game is the transaction technology, then the game itself is bad" and I have to agree.
I mean, this feels like the equivalent of saying "we are developing a game with MongoDB instead of <insert other database here>, be excited!" and like, why should I care, this doesn't mean anything?

Some people hear Blockchain and think maybe I should invest money in that project so when they release it and make bank I win something. But even then ... I don't know what it adds to games but I guess it will continue until we get a new buzzword.

Somewhere else
I'm blind or something? Shouldn't there be an adventure event on Steam ? I do not see it on the store start page.

Don't think I'll touch Hitman 3 until they allow proper offline play. I doubt they will be interested to keep those servers running forever. Never been very interested in those limited missions anyway.

I think it would've turned out a lot better with something as simple as a store presence a couple of weeks in advance to allow for wishlisting and momentum to build in the recommendation engine. Even something like like a 20-25% discount, which would still be much higher than on EGS, would've been a plus.

A store page that isn't a mess too, but I'm afraid there's no hope for IOI there lmao. Each level gets a store page even though it isn't even an episodic game???? Really innovative stuff.

“I was looking at the IP list, I mean, let’s go!” Spencer said. “ ‘King’s Quest,’ ‘Guitar Hero,’ … I should know this but I think they got ‘HeXen.’ ”
“We’re hoping that we’ll be able to work with them when the deal closes to make sure we have resources to work on franchises that I love from my childhood, and that the teams really want to get,” Spencer said. “I’m looking forward to these conversations. I really think it’s about adding resources and increasing capability.”
