I need some recommendations for a TV.

I'm looking for an OLED TV.

Price range of $1-1.5k

"Smart TV" stuff doesn't really matter since I'm going to try to get an Nvidia Shield TV Pro and just use that.

I was looking for something that is 43inch or so, so hopefully something smaller than 50inch.

I was not sure about 4K but I'm guessing that all the OLED are 4K pretty much?


Also I was not sure if I should do LG and OLED or Samsung and QLED.


This will mainly be used for just watching TV stuff and some occasional movies, not really for games or anything.

Ghost of Tsushima would be nice but now August seems too soon after Uncharted. I guess that we will probably get just one more Sony game after Uncharted this year. They really are taking time whit them.

I start to consider a complete media blackout on Starfield after watching this developer diary. Everything they said and showed so far is awesome and I want to be surprised by how they achieve all these stuff in-game. This game is going to be either a huge trainwreck or the best space game ever.

So according those internal dates Uncharted is scheduled for July. That probably mean no new Sony game until then. I wonder when we will get announcement of next one and which one it will be. They really are taking time whit them.
If anything I think that Uncharted in July makes room for another smaller game in between like Sackboy that might come between April and May, also July for Uncharted would pretty much confirms that at least exclusivity on console will be 6 months which is the time frame between PS5 release and potential PC release for Uncharted, so yeah, interesting for sure.

Also, let's not forget last year they announced 2 games in two consecutive months (Uncharted in September, GOW in October) so you never know about this stuff until it happens, they are still quite weird with timing.

for me luckly, it was just one day of being tired with headache and dry throat before it got better over the days, but i still have the dry cough so i'll get some cough syrup and drown that out
also, got done with smt sjr, honestly pretty alright game if you ignore the final boss fight which makes you grind a lot, which i did

started on smt4, and the start is pretty challenging actually, but also COME THE FUCK ON ATLUS, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SMTV PC PORT????

Paradox Announces PC Milestone Before Console Release

STOCKHOLM - 16 March 2022 - A year and a half after its release in September 2020, Paradox Interactive’s medieval grand strategy game Crusader Kings III has sold two million units, making it one of the fastest Paradox titles to hit that landmark number.

Last month’s release of Royal Court, the first major expansion for Crusader Kings III, was also a cause for celebration, as that add-on has already topped one million sales.
I'm no expert on sales and platforms split but since the game is only available on PC (Steam and Windows Store) it's really a huge number of sales for a Grand Strategy game. And on top of that, it has a 50% playerbase retention for the first major expansion.

It is, yes, it's an absolute success.

I think I am going to put nearly all of my triple A games on a year delay.

Between the ongoing issue getting hold of new GPU's at a decent price, or even at RRP, the state that some PC AAA games are getting released in. While I do have a basic gaming laptop with a 3060 in it that was intended as bed and TV gaming until I can get a Deck.

So instead I am going to stick to indie gaming, some of the upcoming JRPG's and Starfield (because I still love Bethesda's open world games). Everything else can wait till I can get it for a decent price. If they don't want to give me a decent port they can wait for my money. Seems only fair.

If there's any sort of exclusivity deal going on, May, August or November (6, 9, 12 months) are possibilities, though August is unlikely since Soul Hackers 2 is releasing then.

at least i still have the smtv apk i downloaded from nvidia database when that was leaking out, which then includes
- that banner image, alongside an image named "ic_launcher" which then is just a black image
- a xml file called "searchable", which can't be opened with a browser, but when opening with notepad, has "searchable test game " written in it alongside some android schemas things
- a mf file called "Manifest", which then has a list of all of the files in this thing alongside SHA-1 digests, i dunno cryptography so
- a RSA file called nv_unive, which then contains a lot of asian characters in it when opening with notepad
- a SF file called nv_unive, which contains the same things as manifest but also some "SHA1-Digest-Manifest-Main-Attributes" thing
- a xml document called androidmanifest, which contains some funky stuff that is readable that i dont understand
- an arsc file called resources, which contains also some funky stuff that is readable that also contains stuff i dont understand

Sadly what ezodagrom said and on top of that we still have some other PC ports that leaked (or we suspect are coming too) that are yet to be announced.

Deadly Premonition 2? Either canned or delayed due publisher purchase by Thunderful group.
NMH3? I could see it announced in the next Xseed line-up.
SMT V? completely unknown when, sadly we don't have an estimation which makes things even more difficult.
Square Exclusives? Switch ones we do suspect will follow the usual path of 8-12 months and the EGS ones we don't know but should know in the next 30 days (yes, I'm going to give them all April too)

So yeah, it sucks to not know when things will happen :(

I guess at least SMTV is in the geforce now leak, so the likelyhood of it happening eventually is high, even if we dont know when.
There are SEGA games I wish would be brought to PC that are just not happening (Hatsune Miku Project Diva games in particular).
i honestly want smtv on pc so i can get started REALLY modding it

right now i'm just gonna investigate this apk file, but i dunno if it actually has something except for those message digests in sha-1

Ah, SEGA ports. Remember when they mentioned, yet another time, that they had ambitious plans for their back catalogue on PC, and would significantly improve the number of ports they would release on the platform? I do.
In 2020, that didn't happen, and people quickly jumped to "defend them", yet again, because clearly the pandemic impacted their plans.
2021? Pandemic again. I mean, other studios experienced delays, but still managed to release plenty of titles, but SEGA obviously couldn't.

It's 2022. Are we still blaming the pandemic? Or, are we finally realizing that, obviously, SEGA is full of shit?

The Judgment series was released everywhere, even Stadia and Amazon Luna, except... PC. Yeah, I know, they always have an excuse, and in this case it's the never confirmed issues with the management of the actor that gives the likeness and voice to the main character.
That's surely why titles like Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise were never ported to PC. Or Valkyria Revolution. Or Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. And many others.
Or why they release a continuous flux of catalogue titles (arcade titles, SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis titles, ...) on plenty of platforms, from mobile, consoles, and whatnot, frequently with great emulation and additional QOL features by M2, while most of these titles remain unavailable on PC, or are released with extremely shoddy emulation (like the current Mega Drive / Genesis titles available on Steam). It's been a decade since they last released any Mega Drive / Genesis titles on Steam.

I'm being too hard. I mean, they did release that wonderful, "broken" port of Sonic Colors: Ultimate, exclusively on EGS, because why not?

I feel like SEGA is just sitting on a few finished projects and want to release them one-by-one. I sincerely believe that SMT5 and Persona 5 are basically locked and will come to steam eventually.

I am in the show don't tell camp, too, but this episode does confirm companions, named factions and starting stats and traits. So it's not all just marketing talk. Assuming the game is releasing in Nov, this media blackout shouldn't be too painful to endure haha.

That's been BGS's way since Oblivion.

They generally show gameplay 3-5 months prior to release, so I expect some Starfield footage around E3 or so.

Maybe they're ahead of the curve considering todays toxic online climate. For example the Dead Space remake devs have been getting harassed online since they showed alpha footage of the game because it "didn't look good enough".

As you probably already know SMTIV's difficulty curve is backwards, the begining is the hardest part. Fantastic game. The alignment system is pretty damn weird though, you'll want to check out a guide if you intend to get a specific ending. Neutral is the best route.
Personally I'd skip Apocalypse. God, I hate that game.
And yeah, SMTV is so damn good, I can't wait for the PC version. Aside from all the usual stuff that makes SMT awesome, it's one of the most fun games to explore that I've ever played. The level design is brilliant.

Congrats on beating SJ Redux. I'll be honest, I couldn't get myself to grind for that final boss. I've played almost every game under the SMT umbrella including the original SJ and that was the only time I didn't finish a game.

oh i had no idea about the difficulty curve, i only knew that the first boss is comparable to smt3's matador, and that it's impossible if you do it with walter or something, but i do know about the neutral stuff so i am following a guide on that; apocalypse i'd probably play because of the yhvh fight, i've heard it's pretty hard so at least something to do

smtv is pretty alright, but i felt as though it was rushed and not finished, it was pretty comparable to mgsv to me honestly
i didn't understand entirely why some characters decided to do the actions they did, and i wish there were generally more backstory or stuff about why some characters became into this and that, like for example:
(SMTV SPOILERS -->) i don't understand why Tao became Tao, all i know is that she was talking about some voice in her head and that she was "the saint of bethel", i honestly wish there was more things ellaborating what she was all about. not only that, but Dazai's transformation into a law obsessed dude was fucking hilarious, how he just turned from a goofy mf to "i will kill everyone you know" guy. Yuzuru was also pretty ehh, i didn't really get his motivation for becoming a chaos rep

other than the characters and plot, i also felt as though it really deserved some harder boss fights and segments, like for that one ending, you have to defeat this one dude before moving on with the game, but the problem is that "this one dude" is shiva, who is arguably the hardest boss in the game (not counting demi-fiend), and he's kinda overleveled and stronger than any other boss in the game, so by doing him first, it kinda defeats the point

i liked way more how smt3 chose to do their reason boss fights, how it felt like an actual struggle between two sides, instead of what we got in smtv

what i really want to fix first of all is the smtv bossfight ai, so we get bossfights that were as good as the smt3 ones

I think the game gave just enough character development, I don't need a ton of exposition in SMT games, it was such a step up from the embarrassing C-tier anime trash in Apocalypse that I'm not going to complain. I had a blast with the game, can't really think of anything major to complain about aside from the atrocious frame-rate in some areas but that's the hardware's fault. The PC version can't come soon enough.

As a pretty openly weeb, I nevertheless have to agree wholeheartedly. Apocalypse was a trash fire. And a pretty long one at that, for the ridiculously small amount of new content. It's basically SMTIV with super flat anime characters.

well, then i'd maybe skip over apocalypse after 4, but that's when i finish 4 which is gonna take some time i'm guessing

now, i found something and i dunno if it's big or not, it could mean jack chaos crap, or it could mean great stuff



the searchable xml for smtv's apk, i dunno what it does, but if i were to guess, probably has information on the conditions for searching for it in a search bar or something, i dunno
what i do know is that this xml file, for some reason, has the words "test game" in it, which i find very peculiar

Sorry, but I really don't feel any need to give "credit" to a company like SEGA for releasing some (far from all) of their games on PC day and date with consoles.
It's 2022. If a 2 person indie company can do it, if AA studios and publishers can do it, are we seriously giving "props" to SEGA, a company that has far more resources and staff than most companies around, for doing something that is current practice and common sense for pretty much everyone?

Especially after years and years of giving the same old speech about PC ports, with barely any results to show.
Or releasing sequels or spin-offs of certain games on consoles (skipping PC), after a PC re-release of another entry was highly successful.

And don't get me started on their "retro" titles like Mega Drive/Genesis games/Roms on Steam.
Again, it's been 10 years since they last released any titles, and the emulator provided is beyond poor.
Meanwhile, countless new games see release on the Switch and Nintendo's online services, and they even get M2 to handle some of their re-releases and compilations, while PC gets... nothing.

But, I guess PC users don't care about retro games and emulation, so it makes sense for SEGA to place their efforts exclusively on consoles, right?
Surely, if there was any money to be made on PC with these retro titles, they would release at least a handful of Roms (which takes them barely any work to do so) every now and then, right?

I could post plenty of examples like the one above, but in several occasions, SEGA boasted about the sales of their Mega Drive/Genesis Roms on Steam, and promised further support and titles.
The result: nothing happened. The news post I quoted above is from 2016. They had 350.000 Rom sales of their titles in about 2 weeks.

Continuing with retro games, they even took titles like After Burner Climax, an extremely fun game that they released on arcades and consoles, and instead of porting it to PC, back in 2019 they re-released it on... mobile.


Earlier today, I saw several users "complaining" about the lack of effort from Square Enix on their PC ports, saying they are treated as a clear afterthought, and that feedback is fully deserved.
With SEGA, I don't understand why they seem to get a pass on most things they do. They release one 10-15 old title, and suddenly everyone acts like they are a company whose PC support (for Japanese titles) is extraordinary. I really don't get it.

There is room for debate when you say 'everyone acts like' they are a good PC company. While I may, maybe inappropriately, applaud them when they make a good move, my overall feeling for Sega remains contempt.
This is a shadow of a once great company that sometimes do good moves. Nothing more, unfortunately.

Come to think of it a bit, yeah, they may be the company who make the most mysterious porting decisions among everyone else in the industry, even Square is more reliable.

What Mega Drive games people miss? First party that is, since third party games is up to whoever owns those, similar to Square/Konami releasing the SNEStuff.

It's other platform retro games that we need more than Mega Drive, but I wouldn't say they're much worse than others on that front. Saturn stuff already please...

Played a bit of Bravely Default 2, uninstalled really fast.

For one, the game looks outright repulsive, it might be the ugliest JRPG I've ever played.
The models are awful, their animations a complete joke, the world genuinely looks like early PS2 with higher rez, the 2D cities are pixelated and muddy... but it's the presentation of the story that is just abysmal, it's just rushed, horrendously ugly "cut scenes" where your characters don't even have emotes, let alone expressions... for having replayed Final Fantasy 2 recently? That was a more compelling early game. And there wasn't much to the game!

But really, they fixed none of the issues of the other games, so level design is utter garbage and may as well be randomly generated rooms linked by corridors (and no doubt it rehashes the same environments again and gain like the others) with invisible walls here and there.
Octopath did it better (which could be used as definition of BD2), with actual 3D environments, far better secrets... and it was still a 4/10 level design at the best of times.

What really breaks the game though is the combat. It's Bravely Default, so you can "Default" to get an extra action in your next turns, or "Brave" to get those actions immediately but you'll lose as many future turns without being able to act (and Octopath did it better, I'll come back to it).
And I still stand by my first thought since the demo of BD1: this system is utter shit and completely worthless.
For one, normal encounters are balanced around (and actively reward you for with extras)... killing everything in one turn. So there's no strategy involved, just burst them down by fiddling around in menus to use the same correct attacks every time (or click repeat last action, riveting gameplay I assure you).
Bosses on the other hand, they take a little while to kill, so you can't do that, and they exploit the brave/default like you do... but what it means is that you don't want to attack when they default as they block damage doing it... and are obviously preparing a big attack that you want to... block yourself. By using default.
And hope that 4 attacks won't land on your squishiest character, because it's the old RNG formula like in SMT or Dragon Quest, get unlucky, you die.
But once the enemy burst went through, time for you to go ham (and heal yourself, buff/debuff, all that jazz).

So it's... like 1980s gameplay, Dragon Quest and SMT still use the same archaic systems (where they are also TERRIBLE by the way)... but they actually offer more as games than just block/burst mechanics. And of course they are more balanced: yes you can use 4 turns on all your chars in Bravely Default. 1 turn lets you buff 1 char by +20% defense. 1 turn of Dragon Quest or any other? +25% defense on all your chars. What's the fucking point of having many turns if you only ever spam the same strong combo like +buff and then 3 attacks every time? Or just 4x attack 95% of the time anyway. And you're limited in how far you can go buff! It caps at +65% because reasons!
I remember using only Samurai and Ninja in BD1, because.. why would I bother with anything else? It was the most damage, and let me forcefully take aggro on the Samurai, block and automatically counter any damage type. Get your 2 class combo going (yeah don't hope to mix more, dozens of classes will go to waste... oh, Octopath did it better too? How surprising), you're done.

The gameplay just DOES. NOT. WORK.
Remember Octopath Traveler? Game's a cousin pretty much. Which looks better.

Except in Octopath... you actually have a reason to attack multiple times. Because it breaks the enemy shield and stuns them, so you want the right timing to stop their attack, making them lose the big turn they've charged up, and then do extra damage.
Same mechanics.
But they work because they have a reason to exist! In BD, you just have extra turns for absolutely no reason, and spend so much time blocking instead of interacting with your enemies... completely artificial and half baked by definition, since they did cook it fully in a game released by the same publisher and part of the same dev team.

Anyway, game blows in every aspect that isn't the soundtrack (and on that point, it exceeds any expectations - it is amazing), it's not engaging in the least, and for having played the others, I won't bother seeing if they improved any of their awful design decisions.
Because Octopath Traveler already did, so I may as well play that one. It doesn't look like gutter juice either.

Bravely Default is Kemco level of bad, and those somehow innovate more.

Especially after years and years of giving the same old speech about PC ports, with barely any results to show.
Since they said that they would "aggressively focus" on more PC ports in August 2020, which SEGA games have skipped PC?
Shin Megami Tensei V (which is likely happening eventually since it was in the geforce leak), Judgment, Lost Judgment, Virtua Fighter 5 and 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim from what I recall, was there more than these?

What have they released since that promise?
Yakuza Like a Dragon, Yakuza 3, 4, 5, 6, Persona 5 Strikers, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, Shin Megami Tensei III, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Sonic Colors Ultimate (despite the idiotic EGS exclusivity), the mediocre Olympics game, they published Demon Slayers Hinokami Chronicles and also announced for this year there's Soul Hackers 2, Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers so far.

Is there room for improvement? Yes, alot, especially with some dumb decisions like releasing the Persona 5 spin-off/sequel without releasing Persona 5, but, saying that they barely have any results to show is not correct.

This is why I still post in defense of SEGA, occasionally there's posts like yours talking about SEGA's promise of more PC ports as if they haven't been releasing anything on PC. I'm not going to say that they don't have alot of room for improvement, they do, but I'm also not gonna stay quiet with the "barely any results" type of posts.

Earlier today, I saw several users "complaining" about the lack of effort from Square Enix on their PC ports, saying they are treated as a clear afterthought, and that feedback is fully deserved.
I don't know what complaints you're talking about specifically, but I'm guessing when people talk about lack of effort from Square Enix on PC ports, they're talking about the quality of the ports themselves and not the lack of them.

So according those internal dates Uncharted is scheduled for July. That probably mean no new Sony game until then. I wonder when we will get announcement of next one and which one it will be. Ghost of Tsushima would be nice but now August seems too soon after Uncharted. I guess that we will probably get just one more Sony game after Uncharted this year. They really are taking time whit them.
Ghost of Tsushima could be December this year. It would leave enough time for Uncharted to sell.

current progress of the apks:

i have managed to download all of the geforce apks i got from the databases onto my phones as apps, and after logging into geforce now, it lead me to a grey screen that didn't change

after uninstalling geforce now, it changed to lead me instead to the google store, where it wanted me to download nvidia games, but the problem is that nvidia games isn't compatible for my phone, so i can't do much there

Yeah, I don't think they're sitting on finished projects either. Porting a game from consoles to PC may not require a big team, but it's still a lengthy process that can take more than 1 year.
I think one of the biggest issues SEGA could be having with bringing games from consoles to PC may be their reliance on outsourcing, though in recent years it feels like they've been shifting to handle them internally?
