I STILL don;t know whether to refund my pre-order or not. I'm in the mood for a city builder but don't know its a a better idea to just play CS1.
Yea I don't need 120 fps from my city building games but somewhere around 60 is nice just for actual mouse interaction. I ended up refunding my GMG preorder since the window there was closing. I will rebuy it after some patches when it hits that same ~20% discount I was able to get it for.

Saw a, probably, Muslim person at the supermarket. Nice suit, green armband with golden writings. Is this a marriage thing ?
100% pure curiosity but I found nothing online.
Was curious, looked it up. If you search 'Islamic wedding armband' I get some pretty unique pictures. Does that look like the thing?

Scaling required smfdh
The thing is when I see screenshots of AW2, I don't get that 'pop' or 'wow' that I'd expect to warrant such requirements. Cyberpunk screenshots had that before its release.

The recommendations for the highest settings, with path tracing, are pretty unsurprising. Path Tracing is just completely different way of rendering, one that tries to simulate how light actually works much more carefully, it's essentially a turbo-boosted form of RT to be very informal. Look it up if you care about details, though. There are screenshots that Nvidia posted, a scene in a diner, that shows it pretty well. You get perfect shadows on even tiny objects, light and reflections on every object that simulate far more realistically how something should look like, instead of the all little tricks that rasterised rendering uses instead. Whether one things this is worth it or not, it's extremely cutting edge tech that naturally demands incredibly high-end cards.

For the non-RT part, I think the steep cut-off of older cards might be due to the game currently requiring support for mesh shaders, which require DX12 Ultimate. Perhaps the game will still ship with another rendering path that supports older cards too, the engineer at Remedy that tweeted about that detail deleted their post and did briefly mention that there are parts of such a rendering path, but nothing completed. Overall, Remedy seems to have developed this game around some pretty new cutting edge tech, and I respect that. It does seem unwise sales wise to not also try to support older machines, but that would likely increase the amount of work by a lot, especially at this stage. I guess since the game is on Epic only, it's all kinda of an academic point anyway and by the time it drops on Steam, they might even support older cards or it not be necessary since nearly every GPU will then support it anyway.

That's BG3 wrapped up. I do think Act 3 still has some issues, but primarily the very end felt VERY unfinished. You get railroaded pretty hard, some wonky animations and nonsensical cutscenes, and it actually just skipped a bunch of the endings for characters I'd completed quests for (I'm wondering if I would have gotten them if I chose a different reactions to one characters ending). Basically everything from the Morphic pool on felt kinda meh to me, and a notable dip in quality of writing and decision making. A ton of games try to over complicate things for their end-of-game theatrics when just carrying on would be fine, it just is extra annoying here.

Obviously that ~1 hour doesn't really detract from the mostly great ~120 leading up to that point, but I do feel like the farther in the game I got the less I felt like there was a need to play through it again - most of the more interesting, dynamic choices where I wondered what the other options would lead to were in Act 1, in Act 3 it felt like all the choices I didn't pick were clearly just "evil" all the way down, which I just don't think I have any interest in poking with.

Also, partway through Act 3 I got tired of constantly going back to camp to swap out characters for their quests so I did the expanded party limit mod and it made the game SO much more interesting and fun, including in combat. I wonder if they originally intended for it to be a customizable setting but scrapped it, because it mostly just works great.

I thought I was right next to the end boss in Lies of P but it seems there are still some content left.
I just beat Laxasia, I had mostly of her first phase nailed down and my issues were mostly with the second phase and I tried different weapons but in the end my trust Big Pipe Wrench Head with the Police Baton handle carried me through this fight.

Now that I've been playing more of NSF Undercover, it's not as bad as I thought, but it's still not great.

The more you play the game the more "skills" that you unlock and I guess that get added to regular car stats? The game mentions something about Wheelman but I was not sure if that's you overall or your car.

I'm still using the Ford Escort Cosworth , enough enough everyone else is using Nissan GTR, Lamborghinis, and Supras.

I'm seriously considering to make Alan Wake 2 my final PC game purchase for a big while. sell my computer and buy a Steam Deck for Christmas.
Just to make sure, I'm reacting to the getting Alan Wake 2 part, not that you need to sell your PC.

Making my way through Act 3, and I think it's already easy to tell that Larian had to rush things again there. Seems to be a consistent thing with their games, super front heavy and then a rush to somewhat complete ending. Then again, I always have so much fun leading up to the ending, it's hard to complain too much.

I so want to buy the Division games on steam and don't know why... it would be the third time I would buy them lol
I would buy them if they were more active. I liked Div1 because of all the people running around etc. Div2 seems to be dead.

Edit: Well, not that bad, just checked.

Not really. His armband was far more plain, your basic cloth armband, no fancy angles. Metallic green. Golden writings but I didn’t get to observe them closely.
At first, and sue me for assuming nonsense out of the bat, I thought it was a Support Palestine thing.
Then my two neurons (and curiosity) activated and points were piled up to make me strongly suspect a wedding tradition.

The nice fucking tan suit.
His companion who was in another nice fucking black suit with some golden trinket on the front pocket.
A marriage happening one tram stop away.
Not an ‘occidental’ music.
Internet says green is very important to Islam.

It might even have been one of the bride as my (super unhelpful) google search gave me a site which seemed to point to the two green armband beings for the couple. Not confirmed.
Could be a Turkish tradition, but again, unreliable random site.

Again, it’s a curiosity thing, I don’t care about that sort of things. People wear what they want.
It’s more like when I hear some foreign language spoken next to me but obviously can’t ask which it is to not pass as a xenophobe.

I am excited for Yakuza Gaiden in 2 weeks to get ready for Yakuza 8 in January.

That makes 3 Yakuza games within 11 months with Ishin.

It it wasn't for the fact that i binge played Yakuza 1 through 5 shortly after 5's western release was announced, i could not see how someone can still keep up with these releases.

As someone with a steam deck i would advise against it, i’ll elaborate later tonight when i have more time as to why so if my reasons don’t apply to your situation you can make your own decisions

I'm excited for Yakuza too. I played all games in the series (including judgement) but I couldn't get into Ishin. I dropped it after 5-6 hours tops... I don't know why. Something felt archaic (and I enjoyed Yakuza 3). Samurai Ondo with Majima is fire, though.

I noticed that being around a computer after work enables some bad habits I’m trying to get rid off. That and I’m sick of games I want to play not working properly.

I've been playing for a while on PS5 but what the hell have Insomiac done with Peter Parker and Miles Morales faces on Spider-Man 2?. They're even worst than squenix Marvel's Avengers random average faces. And it's even weirder when the memories flashback from the previous games they have the original faces.
The faces in the game are generally awful and I'm not sure what happened. They did MJ super dirty in this game, they can claim they're using the same models and tech as before all they want but there is a clear difference in quality here. Also some of the NPC faces are hilariously bad and some of the characters like the school principal look rough too.

Is it me or there is not that much buzz around Spider-Man 2? At least way less than for some other big games released this year.
PlayStation on X: "Great news, Spidey fans -- Marvel's #SpiderMan2PS5 has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours. Thanks for making this a high-flying launch! https://t.co/k3KdioW6x7" / X (twitter.com)

Don't mean to call you out like that just didn't want to reply until they posted numbers. I was gonig to say it's probably going to be the 2nd highest selling game of the year behind zelda.

Fanboys who claimed Sony is killing Playstation because they’re porting their old games to pc gonna have a real one coping today. God of War Ragnarok being the biggest opening week ever for a PS title, Horizon Forbidden West outpacing the original, and now Spider-Man 2 selling 2.5m in a day? They cant even use the cross gen excuse this time lol

Who could have saw this coming

Hopefully in a year or two we get BG3 enhanced edition with a bunch of restored content for act 3 including the upper city, the halfling party member they cut that was datamined, better final battles (since the 2 final battles suck), expanded endings and an increased level cap

I got 100% in Mario Wonder. Awesome game, but I don't know if I'd agree with online chatter that it's the best platformer in over 20 years. Not at least while DKC Tropical Freeze exists.

While those are huge numbers, I still think it's funny it only sold 500k more in its first hour than Sons of the Forest, a game I have barely read about in online circles. Spidey will probably wind up selling more in the long run, but still.

The only metrics worth a damn will be the total sales and word of mouth. Fucking The Division 2 was Ubisoft fastest selling game, and look where we are.

In other words, clearly not enough people played Celeste.
jfc, Nintendo fanboys truly are the vegans of the gaming world.
I've played Celeste. I'd play SMB Wonder over Celeste any day. I'd take it over any other pixel perfect precision platformer.

That said, I'm not done with Wonder yet, only 100% three worlds.

Tropical Freeze truly is a contender tho, and underrated.

I used Celeste as an example. I adore that game but I can easily find others as good as it.
My point still stands though, every new nintendo release we enter the "best game ever" cycle until then next one releases and we restart it. It's impossible to have a level-headed conversation.
PS: I'm not arguing about the quality of the new mario game, it seems to be quite good.

just finished the game right now
City and in-game animations looks awesome at every level, but yep, what have they done with everyone's faces have no sense.
It's hard to get into story, I don't know if they used motion capture with this game but seems they don't, they look very old gen faces, lack of emotions and expressions. I said this before with Avengers game but if they cannot license some faces they could have used the comicbook ones, like Team Ninja did with with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
At least they would be recognizable. None of them have charisma or resemble, not only the characters in the movies, neither their image in the comics. I cannot understand a big company like Sony gave green light for that.

I really don't see an increased level cap coming. At that point you are basically designing half of a new game. And I think with a game this size, the usual Enhanced Edition stuff might also not be super feasible anymore. This stuff was easier when they didn't push for such incredibly high fidelity in all things (compared to the old games).

Cyberpunk 2077 seems pretty great now but it still clearly has a lot of technical issues. If I drive somewhere mildly distant, rather than fast travel, after about 20 seconds there's just no people, no cars, no anything because the game can't keep up I guess. Even when just walking around, I'll look at something, turn around, and look back and sometimes there's like way more stuff or just completely different stuff.

The game looks fantastic maxed out but even with a 4090 I struggle to get above 4k 40 FPS with high-ish settings (which, yes, 4k is a lot, but 4k 60fps is exactly why I wanted to spend a bunch of my money on a 4090). It definitely feels like DLSS is mandatory, without it I can't even break 20 FPS in the benchmark.

All that said, I'm still having fun. The technical issues are more like immersion-breaking than actually impactful to gameplay, unlike Jedi Survivor where the terribleness of everything really impacted the second-to-second gameplay.

Hehe no problem :D I was just commenting that i didn't see that much buzz in my circles. I expected good sales so it is nice to see that it is doing well.

also spending half time at the office and half time at the construction site is exciting but i am so tired XD But at least i am learning a lot and where to pay more attention when designing buildings in the future. And construction workers on site are funny :D

I think Celeste is a terrible comparison for Mario Wonder. Celeste has an actual story and yes the game is tough as nails. Mario Wonder is basically allergic to anything other than a basic premise, and is purely about trying out a bunch of weird different things in light platforming.

One isn't inherently better than the other, but it's like comparing a book aimed at younger readers to something aimed at adults. They are just different things. Both can be good in their own right, they are just their own things.

That said, of course the latest Nintendo release will get "best game ever" stuff. No one makes games like these. So the only comparisons are other Nintendo stuff. I can't agree that Mario Wonder is GOAT tier, but I am having fun with it so far between sections of BG3.
