I like how they rushed to alleviate fears about the console editions saying they worked hard on them, but nothing about PC
They know that the bulk of their PC audience will play the game when they bring it to Steam in five years so they have plenty of time to optimize until then. Good luck to the poor souls who will go in day one on EGS.

Is it me or there is not that much buzz around Spider-Man 2? At least way less than for some other big games released this year.
Adidas announced Spiderman 2 shoes that were being sold for over $220 USD MSRP a few days ago and those are now sold out. Wheeties (cereal company) announced a 2 pack of Spiderman 2 themed cereal boxes for $75 for the pair inside of an acrylic cases and a digital comic book. I'm sure other stuff was also announced as well.

Am I being prodigiously stupid or is there actually no way to browse or search your games library on epicgames.com?!

I'm talking about the website, not the client (don't have or want it); the closest thing I found is the list of "transactions"*, which is awful and not searchable.

* It still counts if it's 0€ :)
I think so, you just have that list of transactions. If you have Heroic installed (it can manage a number of websites, like GOG too in addition to Epic) it's easy to get an overview.
Well at least Alan Wake 2 doesn't have Denuvo :SmugKawakami:
What's the point, it's on EGS, so unless you are some kind of Alan Wake freak like me, who's going to buy it?

I expect AW2 to do absolutely awful saleswise everywhere, especially on PC.

Still, Im just happy the game exists at all.
Yeah I’m sure Alan Wake 2 is going to be a huge bomb.

I got a feeling Epic will be abandoning their publishing label after the first few games don’t light the world on fire, especially after the cut backs they recently did.

I mean when BG3 was out you literally couldn't hide from people talking about it for weeks. It was jumping out for me on Twitter and YouTube. Comparing that to Spider-Man that was supposed to be more mainstream release and i don't see that much buzz and talk about he game. i am sure that it will sell well but for a such a huge IP i kinda expected more buzz.

Also today i retired my last old 500GB HDD (replaced it with new 2TB HDD XD) and went on data purging spree. After few hours i am still barely scratching surface and i deleted 100s of GB of data XD Last time i felt this burned out was like 10 years ago (or more) when i decided to organize like 10K emails on my Gmail XD

It kind of boggles my mind that a storefront website would not provide a convenient way to see what you own on it. I'm not angry or even annoyed --- apart from a single game (Mortal Shell) I never bought anything there, nor did I ever install any of the free games I got, I just don't care enough about EGS to be angry --- I'm simply perplexed that such a half-assed business could exist in the real world :huhblob:

If you have Heroic installed (it can manage a number of websites, like GOG too in addition to Epic) it's easy to get an overview.
Heroic is a nice recommendation, but I don't necessarily buy games from my gaming PC, so I was looking for a web-only way to check whether I already own a game somewhere. Very easy to check on GOG and Steam's websites. Oh well.

Let's see;

  • EGS exclusive
  • Insane system requirements
  • No physical console edition
  • Released in a month stuffed with long awaited AAA releases
  • Limited fanbase because of earlier exclusive deals
  • Epic's reputation tanked the past few weeks

Yeah, AW2 won't sell very well. And for their next game, Remedy will have to make another shitty exclusive deal because they don't have (enough) financial reserves. This really sucks.

So was Tears of the Kingdom, but that didn't stop there from being a lot of talk about it.

I have noticed that Spider-Man 2 isn't being talked about as much as other big releases this year, especially ones that got over 90 on Metacritic. But that could just be my personal biases - I've become very good at filtering out games that don't interest me, and Spider-Man ticks pretty much every tick box for a game I don't want to play.
  • Marvel
  • open world
  • wide as a canyon, deep as a puddle game design
  • the existential dread you feel when you open the in-game map and see 10,000 icons
  • lots of more interesting games released this year
I see Spider-Man 2 and games like it, and my filter instantly switches on.

I DID IT! After 25 hours I have finally defeated the final boss of the Fights in Tight Spaces DLC. Whew what an unfair fight haha. The final stage even requires players to fight them alongside the final boss from the base game. Pure evil!

Control 2 is already a fixed deal, I believe again with the same publisher as the first game. It was their publishers choice to take Epics money, and assuming that epic isn't willing to pay the second time, then we will likely see Control 2 release on Steam day one.
As for any future sequel to Alan Wake 2, well, yeah, that's going to be a long stretch, but it's already a miracle that this game will see the light of day (or the shadow of the dark place, I guess)

This is sad to read. The main game was very balanced imo, except for the final battle which required more luck than skills to win. This definitely demotivates me to buy the dlc.

I think even in 2023 there still aren't enough PS5s to support such a release compared to how many PS4s were sold when Spiderman 1 came out. Many PS5 games end up having "tepid" releases even if in the long run they end up selling multiple millions
That, and obviously the insane next gen prices for games

FFXIV Fanfest in London this weekend. So slightly extended trailer:-

The key announcements:-

  • New Job class is the Viper, dual wielding melee class that can combine the sword into a darth maul type blade.
  • New limited class (like the Blue Mage)
  • Next alliance raid (24 man content) is the Echoes of Vana'diel based around FFXI content.
  • The collab for FFXVI has been announced (worth it for the Torgal mount alone).
  • Apparently there will be more content in the next expansion like Bozja/Eureka.
While the keynote was a bit dull there is a lot of stuff there to look forward to for me.

Forspoken makes a lot more sense now based off what is happening in Japan.

This is already know but things are not looking that good for Japan, if there is a AAA Japanese games then it has to HAVE a global release, because of the rise of game development and just how the number of people in Japan is decreasing (mobile is still making a ton of money )

They are hiring more foreign talent to work on certain titles.

Right now it seems that there are growing pains, to be able to make a games that not only appeal to Japanese players but also to others around the world. You could just say, keep making them the way that they currently are, they are still selling and people like them and stuff like that, and in a way yes but now. Other wise you might end up like what Sony did, they had Japanese games and they did appeal to people and even won awards and stuff but the sales were just not there. Of course other companies are not going to those extremes (mainly because they couldn't even if they wanted to and it also making no sense).

So there needs to be a balance, Something that can appeal to Japanese audience but not only to a Japanese audience but also to others, I mean look at Yakuza 8, that game is not even taking place in Japan (from my understanding), it's taking place in the US, you even have some American actors that look like they are going to have a decent sized part in the game.

Forspoken I don't think did that well since it tried to much to appeal to what it thought western fans wanted???? The whole idea of some one getting Isekied into a Fantasy video game, is not entirely new, didn't SE basically do that for FF Origin? Were Jack was Isekaied into the world of Final Fantasy and set in motion the events that would eventually lead to FF1?

I think that the stuff that Capcom does, and what Kojima do are more of what others should aim for, those games do seem to have a world wide global appeal and sale very well on top of that. Yakuza and Persona adding more language options is something that also seems to be headed in the right direction, some people prefer to play games with JP audio but that not every one and adding at least English can make it easier for some to follow the story.

Nintendo is pretty great at making games that appeal to a global audience that also sells well. Pokemon has it's issues but from my understanding, when GameFreak is making those games, when making the human characters they make them have more of a global appeal.

Compare the Human characters from Yokai Watch and Pokemon, Pokemon characters are more cool looking, since Yokai Watch only really had to worry about Japan.

Looking more into it, I don't think Level 5 charter design are meant for a world wide release (Imazuna),

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk, next I will be posting a thing about PC gaming in Japan (interviews), a big portion is a lot of stuff that people already know.

By the way it seems that the place where the Steam Deck is selling best is actually in Japan, this explains the new Komodo office. Per Lawrance and Pierre

----------------------------------------------

Konami seems to be one of those companies that don't feel the same way as others about having to as heavily rely on the rest of the world compared to other companies.

It is still skill-based as I beat it on purist with draft mode, but the whole fight does require defense cards (1 root in place would be the bare minimum), and likely easier if you have a few new gun cards or throw. Going to see if I can beat them without the gun cards next time.

Somehow Viper just reminds me of what Rogue/Ninja started as before all the changes and reworks. Especially with the blade poisoning.

Either way, it's wild they went with two DPS classes for the next expac, queues are gonna be agonizing. They really shoulda went with a Tank + DPS. I'd have loved to see Rune Knight as a Tank Class, not that i play anymore but yeah...

I think I will be maining Warrior through the next expansion instead of my Dancer just to mitigate the queue times.

If you're looking on a PC centric forum for hype about a Playstation exclusive sequel title AKA Spiderman 2 and finding little to none and being surprised uhhh

I think it's less so MC and more social media in general, where... yeah, Spiderman 2 is not particularly present.

Many reasons for that, between the PS5 being less common than the PS4 at the time, being the third game in a 5 year old franchise with burn in setting in since it's almost 1 for 1 with many other similar games, but also issues with platforms like twitter slowly sinking and its public spreading around which means less centralizing posts... and that it's also just really safe so it doesn't get the meme potential of Starfield or other "negative" attention.

Plus it is immediately in competition for the mainstream eyes with Super Mario Wonder the same day.

They confirmed a second DPS as well? That's gonna be a bit too much considering they also added Reaper last time

I thought it was just one dps. Other was a limited dps.
There's gonna be the announced DPS (Viper), a new limited job (like Blue Mage, probably Beast Master) and another normal job that's gonna be revealed in january. I only didn't know it was confirmed as another DPS

Yeah, the last role is supposed to be a caster DPS, heavily believed to be a green mage big hint at the end of the 6.5 story with a green clover in one of the letters.

The problem is the DPS roles are the most popular. I enjoy tanking but I always default to my Dancer as it is more comfortable and a bit easier. It's a shame but I suppose they are playing to the audience.

I have a feeling there might gonna be a price error with MGS Master Collection on release. I keep seeing it flagged at historycal lows of 16€, only to clarify in the store page it's about a single game of the trilogy. I can see some stores mistakingly sending codes for the trilogy instead of a single game:evilblob:

I STILL don;t know whether to refund my pre-order or not. I'm in the mood for a city builder but don't know its a a better idea to just play CS1.

fantomena I think you mentioned wanting to play AW2 with a 1080? Forget it, it won't work (at least in theory) Not because the card is not powerful enough, but because it lacks DX12 features.
really looking forward to re-visiting Alan Wake 2 later down the line when I have a more powerful PC. With my 2080TI, I'm not expecting more than 1440p with DLSS and no RT.
It is always amazing to see Remedy push graphics in their games. Ray Tracing in Control was already pretty amazing, so it's no surprise that they are already pushing Path Tracing on PC for their next game.
Ironically, the game releasing on EGS first will likely mean that more PC players will be able to experience the game with path tracing in the future when and if it drops on Steam.
