The TGS has kind of reminded me of the earlier days of E3. Back when I was actually interested in E3.

differences are, the show doesn’t feel over after tue big pre-show conferences and there is a lot bigger PC presence than there was hack then.

just a shame that when some of the big 3 are involved in marketing we still have to play “Guess if the Game is coming to other Formats”. Although you had to wait anywhere between a day after announcement all the way up to release.

I’m waking up. Expect nonsense.

Do we have a better coverage of TGS or is it already a mile better TGS than usual ? It usually feels like a very minor event with relatively few announcement.

What is this game ?

Reflecting on how 'Live Service' games, adulthood and capitalism game has fucked with my ability to engage with 'regular' games.
Starting a new JRPG is something I have to plan weeks before hand, because I know I'll have an exposition dump on me that might last up to 5 hours and I'm not sure if my attention span with last that much. It's easier to drop on Fortnite or Apex.
Very true. I usually blame my neurotic self but we are also trained for instant gratification in general these days. And it clashes with traditional games (or movie, or book, etc.) tempo.
Compare the usual insane narration of a typical gacha, in medias res, everyone on board as soon as possible, with Persona 3 or 4 where you need maybe two hours of reading before actually playing the game.
I’m not stupid and I don’t expect instant gratification from a traditional game, nor do I want it, but this transform the prospect of starting a game into an intimidating experience.

Now I just discovered the Equivalence Principle and my world is upside down. Can any kind soul explain it to me like I’m five ? Does it mean that 1kg of polystyrene and 1kg of lead touch the floor at the same time when dropped from the same height ?

It harkens back to the old days when there were more than 2-3 shows and mayyybe another one for Ubisoft or whatever, so it's more spread out.
But the bigger difference this year is that we get announcements for PC all over the place as usual, but also that we get Steam focused announcements like for Judgement... and the Deck is the only hardware that gets the spotlight. Or at worse, it's right on the Persona stand, sandwiched between Playstation and Nintendo.

So it's the TGS... but one were most of the attention goes to PC. Even a year ago that would have been just whacky fantasy, and maybe it's a sign of things to come, even in Japan.

It really is impressive how much work has been put into showing off the SteamDeck at TGS. I imagine most of this is due to Komodo putting in the time and effort, with Valve just bankrolling their work. Kind of a shame they don't seem to be as hands on with marketing in the West, honestly.

No, but seriously bruv... nani ?
Oh I thought you were joking before haha, its basic physics, you know gravity, mass and such.

The old saying about iron ball and a feather hitting the ground at the same time.

In my defense I studied humanities and it was a lifetime ago. I was more into the weight of smoke like in the Paul Auster inspired movie of the same name than in real science.
Shouldn't an heavier object hit the ground first ?

And my science teacher were assholes.
I'm blameless.
Truth.
Maybe.

I love Brian Cox videos. He always comes across as someone who just loves talking about his favourite subjects.

got to say, when they started closing the doors it just reminded me of launching of Thunderbird 2.

finally, future me loves science talk like this and hates past me for not taking an interest in it back then.

But how do you clean them ? This won't fit in a dishwasher :thinking-face:
I am not sure I want to know the answer to that particular question…

I just noticed that 95% of my total game collection across all platforms is backlog.

That being said, lots of games are unnecessarily long. But then again, I probably have 1500 hours of Apex played, probs could have played half an Assassins Creed game.
For me, Live Service games have reduced the amount of time I spend on "regular" games, but not really how I engange with games overall, because the only type of Live Service model I actually seem to be able to stick with is Genshin's, which is more or less very similar to "regular" games, just with a really fast and constant stream of smaller and bigger DLC and expansion release equivalents full of unique content, no competetive aspect, no MMO endgame grind and only a minimal daily upkeep to keep you logging in (but those incentives are fairly weak after you've played a while, which I also appreciate.)

Almost bought Moss Book II on Oculus Quest 2, so I’m glad I waited.
