I don't care if it has been sanitized for Steam or not, anything that maxes out the Straight Lolicon tag (and yes, 3.0 is as high as you can get on VNDB) can fuck off into the sun.
Yup. Even if the clean version is on Steam, it's funding the non clean version of gross shit elsewhere.

I'm really surprised that Suika Game was never ported from the Switch to PC/Steam (or any other platform):
There are a couple of clones, tho.
Also, it's a bit funny how that game is a popular game (sold over 2 million) that ripped off a popular Chinese game and the subgenre is filled with knockoffs on other platforms, but there's no major outcry about it.
It didn't happen to a beloved company

If this is true then Palworld has over 4 million concurrent players on Xbox + PC.

EDIT: No 9 million announcement yet, so game is officially dead. Pack it up everyone, it's over :(
I found out that not all of this is true and the person's other tweets paint them as a major Microsoft fanboy.

Palworld has become one of the most popular games recently, but it seems to have upset a lot of Pokemon fans. A few days ago, a modder said they had proof that Palworld copied 3D models from previous Pokemon games. And now, the modder has confessed that they made it all up.

They didn't "add" it, though. It was in the EA release version.

That's just the normal "pet" function, and the pet function is different depending on the Pal.
It is quite cool, though. They are ticking all the boxes on how to make little things like this. While other developers wouldn't even think about this and would "need" player feedback to even imagine it.

Kotaku seems to have a decent opinion piece about the layoffs:

Blue Check accounts obfuscated concerns over such an aggressive consolidation of workers and IP by espousing recycled Xbox talking points and stitched-together notions of community, as understood by its relationship to explicit and unwavering support for Xbox. “But Xbox needs a way to regain a share of the console market!” “This will actually lead to more job security and creative freedom!” “IMAGINE THE HEXEN REBOOT!”. A world was created in which the very idea of being opposed to the deal was to be effectively opposed to fun, too economically left-leaning, or just a hater. It’s the kind of hearts and minds campaign that would deserve to be dissected for its effectiveness if it weren’t so existentially terrifying.

First, do these people think Microsoft will make the games not "woke?"

Second, what kind of person thinks refusing to crunch on projects is a negative?

Third, I looked up Sweet Baby, Inc and saw that Valve is one of their clients: https://sweetbabyinc.com/projects/

I wonder if they are helping on Neon Prime? Or some other project that we don't know about like the next Half-Life? If they worked on Alyx then they would have a tile for it under the Announced Projects section.

You spend 69 billion to acquire talent and IP.

Then you gut the talent that made these companies worth so much to begin with

...:huhblob:

...profit...??

Its just a legal grift to poach talent from another company to help yourself while destroying competition and your own ability to expand.

This industry can really be stupid and ungrateful sometimes.

I mean if there are rumors of them going full third party then why not use all these employees to port games to Playstation and Switch? Why let go of so much talent when this industry continues to set growth and profit records every year.

So little of this stuff makes sense and in the end it feels like Microsoft doesn't actually want to become the Netflix of gaming.....instead it will be like Peacock or some other shitty stagnant service.

Why are people blaming the merger for these layoffs? Have they not noticed all the other layoffs happening in gaming companies which didn't go through mergers and acquisitions? Maybe there's something else going on that is causing all these problems in the gaming, tech and all other industries across the globe?

What happens if I plug a PCIE 4 GPU into my PCIE 3 Mobo? It will be throttled somehow? Unable to use all of it's TF?

Companies, especially in tech over-hired during the Covid boom and WFH rush. Most layoffs this year and last are a result of that. Things are getting back to normal, corporations are not charities they're not gonna keep people on if they don't need them. Mergers always result in cutting of redundant positions as well.

Both of these combined...

M&As typically get rid of the top management of the company being acquired. That happened here. Other than that, there can be layoffs in redundant positions like you said. So for example if MS and ABK both already had a director of esports, MS might decide they don't need two people for that particular role.

That being said, I still wouldn't directly attribute this round of layoffs to the merger for a couple of reasons. First, MS has shown that they are fairly hands off with their previous acquisition of Bethesda over the last couple of years. Bethesda has mostly been allowed to operate as it's own entity under Xbox. They still perform all their publishing duties and all their PR and stuff independent of MS. There's no reason to think MS wouldn't have behaved similarly towards ABK if there hadn't been other extenuating economic circumstances. The second reason is that this round of job cuts (1900) is way too high a number to just be removal of redundancies. These are large scale cuts across all companies and departments and I'd be very surprised if MS made these decisions in a hurry. This took a while to set up, and probably with consultation from departing AKB executives. This is not them just cutting extra jobs, this is them trying to save money. They've cut jobs from their own Xbox departments as well, which has nothing to do with the merger at all. Like every other company they are trying to cut back costs in an age of high interest rates.

CLE just announced their PC version of Ys X: Nordics (of course, only Chinese/Korean are supported), but what's interesting about it is that it's powered by DirectX 12 and supports Intel XeSS upscaling.

I thought Falcom's new engine didn't support upscaling, but I guess that has changed now.

I asked CroTeam if they can make reflections better for Talos 2 (they use RT reflections in very limited way and most reflections are SS and culling is so obvious that is distracting) and they said nope. I kinda don't get it, UE5 is built for RT and switching to full RT reflections should be easy enough. Oh well

Even if the layoffs had happened without the merger, firing people after they had to relocate is entirely on MS.

These are both just the Cloud Leopard versions, so no English support. And I'm not sure what the point even is of this Kai release. It's based on the PS4 version, however the XSEED release that's already on PC is a huge upgrade over the original Vita version, and I'm not sure what technical changes Falcom really did here. Gamastura mentions
that flash moves similar to Ys VIII have been "brought over", but Memories of Celceta already had those. I'd know, I played and finished it on Steam.

I know that older games don't have motion vectors, but this is the first I've heard this about the new engine. It's also possible that Nordics, which is their newest game, added support for motion vectors. It's Falcom's own engine, they can add stuff to it.

Don't celebrate too much now Yakuza fans...

Revenge will be had...

Metaphor will be a critical darling, but it probably won't be a massive hit.

If there's one Atlus game that has a chance of dethroning Yakuza 8, it's Persona 3 Reload, but I'm iffy about that. It might be my personal bias, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of hype for it. It feels like it's trying too hard to emulate what made P5 successful instead of being its own thing.

Do people care about ATLUS games that aren't Persona? Soul Hackers 2 sure bombed quick
Shin Megami Tensei V undeservedly sold a million copies.

The reason Celceta Kai is getting ported is because its for Korean/Chinese audiences. The original XSEED port only supports English and Japanese, Stupid I know and it just makes things overly complicated but thats how Falcom handles the localization rights.

Maybe Falcom gets paid more this way? Can't see any other reason to go this route.

maybe they're just as schizophrenic as SE when it comes of this stuff
Or they're not simply not organized as far as this stuff goes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if P3 Reload doesn’t hit P5’s CCU. I don’t think it’s gonna surpass Infinite Wealth’s.

It’s a remake people wanted, but I think more people would’ve preferred Persona 6. It’ll be successful, but not a series high. Would like to be proven wrong there.

I think Sega knows this, or they wouldn’t be releasing both games one week apart.

IIRC Spacewar is the app that pirates use to bypass Steam's DRM. (I assume) Palworld is doing so well it's even setting Steam piracy records.

middle age cast > teen cast

The new Persona gacha game has a middle aged housewife as a party member. Strikers also had Zenkichi. I don't think a mainline game will ever have a fully adult cast (if only for the fact the scheduling conflicts with the calendar system would be a nightmare) but I still like they're dipping their toes into the water with adult party members.
