I'll be definitely using GamePass for Exodus, Outer Worlds, Phoenix Point and other Epic (not-so-)exclusives.
Is there any information about how Ms pays devs or publishers when their games hit game pass? Are they being paid for each download our hour played, or are they getting a fixed amount of money each month?

I want to make sure that Deep Silver and the Phoenix Point devs don't get a single cent from me. F*ck them.

Between the EGS deals and the Gamepass deals, do these games really need to sell any copy to be profitable?

No. In fact if your game doesnt sell a single copy Epic will pay you extra. So technically by waiting for the Steam release we’re helping developers more by making them eligible for a free additional paycheck from Epic.

Gears 5 is €70 in the Windows Store. Really curious what the price on Steam will be. AAA games are usually between €49.99 and €59.99 here in Europe.

Maybe that exclusivity deal Epic made with Annapurna is only for 2019? 12 minutes releases next year.

I like this timeline where MS is the good guy.

As much as I want Outer Worlds as part of my Steam collection, I'll just sub to game pass for it so I can play on launch. Same with Afterparty.

Good lord... Not to sound like a broken record, but Cyberpunk and Doom Eternal and Destiny 2 having shit regional pricing is just taking the piss.
I've given up on reasonable regional pricing from big publishers a long time ago. :negative-blob:

No more day 1 AAA for me, except Cyberpunk perhaps. I wouldn't be able to resist Cyberpunk.
Was just about to type the same thing about Doom including the sounding like a broken record part....

I mean, over here (Brazil) we are actually paying more than the US, $64.20... That's not how regional pricing is supposed to work :(
yeah ... pretty much all big publishers have already given up on regional pricing ... and it's only been getting worse and worse with each release ... right now at least 2 or 3 of them don't go below 40-50% lower prices in the poorest region (while volvo's recommendations are at around 74-78% lower for those regions), so .... yeah ....

Yeah. I'm wondering if the "store-wars" have actually given publishers the leeway to run a "Steam tax". They're now so confident that consumers would rather pay more for Steam versions, even in countries where low-salary can make US prices exorbitant, that they don't care about the lost-sales from overpricing. Which is directly contradictory to the lessons that Valve taught publishers years ago - lower the cost in poorer regions to negate piracy and get more sales. But perhaps the PC gaming market is now large enough that that lesson is no longer relevant, outside of, say, Russia and China.
that's capitalism for ya ... they always need to make more and more money, because earning the same amount you did the previous year is considered a failure ... so they have to squeeze more and more

yes ... wishlist it and wait 12 months for the egsclusivity to end

I just hope the Bamco stuff isn’t EGS locked for a year, I am mostly interested in their games and Cyberpunk.
it's not ... all Bamco games are coming to steam day one

Tales of Arise is confirmed for Steam. Ni No Kuni will definitely be Steam too. Elden Ring has a generic PC logo listed though. Hopefully thats not exclusive.
Iirc tales of arise has a generic pc logo as well but Iashy-kun is saying it’ll be on steam... if he’s just toying with my pure heart I’ll drown this forum in animu gifs!

Steam still checks the files of the games they host (for virus, trojans, ...), right?

There's a Chinese game that just launched that is an obviously bootleg/unauthorized title based on the Double Dragon series.

Since I'm a sucker for beat'em ups, and since this is cheap, I'm tempted to buy this unauthorized fan game (to add to the other Double Dragon games I already own on Steam) before the game is certainly removed.

Nice, I was wondering because of this

Hope Tim won’t sweep in at the last minute for both this and Elden Ring

No Japanese games have been announced as EGS exclusive (yet?), so I wouldn't worry about them. They're all coming to Steam.
apparently KH3 will be egsclusive

but, like i said, all Bamco games are definitely coming to steam

Considering how much the KH team jacked off Epic at GDC im expecting it and FFVII to go egs. Good thing im too impatient and I preordered it on ps4 in 2013!

The Kingdom of Beer and Porn
twitter.com
trailer:

+ some devolver weirdness:

Coming to PlayStation 4 and PC in 2020!

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout flings hordes of contestants together online in a mad dash through round after round of escalating chaos until one victor remains! Battle bizarre obstacles, shove through unruly competitors, and overcome the unbending laws of physics to avoid both humiliation and elimination. Leave your dignity at the door and prepare for hilarious failure in your quest for the crown!

Devolver Bootleg contains eight original rip-offs of Devolver Digital games including:

Enter The Gun Dungeon
Imagine a dungeon crawler but instead of swords it’s guns. But also everything is made out of guns and bullets and stuff. Like, everything.

Hotline Milwaukee
Brutal, fast-paced, stealth action and a whole lot of blood. From your garbage person apartment in historically interesting and relevant Milwaukee, pick up the phone, and answer the call--of murder. Follow instructions and follow the stairs deeper and deeper into the mysterious basement. Where does it go? Who are you?

Ape Out Jr.
Escape out of ape prison in this classic arcade-style platformer where you play as an orange gorilla who will kill everyone so he can to see his dad again. Grab unsuspecting guards to use as weapons and shields in this completely original idea set to an interpretive chiptune jazz drummer soundtrack. Please, Ape Out was my father’s name.

Shootyboots
It’s the never-ending story of a young boy falling down a well, wearing a giant boot as if it was overalls, which also is a gun. Collect gems, squash and shoot the fauna, fall deeper into the infinite well, and wear some other equally large and ballistically designed shoes.

Super Absolver Mini: Turbo Fighting Championship
(2 Players Only)
A competitive fighting game where you play as your choice of one of four masked combat disciples. You choose two special moves. You fight two rounds. The winner is absolved of the obligation to ever have to fight again, but probably will anyway because the one true resolve of the flesh is a fist colliding with it.

Catsylvania
It’s a cat inside of a suit of armor. It’s a cat...In full plate armor. What else do you want?

PikuBiku Ball Stars (2 Players Only)
Everybody’s favorite red thing with legs is back and ready to sink some baskets with a friend. Nothing but net baby. Slam freakin’ dunk.

Luftrousers

Hello, I am Rami Ismail, ½ of Dutch independent game development studio, Vlambeer. We made a version of Luftrausers that had a typo, and JW left the thumbdrive containing the source at a coffee shop somewhere while I was doing a talk in Berlin, then Nairobi, then in Los Angeles the following day. If you find the thumbdrive, can you please return it and please PLEASE do not share the contents with anyone or add it to a compilation of pirated, under-the-table ripoffs of games that Devolver has published.

Eh, don't even try to make sense of things anymore.
So I checked my microsoft store games and I somehow have Outer Wilds. Never fucking bought it. Buttttt when I double checked, I possess it on "surface hub" and it will seemingly only play on Xbox. Nothing to see, my usual luck.
Not that I care really, but it was a nice gift for the little time I thought I possessed it.

Anybody can explain this nonsense ? A mixpot gift maybe ?

I don't understand a lot about how those Mixer giveaways work (I never used it, so I'm pretty much clueless), but when Outer Wilds was announced as an EGS exclusive, I saw plenty of people mentioning "that game from the MS Mixer giveaway", or asking if they were still getting it for free, so that's probably where you got your free copy.

That's a surprise! I expected all future Annapurna games to be EGS exclusive.

Edit: it seems all of Annapurna’s timed exclusives have Steam pages. So probably still EGS exclusive for a year.

A shame I was looking forward to it coming to pc.
Kinda expected SE to be the first to do this.
Seems they've learned nothing from the RotTR exclusivity deal 👎

So Arkane is now developing a weird multiplayer game? The cinematic trailer looked good, but I have no clue on how you're supposed to play it.
But if I'm being honest, there's almost no chance that I'll ever really play it, so... 🤷‍♀️

I haven't played most KH games so until The Story So Far hits Steam Epic can keep KH3.
I have played the first few worlds of KH1 and didn't like it (Tarzan's was a candidate for worst level of all time), so if the PC port dies a horrible death I won't shed a single tear :p

I've played all 3 mainline Kingdom Hearts games, and probably a couple of spin-off/side games. Never finished any of them. I played for 5 hours at most I believe, which was KH3 earlier this year. The franchise simply never clicks with me.

Are these kind of emails new? I don't think I've gotten one before. Specifically the part that "you played a game by this dev before so maybe you are interested in this too."

I think the Blair Witch franchise and Supermassive Games could be a really good fit thematically. A tinge of goofiness between the horror, like the original movie.

All I can say is that at the very least I'm looking forward to what kind of demented regional pricing a Square game will have on the EGS.

My bets are on KH3 being the most expensive game on the entire store.

It will be interesting to see the aftermath of Square Enix siding with EGS, they have earned a totally deserved bad reputation in the last few years. In the end I think it can further damage their image rather than provide a much needed turnaround.
