I sympathize with independent developers trying to make a living, but adjusting old digital game pricing for inflation is weird af. Especially games that were released a decade+ ago, have been in countless bundles, and whose actual value has depreciated way beyond the inflation gap by the mere existence of newer games and technologies.

If I would venture a guess, I'd say most of the value of games as digital products and services comes from the novelty factor, followed by consistent demand. There's artistic and intrinsic value to games, and with physical-only there used to be scarcity value, but it's a big leap to try and argue this idea that real, full value needs to keep up with inflation for one and done products. By their own admission, there are no improvements to these games coming or even Steam projects in the pipeline. Big publishers usually get away with stuff like this and I've seen studios do it more and more, but it's always harder for indies.

It's not even a criticism of a particular studio in this case, I appreciate that they seem to acknowledge it's a hard thing to do, and they will keep regional pricing consistent with Valve's suggestions. But I imagine this is purely done so they can collect a bigger cut while not having to discount their games by a lower percentage during sales, giving customers a bad feeling of higher discounts being taken off the table. I also think the optics of a move like this could be worse anyways, so...

...good luck I guess. I bought Tiny and Big ages ago and thought it was a good game. At least they have the decency to give people a heads up, sometimes I hop on Steam and see weird prices that I'm not sure I've seen before so I have to go hunting for pricing history (constantly fluctuating regional pricing is even worse to keep track of).

I've gotten back to Octopath II after the deluge of all the other games I needed to play, and man it's still absolutely excellent. I really hope it does well in the long run...
I'm gonna continue playing that after I'm done with RE4Remake

Does Persona 5 ever end? 96 hours in and it still keeps going.
You can rest assured that you've reached the end when you start arguing on the internet about who the 'best girl' is :grinning-face:

I started playing Remnant: From the Ashes with a friend yesterday and we're finding the game quite hard. Every boss fight has been a struggle and I think we'd both admit the only reason we got through them is because someone joined from public matchmaking and helped us through them. Does anyone have any tips on how to play the game or make it easier that might not be obvious to new players? So far we've just finished the Earth section and moved on to the next one and except for one boss fight at the end of Earth we struggled everywhere. We even played the whole Earth area twice, once in his game and once in mine and yep, it was rough all the way.

I sympathize with no one increasing prices of digital goods no longer in development.

Atomic Heart is really captivating so far and I like how difficulty and hard it is to kill a single robot. Feels like every robot you meet actually can fight. Not often you get that in games you fight robots.

My first run of Royal was about 120 hours. What month are you at?
Im in the middle of December, just before the elections. I believe I have two more months? At least that's where the calendar ends, but there are some months where nothing happens and then there are some months that just never end.

You’re nearly there. Depending on whether you’ve maxed out certain confidants or not will determine whether you unlock the P5R extra semester or jump to the original P5 ending.

I’ll leave it there to avoid spoilers.

Vanilla Persona 5 took me that long

Price increase for some old games.
The underpants game was the first game I ever purchased on Steam in 2014 since it was just $0.99USD.

Royal and regular P5 are a similar length. P5R crams more stuff into the same playtime and cuts back on the Mementos grind significantly.

It’s a much tighter and more enjoyable experience compared to the original.

Continue to be impressed by The Last of Us. I still don't think it's anywhere good enough to warrant the hype it got, but it is pretty addicting and you want to continue playing to see where the story goes. It also does a nice job of balancing out the grim-dark commentary on human nature with some nice humanising moments here and there.
On the technical side, I would recommend people to use their graphics driver to limit the FPS to 60 in this game. It really helps make everything much smoother. It helps that I am usually somewhere in the 70s to 80s, so you can use the headroom to hide some of the stuttering you would get from the streaming and decompression of textures. Still kinda baffled by this port, especially from a team like Naughty Dogs. It seems like they made some rather bad design choices, and it was presumably too late to revert them. Kinda hope they keep working at the underlying tech for when they want to release Part 2 on PC.

Royal with the added content took me about 120 hours with the added scenes sprinkled throughout the game and the extra month and dungeon at the end.

Price error on Sea of Thieves Deluxe Edition - 850 HUF ~ 2,24 euro

Dunno if this will be refunded as MS refunded the Forza 4 and 5 deal some months ago. Either way I bought it for dirt cheap

100%ing Persona games transformed into more like a Ubisoft open-world checkmark game than the cozy, quirky, adventures of previous games.
The time management got so brutal and unforgiving that you can't just explore the game and just hang out with your friends. If you want to get full social links and stats you NEED a walkthrough and with a walkthrough you follow it strictly without really "living" in the world, exploring it, have fun in all the activities that you can do.

P5R is a really good game, but I miss just hanging out and doing what I want like in P3 or P4.

If anyone is starting their first Persona game, my advise is to ignore walkthroughs and trying to optimize your days. But that is also a tall ask with such a long game, because you won't get the true ending without a walkthrough or a new game+ and now you have to play the game for 200 hours instead of 100.

Yeah, the games are designed to not be 100%-able in one run unless you know what you’re doing, or have a guide.

The game is better that way. Your experience is your own. This desire to “do everything” is not the way these are meant to be played. Just do it your way.

Happy Easter everyone! 🥰

My daughter got lots of chocolate from us and her grandparents, but sadly for her she departs to a camp tomorrow for a whole week. We'll try to leave some of the chocolate for her when she gets back 😋

If you buy this as a gift, you should be fine? Back then, I bought Forza for myself and gifted a copy to a friend, my copy is long gone and the gift one is fine.

I am generally not into JRPGs, the only one I played and finished was FF15, but seeing so much praise for Personas I considered trying P5R since it is in gamepass.

But damn this turns me off completely. What does it mean, "true ending" ? There are multiple endings and only one is canonical? The non-true ones are not satisfying? e.g. Cyberpunk has multiple endings each with unique long epilogue and I would struggle to call any of them "true".

JRPG's have the tendency to have any number of:
  • bad ending(s)
  • normal ending
  • good ending
  • true ending

Bad endings can range from game overs before you finished the game, to an ending that has finished the game but is considered a "failure" in terms of goals.
Normal endings can be considered just "finishing" the games. You get an epilog, everything is fine but in most cases some part of the story wasn't resolved, you couldn't save specific people, etc.
Good endings are normally when you saved everyone and found the hidden culprit or danger and beat it.
True endings are either dependent on 100%ing the game or only available with a New Game+

An example would be:
Normal ending: You defeated the bad boss and even if some NPC's or party members didn't make it, you were victorious.
Good Ending: You defeated the bad boos and all people you could save, have been saved.
True ending: You defeated the bad boss but you know that he was only a pawn, and your friend Otto was the mastermind all along and you have to fight him for the true ending.

Or the good ending was where you found that your friend Otto is the mastermind and the True ending is either you finding out why he did what he did, or you have the knowledge on how to redeem him etc. etc.

New ship boys!
Cost and arm and a leg and had to do questionable things to get it but it's mine :evilblob:

All this talk about Battlestar Galactica made me to take a look. Holy shit this pilot episode is not joking, so desperate, depressing and interesting characters. Why haven't I watched this earlier o_O
You need to watch the miniseries before watching the pilot.
