read about magicka and how it influenced paradox
Unrelated but the first time I cast the BSOD spell, the game crashed. I thought that was intended to troll the player and never used it again. It was midway through the campaign, where a particularly gnarly battle kept crashing, for me to realize that 1) no, it's just the game and 2) the spell was actually pretty damn useful.

It really depends, I started with FE Awakening, and it's different than previous games.

All of these newer games are more user friendly which is good for those that want to get into the series and also have an option for those more hardcore people.

So permadeath is more of an option if you choose.

I liked 3houses and liked how it felt more like you and an army vs another army compared to fights just feeling like 1v1 matches like you might see in an anime.

Also if you get the chance I highly recommend the first FE Musou game, I have not had a chance to play the second one despite also owning that one as well (sucks how the CE for the game was EU only) I normally don't play Musou games but it does sucks a great job of mixing both elements of a Musou game and a FE game.

By the way if you ever get the chance to play fates make sure to play all 3 versions of that game (it sucks how there are 3 versions and how Nintendo charges you $40 for 2 versions and then charges you $20 for the definitive version which is the third version and that version is DLC exclusive. So unless you have the game physically like I do with all 3 in one people in the future may likely never get a chance to play it (especially with seeing how as the years go by less and less people know how to obtain ROMs it seems)

Play in release order :evilblob:
My issue is more to do with OCD, because I'm sure the first FE didn't have that much writting, but between the All-Star flavor of the Mosou games and Engage with its summon mechanic or whatever they call it, it feels a little anticlimactic to not have played the Marth, Roy etc. games.

Here in Mexico we have a meme for people who buy iPhones and consoles. 'Nah bro you could have afforded a Xiaomi and a PC with that' usually told to people who don't know what a Xiaomi is or haven't touched a PC since 2003
hahaha, amazing

Aside from Hi--fi Rush, no surprises here!

Last week:
While it probably did better on PS5, I think it's safe to say Forspoken is the first bomb of 2023. I know the Dead Space 2 gifts messed up this week's top 10, but not even reaching it at all even when having a front page carousel is just plain bad. It's currently in 78th place on the global charts and will likely exit the top 100 in a day or two.

I wonder what the max concurrent player count for Hogwarts is going to be. I'm guessing at least 350k-400k given how well the preorders have been selling.

I just uninstalled engage tonight like 1 chapter before the last one. I don't know yet if it's my least favorite fire emblem, that requires deeper thinking and not heat of the moment reactions, but it's damn sure going to be near the bottom. The writing, both with characters and the overall story, is so bad and generic that it made me wonder why I'm putting up with missions that have infinite spawning reinforcements that appear on every turn and near the boss so you can't rush past. There's just no payoff worth dealing with this stuff when you know the writing is this bad.

I know three houses is a bit of an outlier in fire emblem history with its deeper story (and actually touching on a lot of heavy themes) and social elements so I've seen people try to excuse engage by saying it's a return to "normal" fire emblem but when you have all that stuff it sucks to lose it especially when it was pretty well done. And actually I disagree that it returned to form, because it DOES have a lot of social elements. It has a sprawling base you go back to every mission, it just really sucks compared to the academy and the features it has are not fleshed out as much as they were in 3H. It has minigames that feel very pointless as they mostly offer temporary stat gains for 1 person and for 1 mission only. It has an annoying gacha system with the rings where you can generate random sub-rings to give to people. So many parts of this game feel like a total misfire and weirdly handled that it's like another developer handled this game.

I've always wanted to try Sony's phones.
I've heard mixed thing about them which is why I was somewhat hesitant.

They have a good physical build quality (the outside part of the phone) they take nice pictures. They also have a nice display as well.

The bad is that they are very expensive, you can get a better overall phone for half the price. Sony does have cheaper phones but at those price range the Xperia 10 series is not really a Sony phone and is more of an average phone you could get at $600.

I hear that the phone that I plan to get can overheat, but that mainly seems to be for video recording and when using more heavy work load stuff.

The main reason I'm getting one is because in the future Sony may just stop making Xperia phones all together (I think they only sell 1 million phones each year) and also it seems like it would be a good companion to my Sony Alpha Camera.

That's pretty much the case. At least according to wiki it says the game directors of 3houses were made into producers for engage. Also KT was not involved this time.

The reason why Three Houses is an outlier is because it was written by Koei Tecmo's team. Koei didn't work on Engage (guess they were busy with Three Hopes?) so Engage is gone back to that Intelligent Systems formula everyone knows and "loves."

Normally I'd say I'm surprised Intellegent Systems didnt work with Koei again after how well 3H did both commercially and critically, but considering this is the same studio that ignored the acclaim for Paper Mario. and made whatever the hell Sticker Star was. I'm not really that surprised.

Oh well that explains quite a lot then lol. It really sucks they couldn't figure out a way to work together again, talk about a blown opportunity to capitalize on the momentum of a smash hit.

According to rumor another FE game is in development and Koei/Gust are on it.

That's the thing, the list is supposed to be revenue based so if true, a gift copy shouldn't be appearing on it. Very weird.
Can't check right now but the game's being sold on steam right? Maybe the "revenue" is the nr of gifts x the base price? I'm guessing steam's backend is a bit dumb and can't distinguish between a zero cost purchase and a real one of the same appid

Yeah, probably. I wish Valve would sort these issues out and combine different versions of the same game. A top-ten chart that has ten different games on it is more interesting than a chart with three or four duplicate entries.

Interesting that Epic rather shuts Rumbleverse down than bringing it to Steam. I guess we shouldn't expect other Epic published games to hit Steam neither.
Nah, MP games will never come, SP ones are a different type of beast. I wouldn't follow that thinking route.
