Still plugging away at DOS2. I think I am done with Reaper's Coast now... The map is scoured clean, all of my open quests are for the next area(or are quests I don't feel like finishing). Time to move on!
I recently fired up my DOS2 save as well. I've just started venturing outside of Driftwood. Still not really sure how I want to ultimately build most of my party, but Red Prince as melee and Ifan as a bow guy seems to make sense.

I’ve toyed with the idea of replaying FF7 for years. I played it in French, which if I’m not mistaken is even more badly translated than the English version.
But there are so many possibilities. Switch for portability and not having those ugly models too big ? Emulation with a good crt shader ? Retranslation, and if so which one ? Remako mod ?
A little too many choice for someone who doesn’t even like FF7.
FF6 FTW.

Any advice guys ?
Last time I played it vanilla on a ps on the TV because why not. That's the way I remembered it and it was nice to replay it.

Just because you mentioned it and because I'm curious, any "portability" lover can chime in but when exactly do you use a portable console? Don't get me wrong I still have a og Gameboy (with tetris) in the bathroom but that was and is the last portable system I had or wanted (and it's quite stationary nowadays). I don't commute with bus or train so no time there and I couldn't imagine playing something else than Tetris or a puzzler if I would. At home I rather play on my pc (at my comfy desk or couch). In the bathroom og Gameboy and no RPGs or longer games. In bed I sleep or read. At work I work and breaks I eat, talk or read.

I would never buy a switch and my first console was a nes and I had every homeconsole from Nintendo until wiiu and that makes me sad.

In my case the answer is simple, 80% bed 20% couch. I have a history with insomnia and that leaves a lot of time to play in bed. I don't read much because of reading OCD either. And yes, as a litterary guy, that is slowly killing me. Worth noting is that sleep has, god yes, came back in recent months and I really don't play as much anymore.
But I imagine each person could have a slightly different answer.

This is my "second" Switch so I've not brought it out much, but based on my overall experience with portables past and present:

  • Bathroom
  • Bedroom
  • I frequently travel on weekends, so those places
  • Work
  • In a park
  • Starbucks/cafes
  • On the couch in my living room
  • In the kitchen while cooking
  • I've gone to hobby stores with friends who play stuff like Magic, so there
  • If I use public transport to go "to the city," then on that
  • I also travel for work, so flights/hotels

first sorry for ot but yeah, i though that these would come up so i gave my examples because in all of these circumstances except bed where i don't play out of principle,
i couldn't imagine playing something more involved than tetris or puzzle games. it's strange. I think gaming is for me winding down, not something in between things i have to do.

anyway, enjoy your switch.

Oh yeah, everyone's usage is subjective. I'm not sure if I could--or would--playing something like my beloved Doom (2016) on Switch, but something like an RPG/JRPG? Absolutely.

Speaking of the topic, I've also been playing a bit of Destiny. Really, really enjoy Menagerie.

That's how I have them set up currently as well. I have Red as Warfare/Geomancer so he can buff physical armor and tank, and Ifan is Huntsman/Hydro so he can buff magical armor and heal when he has to. Fane is Pyro and some Geo but I want to respec him, and Lohse is Scoundrel with a bit of Aero for CC and Huntsmen for Tactical Retreat.

I definitely recommend taking some Polymorph on Red prince. It's extremely strong in general, but especially for melee characters.

I'll give that a shot! In a way I actually prefer a class based system to what DOS 2 has. Too much freedom leaves me paralysed by indecision.

I recently finished Far Cry 5, after having given up on it months ago, since it was so incredibly boring ;)
But I was actually very close to the end of the storyline when I had abandoned it, so it didnt take long to finish, and it was....meh. For me, easily the most uninteresting story of all the Ubisoft FC games. But for me, conquering bases/towers was always the most fun, and I hardly ever could relate to the characters or story.

Now I'm back to playing World of Warcraft for a bit until I get bored of that. I still like the game, but a lot of it is just too slow, and I wish it didnt have other people in it ;)

@ Dishonored: I found out when I played it that doing the stealthy route in that game was very frustrating, because it was so easy to mess up if you didnt know what you were doing. When I started playing chaotic first, and then replaying stealthy (already knowing the level well), that was much better. A stealthy approach, or even completely ghosting everything, can be super satisfying, but it helps tremendously if one is already intricately familiar with the levels.

Played the Knife of Dunwall DLC for Dishonored last night. For the first time, since I rarely buy DLC unless it's part of the "complete" edition. The first mission in the slaughterhouse is really good, I wasn't detected and found a way to get rid of the target without killing him. But yet the end level screen showed 1 kill for me. I'm pretty sure I didn't kill anyone since I only used stealth and sleep darts. Given the focus on stealth and the length of the missions, it's weird that the game doesn't even notify you if you kill someone.

If I remember correctly even if you used sleep darts you have to make sure that these people don't accidentally kill themselves by drowning them or get suffocated in some way.

Finished Super Mario World yesterday. But still got the Star World levels to do, after that I am finished with this classic game :D

Too Human.

Sometimes wonders do happen. I haven't checked Xbox page for quite some time, and, believe it or not, just yesterday thought about buying the disc, then visited the xbox marketplace and found out that the game is available as freebie, moreover, MS finally made Infinite Undiscovery available for digital purchase, a lot of good news from their side. Dunno what MS did to satisfy overlords at Epic, but I'm glad they did it.

The game is janky, the animation is jerky, character designs are ugly and the melee combat controls are outright ass. Yet, I'm enjoying it, there's a heart to this game, something missing from a lot of VGs made today.

I think you can check the mission stats somewhere in the menu even in Dishonored 1.
I'm sure you can in Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider, as I checked them repeatedly for each mission to make sure that no guard spotted me or died in mysterious ways, despite me lovingly disposing of their bodies
I love to stash them all together in a single place in the map. Sometimes the ones underneath die :blobweary:

I enjoyed Too Human as well, I went as far as getting all the achievements on Xbox. I'm sad that a game like that died, while games with far worse gameplay mechanics (cover system) continued to succeed for years. Pity.

Ge0force Yeah, if you're going for completely low chaos then be careful of people you stun slipping off of surfaces and dying or slipping into pools and drowning.

Milena I'm going to have to post my pictures from We Happy Few lol. Staircases full of bodies "sleeping" in the factory.
Damn, i love that game.

Ooooh, I didn't realize that you could do that in We Happy Few as well.
So far I've collected unconscious guards in all the Dishonored games and the newest Deus Ex games. Unfortunately I don't have screenshots :disappointed-face:

In Dishonored 1 on the Xbox 360 if you put too many bodies in the same spot the previous ones went away, so that was rather disappointing. Thankfully this terrible problem doesn't exist in Dishonored 2 on PC.

I'm currently playing Persona Q2.

I can't really fault it, other than the fact that there's no English dub and it's stuck on 3DS. It's a nice mishmash of characters from the three most recent mainline games, lots of fanservice, a good sense of humour (so far no homophobic shit) and I actually think I enjoy the combat more than mainline games.

But a large chunk of the charm is lost, since I played the mainline games in English. Plus, as I mentioned, the 3DS really is hobbling these games. I hope they get remade/remastered on modern hardware that doesn't make games look like a blurry/jaggy mess.

I really love how the stories connect the further you get into the plot. On paper you'd think it would be annoying that the game stops you so often with bad ends or outright "blocks", but in practice it's like reading an actual novel that keeps jumping from hero to hero, say something from Song of Ice and Fire, expect here you never jump too far away.

It's also remarkable how each character and their stories feels so different. I assume the various scenarios must have been written by different people, hard to imagine one writer having so much range.

Today I played Mushihimesama non-stop. I think I'm done. I got 33 out of 50 Achievements. It was okay, but Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION spoiled me for a while. The perks of being a teacher is to have the summer to play a lot of games.

I am doing some backlog clean up these days so i started with some adventure oldies i missed or never finished:
Curse of Monkey Island was fun but not as good as the first two.
Prisoner of Ice was interesting but not as good as the Shadow of the Comet.
I am finishing Grim Fandango Remastered with Commentary on and it is very enjoyable and interesting as Schafer and co reminisce how the game was made.
Next up Full Throttle Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered (haven't played this) and return to a beloved title, Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis.

I finished the tutorial. I think I'm getting it. I, uh, think I like it. Saving those coins and getting rid of low characters for extra coins really helped me in the end. I could keep refreshing the shop for stronger characters. Now, I need to learn good teams and builds. I’ll probably run a few more practice matches and test my knowledge before going in to get my ass kicked.

I didn't have time to play pc games the past 3 days, but it was too hot to sleep last night so I've played some original Gameboy games on my Vita. More specifically Super Mario land 2 DX, a community made color version of the original game. Still a great game to play imo!

Now that you mention CR, I'm playing through Grim Dawn and this game world, something in the writing, gives me a furious desire to play D&D.
But hey, forever alone.

On the other hand I just forced myself to resume my playthrough of Final Fantasy Adventure on GameBoy, and I just beat it. It was a remarkable game but I think I can't stand GameBoy music. And toward the last quarter of the game it just become tedious and repetitive, it hasn't aged perfectly. But still, glad I experienced it.

Oh and I resumed my Tropico 4 campaign too. This is a perfect example of overstaying your welcome. 20 fucking missions doing the same thing. The jokes kept the game wonderfully fresh for a time but now I'm just suffering through the last two missions. Doesn't help that the game just decided to up the difficulty in the very few last missions. It comes without saying that Tropico 5 and 6 will have to fucking wait.
But I fear I can't even play through the 12 missions of the Modern Times DLC, it's above my abilities.
There is a character who meta the joke at a point, saying he just like restarting his business forever. In theory, yeah, but not when your missions take me 3-4 hours each.

Red level menace of drop goes to Shin Megami Tensei Apocalypse. Didn't play it for several days, the game is absolutely mediocre, just riding the assets and plot from the fourth entry. But I know my OCD wil never let me hear the end of it if I skip it. Uguu...

Agreed. In the end, instead of following the story, I just built all the buildings that made money and rushed through the remaining missions. :sweaty-blob:
