Thought about getting Stranger of Paradise on PS5 or Jack Sparrow it, but Im far from finished with ER and I have no intention to rush it, so that game gonna have to wait.

On Xbox? This just keeps getting more confusing. I bought a Steam key from someone on Era once, and it didn't work. When I told him, he confirmed it worked for him. And I was like, so you activated it on your own account then? And he didn't reply but just refunded me lol. Anyway, glad your situation worked out.
Yeah, he seemed mad at himself for activatng it accidentaly lol.

Elden Ring has sold 12 million units.
Absolutely deserved, I haven't played any other game besides ER for the last 2 weeks. It's so rare to see a highly anticipated video game exceeding expectations, being a truly uncompromised experience, no microtransactions, and no exclusivity deals. Besides the technical issues From soft truly knocked it out of the park with ER.

Also 44% of those sales were on Steam (allegedly), so 5.28M copies were just for the Steam version. PC gaming is dead guys lmao.

So some crazy math here.


If we look at sales. Japan had over 1 million units sold. Looking at Famitsu Numbers, the PS4 version sold 250k (I think it says that it's an estimate for both digital and physical?) So let's just say that the PS4 version sold 500k


(This is me being very generous since the digital vs physical split is no where near 50/50 for Japan) and 200k for PS5 (100k being digital and the other 100k being physical)


So that leaves over 300k that is the PC version sold in Japan!!!!!!!!

The JPN PC version sold for ~$90USD and after valves fee that's still more than $60USD a piece that From got from sales (they self published the PC version there), I for get what the 75% price point is again but let's just say that they are at least getting $60. From has made over $18 million USD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the PC version just from Japanese sales alone (I'm guessing making over $18 million is why it was at #1. Since other people likely got it else were and stuff.

Other assumption, the PS4 version sold at least 300k and the PS5 version sold 200k, that would mean 500k for PC in Japan and that would mean over $30 million USD!!!!!!!!!

If that's is what Fromsoft is walking away with, just imagine what Bandai is making from work wide sales.

here's me with a breaking news report in the form of a rant

the final boss of smt strange journey redux fucking sucks, and anyone who says otherwise is a bag of excrement

the boss fight starts off relatively simple; it's a boss that can change different resistances based on previous bosses in the game, for example it can change to Anahita, who has a weakness to fire but resistance to ice (and indifferent to everything else), which seems simple, so you chip away at the health until you've come to 20% hp remaining

the boss then decides it's a good time to sacrifice someone to get their HP back, something they do, and here starts the bullshit

as said, the boss can change between different resistances, but after this HP thing, it adds different resistances except for the one material it is weak to, so for example with the anahita example above, it would now be resistant to everything except ice, which doesn't sound bad

until you realize the fact that the boss is actually resistant to absolutely everything except for ice (for example), which includes fucking ALMIGHTY ATTACKS TOO (THE ONE FUCKING TYPE OF ATTACK THAT YOU JUST CANT FUCKING RESIST NORMALLY), AND ALSO ICE, BECAUSE IT'S BOTH WEAK AND RESISTANT TO ICE

so where does the damage come from?
well, in smt sjr, when you hit an enemy's weakness or strike them with a critical hit, your demons can join in a "co-op attack", which is basically extra damage, but this applies only to demons that are the same allignment as you (neutral, law, chaos) in your active party, so if your entire active party is neutral, then everyone can join in on it

so, you chip away at the hp with these co-op attacks slowly but surely, it's a challenge to keep track of the MP costs, but then there's another problem

in the same way the boss gets the same resistances, it also gets the same types of attacks, which is quite the problem when it changes to Maria's form, in which she has an attack that will insta-kill you if you didn't either farm a specific type of enemy, or if you didnt fuse a demon wtih a specific move that will only get used then and there

but, regardless, you survive on, you lose limbs and begin to be frustrated, but at least you're at the half way point, alongside your demons of your very same allignment, and nothing wrong can happen now

but wrong, everything wrong can happen and you will never be free with this boss battle, because GUESS WHAT THE FUCKING BOSS DOES NOW

NOW IT FUCKING REFLECTS THE MOST DOMINANT TYPE OF ALLIGNMENT PRESENT IN YOUR ACTIVE PARTY

ERGO. if your team consists of ONE ALLIGNMENT, then ALL DEMONS IN THAT ALLIGNMENT CAN NOT ATTACK AT ALL, AS IT'D BE REFLECTED AND THEY'D TAKE THE DAMAGE, BUT THE PROBLEM IS, THIS IS EXACTLY YOUR FUCKING SITUATION AS IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL DAMAGE TO IT

so, you'd probably lose, and think "well, i better make demons of different allignments so this doesn't happen, and then i can alternate between these demons in row, so if it makes an allignment barrier towards neutral, i can bring up law demons for example", BUT NO, IT DOESN'T GO LIKE THAT

because, as said before, the boss can change between resistances to different bosses, BUT WHAT DOES IT DO IN THE MEANWHILE BETWEEN THOSE?
WELL, IT HAS IT'S OWN FORM WITH IT'S OWN RESISTANCES, BUT P.S. IT RESISTS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING EVERYTHING, AND IT CAN'T BE CO-OPED ON, IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DEAL DAMAGE ON WHEN IT'S IN IT'S OWN ORIGINAL FORM, AND IT'S IN THIS FORM A LOT WHEN IT HAS THESE BARRIERS UP


another fair way of looking at it could be to not do different allignments, and just wait till these barriers disappear, they do disappear after 7-9 turns, so what's the hurt in waiting a little? OH WAIT NO, NEVERMIND, THERE IS A LOT OF HURT, AND YOU GET STUCK
because the boss AI SPAMS this fucking barrier move, and not only that, it also likes to spam a fucking healing move that heals 1000 HP (for reference, a normal Co-Op attack on the boss does aproximately 600-800 hp dmg) AND also buffs it to the maximum

the only realistic way to get past this boss is by A LOT OF GRINDING (HOURS), as well as a fair amount of cheating, as you'd have to make your own "password demons" with generators online to save time and sanity points (it's not really a cheat, you get basically a demon but it gets registered into your compendium, so you still have to pay for it in the game), but lets say you have lost your sanity, and you decided to dedicate yourself to this grinding

well, you still aren't safe, because if you reach the red bar on the boss, the boss just says "fuck you", and does an insta kill attack that can just happen like that, with no warning, setup or anything, it just instakills anything it wants

the game itself was pretty alright, but this boss has completely ruined it, we're talking in the same way you can have a fantastic bright red Ferrari Enzo car; it's shiny, it's beautiful, it's utterly amazing, but everything is ruined iF THE INTERIOR IS FUCKING SCRATCHED AND DESTROYED TO ALL HELL

That's roughly 11% of PS5 owners that have that game?

I'm guessing the PC version will end up outselling the PS5 version? And will they end up making a PS4 version after all?

Yeah, I'm a huge SMT fan but the final boss they added with the Redux version is BS.

The other way around, Epic implementing a new launcher on Playstation.
They are calling it launcher but it's basically a game. The called previous version launcher too. Sony would toss them out if it was real launcher because that would avoid Sony certification because they could update game without Sony whenever they want.

Wasn't it the old launcher just a sign-in/log-in process? I can't remember, tbh

Yeah, I'm a huge SMT fan but the final boss they added with the Redux version is BS.
i'm gonna farm a lot of money, and just make the fucking punisher

i'm going to give all of these fuckers on my team repel gun, in fact here's what i'll do exactly in short
basically, my strat is gonna be making three teams of different allignments, alongside backup guys
- vishnu has riot gun + gun amp + gun boost, he's responsible for getting through the first phase of the boss fight, but also he can do gun shit, which is good when the boss changes to Forneus (who is weak against gun), but Vishnu is basically not gonna be there for a lot of it, vishnu is just there so we can get through the first phase easily

after the first phase, the team begins to change and alternate between neutral->law->chaos, and while it is totally possible with just neutral->law, law->chaos, etc., just in case one team gets wiped out

chaos
- make shiva into a magic user who knows fire, ice, wind and fire, as a primary magic damage dealer for damage, but also give him samaracarm and repels to most elements so he can act as a "revive station" who resists most crap (especially repel gun), just in case everything goes south (or give him invitation which then can revive and summon demons at the same time)
  • make huang long into a healer with debilitate, who then heals the chaos team as well as joins their co-op attack for maximum damage, potentially also has the skill that increases the damage output from co-op attacks, probably a good idea to also add some skill against fear or some ailment
  • make susano-o into a magic user who knows the basic four elements too as a secondary magic damage dealer for damage, but instead of doing the same as shiva, instead give him luster candy, extra co-op dmg skill and repel gun

neutral
  • make trumpeter into a main healer/revive guy with salvation and mediarahan + invitation so he can revive the protag and other demons while neutral team is out on the field, he resists most crap
  • make masakado from password gen (because im already past allignment lock, i know the goblin mission but i just dont like changing it right then and there), but basically make masakado into primary magic dealer with the four elements + mana gain or something, basically he does a lot of the damage
  • make mother harlot into a secondary magic dealer + buffer/debuffer, give her the repel wind and gun + luster candy, invitation, debilitate, and coop dmg extra stuff

law
  • make maria into main healer/revive girl for law guys, same stuff as above but in law + luster candy
  • make metatron primary magic dealer, same as above + debilitate
  • make seth into secondary magic dealer

other things to note:
  • farm futotama for tetraja stones for the op insta kill maria ttack the boss does
  • make sandalaphon into a backup reviver with repel everything to heal/revive everyone just in case law goes bad
  • make pale rider into a backup reviver for trumpeter just in case he goes south, as both of them are immune to ailments which is a strong positive

Easiest insta-buy in recent memory.
Looks v good. I'ma wait for post ea though, don't enjoy unfinished RPG-type stuff. Hope it doesn't take long.

Maybe as a coop game, because playing it alone it was a fucking chore. Constantly being forced to use the non-combat characters was fucking painful, specially when invisible enemies entered the fray.
Yeah, as ultimately boring as it was, I largely preferred RE:Rev 1.

Following actual_norwegian_guy post, I also want to raise some criticism of the last dungeon (or bonus dungeon?) in Persona 4 Golden. I just entered it... what? Before entering the game kept asking me to prepare, so I properly prepared by stocking up. But the dungeon takes my whole inventory away during exploration, keeps reducing the MP of my party members, and I am forced to collect items from monsters' drops to replenish HP and MP? What even is this game design...

Yep, that's the one lol. The monsters are weak so I guess I should do fine. However, on one hand they give so few EXP, yet on the other hand the game forces the players to fight monsters for the drops. I absolutely don't know what they are thinking.

However, unless I missed something, the inability to Save or Save&Quit wherever I want is going to make me never play it again. Too busy with a lot of different things to be dealing with that gaming specific shit.

Even in CO-OP it wasn't really anything special. The second player had to play through the whole game as a non-combat character. Who thought it would be fun? I was the unfortunate one to play it as a second character and the most fun I had in this game was when I was playing the little girl and I could put my finger in enemies but holes.

Yeah, right now all they have are specific save locations (red crystals) scattered throughout the levels that you can approach and save as much as you like.

Save & Quit would be a nice option.
