I cant think of a single non-indie game thats less than 50GB nowadays
Here's another "Hold the fuck up"

Somehow my dwarves dug out a room that should be impossible to access. That one door (Where I intend to put the pump for irrigation for my near-future farm) leads directly out in 7/7 river water at the bottom of a 20-z ravine.
Well at least they only dug up some water and not Durin's Bane

There's basically three games in that one, so you could play the first 30 hours or so and then quit after the big finale of the first part, if you didn't like it that much. Also arguably the perfect game for the Steam Deck, as you won't notice the degraded texture quality on a 720p screen.

Nintendo games. Tears of the Kingdom is 16GB, Pikmin 4 is 10GB and Mario Wonder a whopping 3.5GB.
I think a lot of it has to do with textures. I saw this thing were Hogwarts legacy is over 50GB on PC and the Switch version is under 9GB. The only reason that I can think of, for that is that the textures are of a much lower quality since the switch would not be able to make use of higher quality assets.

Which version would be best to play? I have standard edition, but if the definitive edition is the better one to play I might consider to buy it

It looks like all of these are on PC, with the exception of 3 of them, FF VII, Ys, and Foamstar.

Also I'm confused by the line up, they are showing new upcoming games but also already released games. If that's the case why not show Spiderman as well? But then again it seems to be mainly just third party titles. Also TeddyLoid is involved

Better in many ways, good story and characters, great sense of exploration, looks great; the side content is actually surprisingly fun too, especially the crafting. Visible monsters and short loading times (on top of having larger open levels than the 3DS remakes forcing you into almost all encounters) make a gigantic difference in how approachable it is too, going back somewhere to do whatever does not feel like punishment anymore.

On the other hand, it still suffers from pacing issues, especially in the last third of the game (and it is a very, VERY long game) and the level design is inconsequential at the best of times, veering on frustrating at times, the last dungeon is pretty miserable. But again, since you can avoid most of the enemies, it's less painful than it could have been.

The regular version has much higher quality assets, but you are better of playing the DE since it just has a lot more content added to the game. But sadly the DE has lower quality assets since it's based of the Switch version. I'm not sure if a mod ever came out that tried to swap out the textures, even though if there was one it would only work for certain parts of the game.

And two of those will hit PC in about two years, I would guess. The new Ys might come sooner. No clue about Foamstar, but doesn't look like something I'd be interested in

I've yet to play 8, but 11 is fantastic. It's what got me into the series, and also disappointed with any other JRPG series I've tried.

It's that rubber duck game again. But this time it's about polluting a nice river, what the fuck!

In all fairness, Rebirth will come, Ys will come too and Foamstar will die before it can be released on PC but it would if it lasted long enough. So....

Who owns the Battletech IP? Because that's basically what I want from HBS, more Battletech!
I never understood why paradox / HBS didn go full DLC extravaganza with BATTLETECH.
Story DLC would have been a no-brainer low-cost DLC strategy. There are so many stories in the battletech universe. And with the barebones presentation (I am okay with that) it wouldn't cost that much.
Mech DLC is another beast with licensing and so on, but why not story DLC with a few new maps?

Well, back to Roguetech, with 1500 mechs, vehicles, VTOL'S, Airmechs, etc., several dozen maps and a dozen new features.

It goes far beyond textures:

(I've followed this off and on not because I'm paticularly interested in DQ11, but because releasing a PC version without providing access to at least the highest quality assets that exist is a deadly sin)

Started Detroit Become Human and the game is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting my usb devices. WTF? Anyone here ever have this issue and know a fix?

As for the game itself, I'm really impressed by how well it holds up visually. It's impressive.

WTF indeed :huhblob:

I played Detroit twice, once on Windows and once on Linux (not a full play-through, as work stuff killed my momentum), and never experienced that.

Nor have I ever had any game do that.

I'm frankly skeptical that a game, in and of itself, would or could do that, on general principles. There's probably something else at play here.

Our Trails through Daybreak release is ~ 10 GB :p

(To be fair, I guess Falcom is closer to a large indie in terms of production than a AAAA game; but it's still a full-scale JRPG in the amount of content)
Speaking of pH3 and Falcom games - any chance on adding DLSS/XeSS?
I'm currently playing through Cold Steel III, and even with 4x MSAA (sorry, my 3070 is not capable of 8x or downsampling, given I play on a 4k120 screen), the game has loads of (shader?) aliasing.
Or is Falcom engine just incapable of supplying temporal data?

None of the Falcom engines have any motion vectors, otherwise we would have done this already.

Adding them to the engine and doing it well and in a complete manner across all assets and render paths / systems (which is needed for TAA or any of the upsampling technologies) is a pretty massive undertaking.

If they’re willing to make THPS 1 & 2 offline for Steam Deck, they should just make the whole thing offline.

Modders are going to find a way to spoof this in no time at all. Just give it up - always online is a scam.

It only happens while I'm playing this particular game. It's crazy. I actually found a handful of people online with the same issue but no fix.

I need to retime the subtitles of about 50 anime episodes. Do you have a command line tool recommendation that I can use in a shell script to do this? It's been years since I've used Aegisub, but I don't want to use it for this kind of task either.

I prefer a linux binary, but I suppose I can use Windows-based tool too if need be.
I was always timing from scratch rather than editing existing timing, so I never had any use for scripts. ¯\(ツ)
Aegisub back then was already basically perfect, so I'd probably do each episode manually by shifting the times first and finishing off with timing post processor so you don't get scene bleeds. Shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes per episode.
