In other news, for those playing Hitman 2 (and if you aren't, you should :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:), don't forget the latest elusive target will only be around for a few more days:

Regarding Hitman, I'm stuck in Paris still, from the first season. It was fun but didn't make me want to go back to it and finish. And this is pretty much my story with the Hitman franchise; other than Silent Assassin I never went further than two or three levels in.

Disney keeps going back and forth when it comes to video games.
One day they are closing their development studios. The other they remind themselves they own a big pile of properties and games, and start making plans to re-release them, or license them to other publishers.

Fortunately, I own almost all their games on Steam, especially the Tron games, since I like the franchise (and love the original film :) ).

Probably a licensing issue. Maybe some of the tech? The soundtrack?
Either way, it's a strange choice.
Hopefully, everyone who wanted it go it before it was taken down.
Do the still own the Turok license? I'd kill for them to realize they own that again

huh ... well that's weird ... i wonder what happened there? i mean - they own the rights to everything in that game

does that mean they'll start removing their other games now?
Glad I already own almost every disney game on Steam. Maybe its a good time for me to get the Disney Princess pack

Sucks Tron is the first to go though, I love the series and had a good time with Evolution.

Nice to see this place getting more active. May actually start posting a bit more.
If everyone thought like this, we'd always be waiting for more activity. I thought so too at first. Then I decided to help be the activity so many seem to crave.

Glad we got so many new people and returning ones too though. Hopefully you stick around too. :)

Well, "more active" will still be very little for me Not like I was super active in SteamEra either as I was and still am primarily a console gamer in addition to trying to move away from forums in general. Doesn't mean I won't stop in once in a while to talk about a PC game I'm playing ;D

Speaking of, recently played through OneShot. I really love that these medium-breaking games have found a place in the indie space and hope to see more in the future.

No, no, remember. The store of choice for true PC gamers won't accept crappy games like OneShot, so it's best not to discuss them. Just enjoy your curated content like the good consumer you are.🥚

I'm really debating on whether or not to purchase Mortal Kombat 11. I've been a huge fan of the series since I played the original in a smoke-filled bowling alley in 93. With that said, I'm much older now and not so great a fighters anymore and as much as I loved 9, X really turned me off with its playstyle. I couldn't pull off any combos in X, lol. I also don't play fighters online.

I was fine with the gore in MK when the games were still pixelated... but nowadays it's such a turn off. Like blood and guts don't usually bother me in games and movies but they take it to a whole new level that is honestly disturbing to me.

That kind of violence just for violence sake probably deserves much stricter rating than say anime panties lol.

Probably not a very popular opinion though.

Yeah, I play pretty slowly and I kinda suck, so I got stuck for a while on a few bosses lol. I also fucked up by getting the normal ending first, so even with save backups I had to do an extra run to get them all.
I had like 50 hours+ on my first playthrough, I explored so much because I didn't want to miss items/tool upgrades, and even with that I was still missing merchants and stuff/items until I refer to a guide, at least I got the "true" ending without looking it up, was kind of annoyed I missed unlocking Hirata #2 because I missed 1 small step, I'm probably going to save scum the "Normal" ending because NG+ is getting a bit boring and I still need to do another playthrough to unlock the last bosses I want to fight.

Yeah, I missed Hirata 2 as well. It's one of the reasons why I ended up having to do an extra run. I was so annoyed when I realized my mistake lol.

Well, fighters aren't really my thing so it's more of an "outsider" opinion but I also find the violence on MK... uncomfortable. I like the "cheese" of the characters (probably from being a fan of the original movie) and the general style, but the violence is so excessive and intrusive that honestly I just end up being annoyed in the end.

Not going to touch the anime panties comment :)
(even though I agree)

It was definitely a more fun curiosity back when it was all pixely. Something parents got all up in arms over, but something to laugh at for everyone else.

And while it's still over the top and fantastical, there's definitely an added layer of human suffering that I can't blame anyone getting uncomfortable over. I'm pretty mixed on it as I both have a fascination with and am deeply disturbed by macabre stuff on this level, and it's still clearly being glorified despite it all. Unlike pixely MK games, it's not something I'd want kids playing, at least not without being contexualized by parents.

And yeah, I don't think it's comparable to dumb anime fanservice, at least in terms of immediate reactions. Ratings should absolutely reflect that.

This is kind of where I'm at too. I honestly can't explain why MK11's gore puts me off so much considering I'm someone with a very strong stomach when it comes to that stuff usually.

I mean, I'm the person who just a couple months ago was excited when I unlocked the unbreakable knife in RE2 Remake so I could hack zombies apart for some sweet revenge after the countless bites from my previous run.

We have a few weeks until Valve reveals their new headset. Should be fun.

All of a sudden I became extremely excited for MK11, so I am currently watching the cutscenes of MK9 and planning on playing through the story of MKX.

My first impression of 9 is that the models/graphics have aged terribly. I am being sufficiently entertained though, and I guess that is all I can ask for. :nerd-face:

I totally forgot Valve was gonna enter the fray too. Oh boy. 🤔 Guess I'll put a hold on any definitive buying plans for a headset just yet.

Yeah honestly I think it's the way it is framed and cosmic used the word "glorified" which is interesting, because I believe that too contributes to the awkward/weirdness of it. I don't think that kinda stuff should be glorified personally. I definitely get that it's campy and fake, it's also just like too much though. Ick.

I won't shame those that enjoy it/play it though. (y)

I don't mind shock gore when it's meant to feel bad, like say in Spec Ops: The Line where the white phosphorus thing was purposely meant to shock and make you feel bad. (What a mind trip that game is btw.)

I generally dislike violence and much prefer non-lethal solution against enemies in games, like say Dishonoured. However, I don't have a problem with animu voyeurism as long as the panties' wearer isn't under-aged.

I think you have a 1080Ti, right? DSR would probably be more viable, although this frame times issue worries me a bit since it already inconsistent on 1080p. YMMV.
Yeah true. I wouldn't even mind if I had to lock at 30FPS for this kinda game.

I totally forgot to setup DSR since I got a 1080ti, it's been 4K all the time which is hard enough to run. When I had a 970, I would use DSR a lot cuz 1080p isn't too hard.

Will have to google how to set that up again. 😅

How's the rest of what you've played? I have it on my wishlist, but I need to choose between that, Fate/Estella Link and the new Atelier as my next purchase.
I admit this is an awkward one to answer and it'll come down to your expectations.

Do you want a survival management dungeon crawler? Then probably yes but I'm sadly not the right person to ask, as it's not a genre I'm familiar with but also due to the next question.

Do you want another Danganronpa like experience? Then no, wait for a sale.

It's quite probably my fault going in with that expectation of "from the creators of Danganronpa" but I assumed it'd be much more story focused with the "gameplay" tacked on (for lack of a better term) like that series, and it's not, it's the other way around.

On the merits of a VN like experience alone, it's not strong enough, and longer than needed through that lens, as the bulk of the game is spent in the dungeons.

I'm still going to finish it as the story still has me interested, but also as I've spent £45 on it tbh.

PS: all that said Sho & Mirai (clearly the stand in mascot characters in place of a Monokuma) are really great in this and are my highlight of the story.

Tokyo Dark is amazing, but man that save system sucked so much for getting the different endings.
Yeah, I can see that. I'll see how I deal with that. Go through it blind first and then decide what to do next, I guess.
"Auto-save makes your choices final whether you want to or not" might not be the greatest idea.
How many endings are there?
