Interesting. If you buy early access to Path of Exile 2 through the official website then sales tax is include automatically in your purchase. So the $30 package is $30. Also, you can get a key for the Steam version after you purchase it through the official website:

If you have purchased a key and/or have access granted for one PC game client (Stand-alone, Steam, or Epic), but wish to play on another game client, you will be able to do so by claiming a key to unlock access to that client. These are available at my-account/early-access and can be redeemed on the relevant platform's store. Please note these keys only unlock the client in your library, they do not on their own provide early access to your account.

As an example, if you purchase a Supporter Pack through the Path of Exile website, you will be able to claim a key to unlock the client in your Steam Library.

A friend of mine graciously gifted me a key for the game but apparently they've run out of Steam (and EGS) keys.

I also don't understand what they mean when they say that the Steam key won't provide early access to the game. So even if you activate it you won't be able to play on release day? I'm holding off on redeeming the key until I figure this out.

I think what they mean is that if someone gives you one of those keys then you only have access to the client, but you still need to buy early access to the full game by purchasing it through the official website or from Steam/EGS.

Are you sure about that? Because if you look at the different packs on the site... for $160 or higher the description says that the buyer gets extra early access keys to give away. And if you think about it, what would be the point of them giving a Steam key that gives a user access to the client without actually letting them play? And these keys aren't meant for the buyer of the pack... they're specifically meant to be given away and the site even says you can get access if you can get a friend to give you those keys.

My friend is saying he'll just gift me the game on Steam. Although technically he has to gift me a Steam digital card and then I'd have to buy it myself. In case some folks aren't aware, the developers drastically increased the regional pricing of the game in many countries a couple of days after pre-orders went up. Annoying for those of us who live in poor countries.

Thanks lashypoo :blobevening:

All these complaints recently about Chinese knock-off games, the biggest one being the Horizon like now. They kinda make me giggle a bit. How easily people forget just how much of modern games have their resource creation outsourced to China. Has no one sat through the credits of Horizon? It's like 2 minutes of Sony devs, and than a billion Chinese names.

"Even the grass looks the same?!" Well yeah... That grass was made in a Chinese render farm lol. This is just the proverbial chickens coming home to roost. Spends years and years paying Chinese devs to slave over asset creation, don't act so shocked when they start using those assets.

That's not even dipping into the fact that I think copy cats are fine. If someone can make a thing better than you, more interesting than you, more fun than you... Take the L.
I don't think most (casual?) gamers realize (or care) just how much outsourcing happens. Nor do they look at the credits.

One big exception I can think of in AAA space is Ubisoft, they have effectively brought outsourcing in-house. :toucan:
Why outsource your 'mass asset creation for cheap' to Lemon Sky in Malaysia when you can "outsource" your 'mass asset creation for cheap' to Ubisoft Chengdu in China or Ubisoft Pune in India.

December already! Thank you for creating the thread lashman

I'm thinking about buying Path of Exile 2 as I'm quite excited for the beta.

On other news I just did some quick math, I bought/acquired 68 games this year, and finished 18 of them! That's around 26,5% of games finished that I bought in 2024. :coffee-blob:

Blizzard should probably put Diablo IV into the choice bundle this month. But looking at its current price in the sale it probably won't happen. Not unless they want a lot of refunds lol.

Also I didn't know POE2 is 30$ for EA and won't be f2p until full release. I think that will hurts some of the concurrent peak records it would have broke. Still it should be a massive launch.

The game is currently 4th on the top wishlisted games list on Steam. It's going to be a colossal launch even if it's not free.

Speaking of which, it's time for another edition of the most important forum game that nobody cares about... Time to guess the CCU of a few upcoming releases. Specifically, Indiana Jones, Path of Exile 2 and Marvel Rivals.

My personal guesses are;
Indiana Jones - 10k (Don't think this one will be big)
Path of Exile 2 - 220k (I guessed this number before I knew that it was no. 4 on the top wishlisted games list so it's going to be quite wrong)
Marvel Rivals - 150k (Optimistic about this but POE2 will suppress it I feel)

My prediction is Indiana Jones 15k, POE2 350k, Marvel 80k.

Also did some more Steam reviews including the new Phantom Brave PC patch, Paradox's recent DLC, and more here. (More coffee photos in the article)

Is there one with optical in and supports two out?

There is one , the ST-01 Pro

I am tempted on Atom 2 Bundle - Shop JDS Labs but I dunno how to ship here to TW..lol
You might have a better chance of getting dac + amps from chinese brands known gor making equipment that very good measurable, like Topping (DX3 Pro+), or SMSL (DL 100), both are a dac + headphone amplifiers in a single unit.

I use a lower power amp + dac box that can be powered via usb-c from the computer, but still have very low distortion even close to its maximum output.. I don't own headphones with high impedance that need a big amount of power to be properly driven. i don't usually need to use more than half the power with a pair os sennheiser HD 6xx.

I personally use the topping dx1, but if you need the optical input, SMSL makes the DS100, which does have it.

All right, I know Indy is no longer as popular as it was, and I also agree the game doesn't have the best hope for success, and I also know Microsoft has been on a "roll" with poor marketin choices
But 10k? 15k? That number would be a super bomb. If that's where the expectations are for Great Circle then MachineGames is done for

Yeah I am expecting the game to bomb. I feel that the last 2 games Machine Games released were barely average (Wolf 2) and utterly mediocre (Young blood). The trailers and gameplay video they've released for this game look bad to me. Gamepass will pull away some sales. It's also coming at the end of a very busy and expensive season of gaming releases. POE2 and Marvel Rivals are releasing right on top of this game. Plus their marketing/advertising efforts don't seem particularly stellar and it's going to miss a major platform at launch.

It's a shame because we don't really get that many high budget first person shooters in a year but I do feel like the odds are stacked against Indy. I don't even think the IP is that weak or anything. I'm personally planning to try it on gamepass because I have zero faith it'll be worth the asking price on Steam.

I have never bought form aliexpress..I don't know which one to get TBH tho. I use my headphoens with 6.XMm (forgot the number) with an adapter down to 3 and optical to my soundbar...but I don't mind using the optical. My soundbar as one single RCA jack input so no idea what it is, its not a color I have seen before.

Mind you, I live in Taiwan.
