BTW lashman, as we're only 9 pages into this current thread, I suggest just using this one for future PC Gaming/Steam discussions. Just update the thread title each month.

you think? i guess i could ... but i'd also have to update the content of the thread .... and in that case i might as well make a new one ... no? especially since i wouldn't want to lose all the recommendations from previous months ... but i also wouldn't want the OP to be like 5 million characters long

Yeah considering it's still such a small forum it's impressive that this thread is so big.:D (but makes sense considering the origin of most of the members here)
yeah, exactly :p it's BY FAR the most active thread in this forum, lol

so jelly
Insomnia is a hell of a help
(Also, insomnia will kill you, so... win-win?)
Not buying into the whole GaaS concept, not playing multiplayer games work wonders as well.

SuperHot is finished. Says 2.1 hours but it felt like a lot longer.
Very fun... and yes, one of the most innovative shooters in recent years, haha

After each session, my brain was still wired to time-stop while not moving lol

Yesterday I finished the remastered/enhanced version of Little Big Adventure. It's not as good as the sequel (which I pretty much grew up with, particularly the demo), but it's still a fun game. Some of the new additions are nice, like the arrows showing the magic ball and jumping trajectories or removing the wall damage while running (I hated that in the original game, and that's why I never got far in that version), but the point & click controls when using mouse and keyboard are truly baffling. I played with a controller, and they did something weird: instead of being able to change between the 4 behaviors of the original game, they mapped the different actions to the face buttons. You can only change between Normal and Discreet modes, because the others are only enabled while you hold A to run (Sporty) or press X to punch (Aggressive) and then Twinsen goes back to Normal (you can remain in Aggressive if you move after punching without pressing any other button, but that seems to be unintended). This also means you can jump whenever you want, instead of having to switch to Sporty and trigger its action. No idea why they didn't keep the modes and bind them to the shoulder/trigger buttons, like the PS1 port, but whatever. It works well, surprisingly.

Afterwards I tried to make the Windows version of the sequel run, because I didn't want to play the DOS version in DOSBox. Both the GOG and Steam versions come with an image of the game CD inside the installation folder, and to make it run you need to extract two DLLs from there and use some extra DLLs that let you run old DirectX games in modern PCs. Unfortunately the game has a CD check, so as soon as it launched it asked me to insert it. I could bypass it by burning the files on a CD, but I don't have any spare one at hand (and that ruins the purpose of going digital), or downloading a no-CD crack, but I didn't feel like doing that. Guess I'll have to resort to the DOS installation...

Windows 10 can mount ISOs like a normal CD, have you tried that?

Steam needs a new minimalist puzzle game each day.
(Especially if they are as good as those Polish ones)

I legit just bought Puzzlement because you did! Well, your purchase made me check it out.

Though Up Left Out hasn't quite gripped me yet. Decentish.

Yeah, I hope puzzlement is good, looks to be nice.
Up Left Out is just sliding puzzles, which I hate, hate, hate from Layton days. Didn't have any issues with ULO though.
Don't sleep on Delete though, as good if not better than Hexcells, Push or klocki:

Looks like I'm about halfway though Puzzlement, it's really good. It just introduced a mechanic where you can rotate areas a bit like Delete which is a fantastic game as well.

so many awesome puzzle games, so little time
Erm... if only there was a way to find more awesome little puzzle games. Wait, I know, my curator has a special section for short puzzle games!

Games you might have missed curator!

Yeah, I spammed it again. I'll show myself out! :p

I've finished 71 games this year so far, and at least half of them are 10+ hours long. I could have finished more if not bunch of long-ass openworld AAA trash I was dumb enough to start playing them almost at the same time, so basically, I'm playing same games for almost month now and this is not good. Conclusion - if you want to actually clear your backlog, you need to mix both short and long games, or you won't make any progress

well finished dq11, just gotta wrap up the last few achievements, mainly the level 99 ones and the weather forecast one. Not sure what to play next, maybe world of FF.
