Happy Christmas all. Hope you have a great one.

Yeah, Citizen Sleeper has its hooks in me and will definitely be replaying, especially as I have messed up one of the story paths. While I will keep it vague, anybody who has played it will probably understand when I say it was the Mina and Lem story. Just failed it. And I am absolutely gutted…

yeah, think this is my game of the year now.

Merry Christmas!

What does that even mean? I need answers Type-Moon

By the way from my understanding they do stuff different in Japan when it comes to Christmas right? One of those being that KFC is the go to place for your Christmas dinner (sorry McDonald's)

I'm not sure how accurate it really is and maybe other countries also do this as well, but do people really just view it as a time to ditch your family and go on a date (nobody wants to be stuck home without a date on Christmas, or something along the lines of not wanting to be home with your family and want to be in a date with a special someone, so it's sort of treated like Valentine's day? Which wouldn't really work in a place like the US where a vast majority of things are closed for that day, because Christmas this year is on a Sunday a lot of places are going to be closed on Monday)

Happy Holidays, Meta!

Still Christmas Eve for me, but getting together with family near the ocean this year will be nice. And because California has nice weather it's probably won't be freezing. Though I think some rain is expected next week. Just another day in paradise. There's a reason why it's so expensive to live here, it's even 68F (20C) on Christmas lol.

Today when I got in my car it was very hot and when I got home I just left the door open because of warm it was.

I'm going to be going to Disneyland next week for my birthday. I'm going to be at California Adventure the first day and Disneyland the second day. It's expected to rain on both of these days. There is some good news since some people may just end up cancelling and not even bother show up at all. One thing that does suck is how I booked the Fantasmic dinning package at the Blue Bayou (the pirate of the Caribbean restaurant) and I won't be able to get one of the benefits of the that package because of rain.)

Le Pertti I plan to take pictures and I do also get a rain poncho for my camera.

Hopefully it goes well.

Three coffees. Slept at 7 in the morning. Passed the time playing Death Stranding for the first time.
Given the game, we could call that an hallucinatory night.

Still trying to process what I played :dizzy-face:

Playing Uncharted 4. Runs fine on Linux once the shaders have compiled (had big instability before that).

On paper I should love it. It has gorgeous vistas, involves exploring old ruins, light puzzles and combat,... it plays much like the Tomb Raider 2013+ games, which are games I like for those qualities.

And yet I find myself kinda hating it.

1° The combat feels atrocious. Among other things, it doesn't matter what the mooks (of which there are far too many) are wearing, they take .45cal pistol rounds, and even multiple assault rifle rounds to the chest like champs, barely flinching. So do I for that matter. On Normal.

2° The game simultaneously encourages exploration by hiding collectables in nooks and crannies, yet punishes you for exploring, by regularly preventing you from backtracking, and railroading you. It's never a good thing, and sometimes it's really offensively, cretinously implemented.

For instance, I just came across a big tower. I want to go up to the tower, take in the view, figure out how to get in and, you know, play. On the way there, there is a door; expecting a small cellar with a collectable (based on the last 3 I saw), I go in. When the two dudebros follow me in, I realise that it's actually the main path and I'm locked in, can't go back, must follow the subterranean path that, it turns out, leads into the tower. I assume it's locked or something, but I never had a chance to explore and find out for myself. I'm inside and can't get out.

I don't understand that kind of design. Why thrust the solution to a problem in my face before I even have a chance to find out there even is a problem ? Why lock me into it? You went to the trouble of modelling the tower, why not give me a chance to look at it? What else have I missed by opening that door?

So to me it feels less like a game and more like an extended cutscene broken up by shitty combat, where I have only the illusion of agency but get a sharp rap on the knuckles whenever I try to actually exercise it.

I think I'll just stop exploring, finish it as fast as possible to see the pretty views, and go play TR when it's over, to scratch that "Indiana Jones, the game!" itch which this one is teasing but never satisfying.

See, I knew playing High on Life for Christmas was a good idea, it's all about red and green (and blue, and yellow, and neon pink, and some colors I don't think are actually real) and giving everyone the middle finger while you scream obscenities at each other.
It really is just as jovial as real Christmas!

I think I actually love the game, and it's pretty much the realization of gross out humor from the 90s. It even has collectible garbage pail cards. It's perfection.

Why does Ubisoft keep dropping now that theyre back on steam wtf

Dang in 2018 they were $24 a share and they are less than $6 for a share now.

They somehow lost 3/4 of their value in 4 years.

Is Vivendi glad that they didn't buy Ubisoft now?

Also what????? This is from 2018. The Tencent thing is whatever, but the teacher thing is just wow....

"Under the terms of the agreement, Ubisoft is welcoming two groups into the fold as “long-term investors”: the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan — an independent organization that administers pensions for about 318,000 teachers in Canada’s most populous province — and Tencent, the Chinese conglomerate that is already a major player in the gaming space."

I got that from an article by Polygon.

They haven't had a big successful release in a long while now so there is no reason for their stock to go up. They need to have a big showcase and show some footage for their upcoming games otherwise investors aren't gonna give a shit.

Ubi and Xbox both need events showcasing stuff soon because they announced so much shit just to go silent for years with it.

Especially Xbox. They are sitting on like 5 big CGI trailers with nothing to show for it.

That's Aoko and Alice, the two leads in Witch on The Holy Night. It's just a wordplay on the title since the game was recently released a couple of weeks ago, and it was set during Christmastime. Seems fitting.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!!

It has been a busy last few days. Had the flu go around our house and then a major blizzard, with wind chills down to -40C and 50mph/80kph winds. Unfortunately meant my brother could not come back since his flight was cancelled. Still made the best of a crummy circumstance and still looking forward to several days off work.

Also, some exciting news to share. We are expecting our second child, a boy, in May/June. It will be our last child and hoping our kids get along haha.

Depressed cuz I bought myself Persona 5 Royal for Christmas with a gift-card from my Sister. (Which I responsibly split half-and-half on necessities Vs. Wants), but unfortunately my laptop can't really run it too well. Even at 900p, I can't maintain 30FPS during gameplay. >_<

(And my laptop has a 4k screen, so 900p stretched already looks awful. Can't imagine trying to lower it even more to say 720p.)

I thought the Nvidia 940MX inside would run it at least somewhat good (being two generations ahead of the recommended 700-series Card), but it seems I was quite mistaken. :notlikethisblob: I even tried the Special-K fixes/injector which did nab me a little less frame-drops but it was still chugging really bad in any section that wasn't combat or animated cutscene.

The question is, do i even WANT to remember that far back?
Well probably not since you aren't a middle aged Japanese Salary man whose overly attached to his adolescence. 😓

Does this have to do with that one mobile only game?
I mean it was "mobile" in a way.... not the way you're thinking though. Crisis Core OG was released on PSP in 2007 (At least when I lived in Japan as a kid, dunno about rest of world.) The third character in Hektor's picture is a character from that game, and also the recent remaster of CC which is why suddenly people remember her lol.

Games requirements are based on desktop cards, and laptop gpu names can be very misleading unfortunately... There seems to be 2 variations of the 940MX, but both seem to be based on the desktop's GTX 750 core and both seem to be worse than it.
