I guess selling asset flips is very profitable despite all backlash.
Relevant, engaged audiences who will patiently wait for your game to become free.
meh more ubisoft shite (honestly can't recall last time I bought a game from them)
No First Run tag either. Guessing Epic opened their wallets for this one (and probably Assassin's Creed Red as well).
It's unknown. I would assume that they had a long term contract that ran out some time last year, hence Avatar being in the First Run program. The exclusivity contract may have been renewed, but there might not be a blanket agreement for all future Ubi games either as it is rumored there is a Prince of Persria roguelike being revealed tomorrow that's launching in Steam early access first.meh more ubisoft shite (honestly can't recall last time I bought a game from them)
don't they still have an exclusive deal together? or did that expire?
You get epic rewards from Fortnite purchases btw lol
Just skimming it right now, but this popped out. In ~10 months (the GDC talk was in March) 3 million more people have made a purchase on EGS than bought Palworld on Steam in a month.
Or they just couldn't care less given the amount of purchases Avatar got. Cause' Epic ain't paying anything, that's for sure.No First Run tag either. Guessing Epic opened their wallets for this one (and probably Assassin's Creed Red as well).
Also Steam Trading Cards is kinda rewards like tooIt's not even the first program of it's kind on PC; Ubisoft has or had something similar on Uplay.
Bingo. FN makes up a large portion of that purchaser pool and another chunk is taken by Rocket League, Fall Guys and Mihoyo titles. You get epic rewards from Fortnite purchases btw lol
First Run tag got applied today, so, easy to say EGS worker got the day off hehe

As a matter of fact, if they announce Mirage for May this month, then the 6 month rule will be applied because Settlers was 12 months but Motorfest was 6.Good catch. We'll see what Ubi's plans are with Avatar. If they put it on Steam in June then yeah they're going to be 6 month exclusives from here on out.
What Epic wants from Google:
- No more telling carriers and phone makers where they can’t (or must) put app stores on their phones
- No more sharing Google Play revenues with carriers or phone makers
- No more agreements with terms that might disincentivize other companies from carrying competing app stores
- No more Android app exclusivity deals or most-favored-nation clauses that require devs to offer the same prices, release dates, and content on Google Play as other platforms
- Downloading apps from third-party stores needs to be as easy as downloading from Google Play with no additional steps, warnings, or friction save a single tap to sideload them — but Google can block malware and apps that haven’t been notarized
- Equal access to Android APIs for all developers, no tying them to Google Play Store
- No tying access to other Google products and services to use of Google Play
- Google to allow third-party app stores access to Google Play’s catalog of apps for six years and let users make those third-party app stores perform their app updates
- Google to allow third-party app stores into Google Play for six years, with no fees
- No more anti-steering restrictions or incentives whatsoever; app developers would be free to tell users how to pay elsewhere, for less, without paying Google more than Google itself pays to handle an app transaction
- No more forcing developers to use Google Play Billing, or “User Choice Billing,” instead free rein to use alternative payment solutions
- No discrimination or retaliation against any app or developer for choosing to use alternative billing systems
- Google to create a compliance committee with at least three members of the company’s board of directors who are not and were not Google employees, with a compliance officer who’d tell the court every year if Google’s complying with the injunction
heh

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Pots and kettles spring to mind.
Not wanting to be outdone by Roblox's child labor, Epic wants toSoon after this conversation with Corazza at GDC last month, Eurogamer also spoke with Epic Games' executive vice president Saxs Persson, who looks after Fortnite's various UGC initiatives such as Lego Fortnite, Unreal Editor For Fortnite (UEFN), and Fortnite Creators. Persson spoke openly about the "gatekeeping" he felt was "at the heart of why the industry is in a rut", but he also spoke a little about Epic's policy when it comes to publishing and monetising the creations of children.
"We are 18-plus," he emphasised. But what does Epic think about monetising under-18s' creations, and paying out to creators? "Well, in regions where it is permissible, yes we should lower that age. But we started at something that is like, unilaterally: this is professional labour. People have signed up for professional payments.
"There's a lot of things to really think deeply about," Persson continued, "like how you want to fund this ecosystem of creators, and how you make creativity available to all. It's a goal of ours, obviously. There's a lot of Lego creators that want to still express themselves, [who] can't right now because of how these rules work, and we should work to mindfully change that, where we can. But right now we're 18-plus."
Epic deserves nothing more than that, but I am assuming that a few actual humans did buy the game on EGS and for those customers, abandoning the game is a very shitty move. The developers should support all versions.
"What the Golf?" was a one year exclusive on EGS and it has supposedly not had an update since the Steam version was released. The Steam version has had several updates that has added a lot of content.
I like the post saying Epic should remove their game from EGS. Those devs will be hurting without the tens of dollars of income.

I think It was Mike Rose (of No more robots) that said that in some games the effort of updating a non steam version had a higher cost than the money they got.Epic deserves nothing more than that, but I am assuming that a few actual humans did buy the game on EGS and for those customers, abandoning the game is a very shitty move. Yeah HL probably did 500k-600k.While the data was from 4 month ago, I don't think the sales have moved much from then to now.
This game was in the top 5 of the EGS (epic kind of obscures it cause it's money and engagement, whatever they mean by that). That tells you how "bad" the rest of the games did there (considering how top heavy all stores/platforms are).Which leads me to believe that HL, sold less (or very close) copies than the launch day CCU on steam.
Keep in mind the EGS version was also given away for free with AMD gpus and cpus. Thats where I got it.Dead Island 2 – 1 Year Anniversary!

Assuming the platform percentages match up to the number of players:
~1.26 million copies sold on EGS.
~2.94 million copies sold on PS.
~2.8 million users on Xbox (on Game Pass).
I'm kind of skeptical as I would have guessed Xbox would be higher due to Game Pass, but still something to chew on.
Wow, it has less players than rocket league on steam (where you can't even get the game anymore) Heck, even cookie clicker has more players.
I think the Mihoyo approach to making multiple massive separate GaaS games works better tbh. (They are soon going to have a unified launcher containing all their games so it will be even easier to jump around, while still being distinctly separate in their gameplay/rewards structure.)Donald Mustard was one of the top people that worked on Fortnite until last year. It looks like he and Tim had a disagreement about the future of the game and he left. Epic pivoted from Fortnite events to the metaverse, and frankly at this point it is not paying off. Of course they can always recover, but right now most people don't want to play half baked game modes in their battle royale.
If Epic offered, they absolutely would as the terms are highly favorable to the developer. But in this high interest rate environment, will Epic bother? They're all in with the metaverse right now.I'm curious if Remedy will partner with Epic again for their upcoming games...
Alan Wake 2 Still Hasn't Earned Back Its Budget | TechRaptor
Remedy has released its financial statement for the first quarter of 2024, and despite strong sales, Alan Wake 2 has yet to recoup its development costs.techraptor.net
Yeah unless one of the other games Epic is publishing is a huge hit I have my doubt the Epic publishing label will survive much longer. If Epic offered, they absolutely would as the terms are highly favorable to the developer. Alan Wake Remastered crawled to profitability after two years. AW2 will get there eventually, but it may take DLC releases and future Game Pass/Playstation Plus deals for it to happen.
Read it as you want. Will Alan Wake 2 release on Steam or any other storefront?
“That’s a speculation we cannot do. At the moment AW2 is on EGS, we hope PC gamers find it there”
Exactly this, that was my reading but as usual, it's interesting to share this stuffA Steam version is inevitable, but you're looking at a timeframe of years and not months.. Even the EGS head honcho said it would only be exclusive for "a long time" and not permanent.
Remedy still owns the Alan Wake IP and Epic will give them publishing rights for AW2 at some point.
not in the same way, no. (likely?)Wonder if Remedy will be able to publish a GotY type version with all DLC or something like that on Steam but not the base version.
