Bethesda has always been great with their reveals and shows...but somehow this Starfield direct was even better than that 30 minute Fallout 4 unveil back in 2015.

I really wish all AAA games out there did presentations like that. With devs talking and everything it just builds real excitement.

They haven't shown it yet but I still think it will happen. If not the vanilla game they will release some DLC with alien race story of some kind. I mean if they did weird shit like that for Fallout 3 they will do it for Starfield. They better. Its too much of a missed opportunity otherwise.

It will probably be some time before they put all their devs to work full time on the next Elder Scrolls so I expect Starfield to have a lot of good DLC/Expansions in the coming years.

Dropping 100$ on Starfield to play up to 5 days early is kind of counterproductive.

Gonna be playing it for so long that early access is meaningless and just better to spend it on any of the other games releasing in August/Sept. Those 2 months are so stupid stacked.

It's almost surreal how there was barely any gameplay in that whole show.
Starfield looked as shallow as every other BGS game since Oblivion and I bet it'll a broken mess on release. Yet it'll sell record numbers.

Avowed might be good but it certainly didn't look good.

Avowed has the same problem as Outer Worlds and Grounded. They all look like Unreal Engine games. Its hard to get away from it but they really need their own new proprietary tech. Its what they need to work on next.

Well, Microsoft conference... disappointed that we don't even know what Sout of Midnight is, even with an interesting atmosphere and artstyle.
Fable looks visually really good, but that's not really revealing much at all. Same for Star Wars Outlaws and Hellblade 2 really.
Avowed gameplay, earlier than I expected, it looks really solid even if a big step behind the bigger projects, but I like a lot, it feels like Dark Messiah and much more, it's Obsidian, I'm not too worried.

And then the leaked Persona 3 remake, Persona 5 Tactica, but also Metaphor which is a much bigger surprise and looks really sweet, Path of the Goddess from Capcom, Yakuza 8? I know pants would be soiled if it wasn't at eeeevil Microsoft and somewhere else.

Add Dungeons of Hinterberg, Jusant, Clockwork Revolution (which seems much closer than usual and not a nebulous "maybe in five years"), and the end result... is that it's was surprisingly good, and condensed in just one hour, easily the best pacing we've had in years?

Easily the most wishlisted games I've added for a big conf in ages.
Absolutely absurd how much new stuff there was, if only all of them had at least a little gameplay...

Credit where it's due though, Starfield actually surprised me by looking more interesting combat wise than I expected. It did hype me a little bit. Overall great conference from MSoft. New IP's. Lots of interesting looking games. 3 different Persona's, and everything shown is coming to PC. The most confusing part was Hellblade 2, I'm interested in the game, but that trailer was so dumb.

OH AND CYBERPUNK!!! Fuck yeah it looked amazing!! I can't wait. I really really really need it.

Starfield looked great. I noticed they showed the combat for an extended period of time. Hopefully they are confident that it'll be good this time. The only thing that concerns me is the scale they're going for. What makes previous BGS game worlds good is that there's always something interesting to discover whichever direction you go in. But those interesting things are hand placed in the game world. I don't know how they can replicate that entertaining exploration with the number of locations they have and with most being procedurally generated.

I liked inXile steampunk Bioshock. Avowed was ok but I kind of wish it hadn't been a magic/fantasy game.

The whole 'everything will be ingame footage' was a waste of time. I have no idea what that Compulsion game is. No idea what kind of game Ubi Star Wars is. If Fable wasn't a known franchise you wouldn't be able to tell what kind of game it is. Hellblade was by far the worst trailer because it didn't convey one iota of relevant information even when you know what kind of game it is.

id software, Machine games and Coalition were missing. It's been several years since their last releases so I was hoping to see what they are upto.

Overall it was a good presentation. Miles better than Sony anyway. Better than SGF too because it didn't have talking heads, doordash ads and Geoff's face.

PC Gaming Show continues its tradition of being mostly a waste of time. Nothing wrong with the games being shown but nothing's really exciting enough to justify suffering through the cringe humor. I don't think there's been anything genuinely hype on the show since they revealed the first batch of Yakuza ports.
