No matter how much I adjust the interactive recommender at least a third if not more of the games are way off base for me.

Still a pretty cool thing. I'll probably mess around with it a little more after I wake up tomorrow.
Not enough anime?
Fucking shameful. I wish we could do something. Donating to pro union associations maybe?

RetroArch coming soon to Steam!

  • We are softlaunching RetroArch on Steam two weeks from now
  • It will be free. No DRM, no restrictions
  • Expect a barebones release at first that is basically identical to the version you are able to download on our website. Once the initial release is done, we can start catering to Steam's advanced features
  • We want to release on Windows first and then in the upcoming weeks expand to Linux and Mac as wel
  • While RetroArch is in its barebones state, there will be no Steamworks SDK usage of any kind.

Ha! Wouldn't mind that scenario one bit and would actually be preferable to a couple that show up. I forget the exact spot I had the sliders, but it actually suggested two abandoned games at one point in the same list, Radical Heights and Dirty Bomb.

yeah, pretty much .... it's basically the same game really
To be fair there's a LOT of QoL things in EDF5 that would make it harder to go back to 4.1 imo. Things like when picking up weapon pickups you get weapons for every class now, armour you pick up carries over to all classes (though I think it's a slightly reduced amount for the classes you aren't playing as), difficulties that you complete mark the medals for lower difficulties as well etc. That and the slots for giving your character nice little bonuses. Of course the new destruction system for the enemies is great fun and nothing more satisfying that shooting some prick aliens arm off before then decapitating him

Of course the games inherently grindy though, you're supposed to start at the lower difficulties and work your way up etc. So I don't blame anyone for disliking them, for me though very easy games to chill to (well apart from when you're desperately running backwards being chased by like 300 enemies :p )

FF14 peeps; I got FF14 in March for my bday, and redeemed my key. Unbeknowst to me, that immediatly activated my 30 day trial.
The 30 days had passed but now I want to play ff14, but the friggin' thing won't even let me download the game.
I want to at least download the game so what do?
Sub for a month? I think registering Shadowbringers also gives me a 30 day trial/pass right?

Been playing some Nioh this past week and man I wish I played this before Sekiro. The mobility, combat, animations and level design in Sekiro almost make it feel like a next gen title compared to Nioh. There is even a poor mans Genichiro fight early on in Nioh hehe.

Still tho the mechanics and overall design in Nioh is pretty fun. Only about 10hrs into it but will definitely play it to the end. Just love these type of Souls inspired games especially when the dev is so dedicated to their vision and everything is well made. I wasn't too happy about how loot driven the game is at first but I kinda got the hang of it. Felt like I was playing Dark Souls <---> Path of Exile but eventually you start getting much more powerful stuff.

And considering this is their first attempt at something like this I gotta say its overall a solid effort which they will ofc improve with the sequel. Speaking of which I hope we don't have to wait too long for the sequel to come to Steam. Definitely want to support team Ninja early on this time around and not gonna wait so long like I did with the first.

I'm sad the Minecraft Earth beta won't let me sign up for the beta, some unspecified website error. I'll try again later but really I just want it now, to make my walks with my dog in this awful weather slightly distracted :p

Should I feel bad for not knowing what Retroarch is?
I never heard about Retroarch but excited to see if they can partner with anyone else to bring over roms of older games.
if it makes you feel better I don't either
I've no idea either

There's a thing called the Libretro API, basically a unified way for writing emulators (or games that use said emulators) (and each emulator that implements this API is then known as a "libretro core").
RetroArch is a frontend that allows you to simply download and use hundreds of emulators over the same interface. Instead of needing to install and handle many programs, one simple interface handles it all for you, and it allows to integrate things like ReShade easily for all your emulated games.

If RetroArch on Steam comes with a usable gamepad friendly UI, I'd honestly consider paying full price for it.
it'll be free ... but i already suggested they at least add a "support" DLC like some other free apps did :)

yes

Isn't Retroarch the one with the PSP-like GUI? Isn't that gamepad friendly? I just find the whole thing super convoluted to set up properly so end up utilizing a myriad different stand alone emulators instead. But then get annoyed they don't all have the same quality of video output or crt shaders or whatever else.
holy shit, lmao! 😂
I mean, the game is pretty much that mobile Hitman & Tomb Raider puzzler. Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO. The latter was lovely, the former probably too.

Bioshock Infinite has a very interesting combat system. You don't have to rely on cover and are able to be constantly on the move to get distance from enemies. The vigor abilities you can use are quite good too, though of course some could consume a lot of your vigor ;P
I may avoid using the love poiton on human enemies though...

This recommender should not show games that are already wishlisted, instead it should change those for more unknown results to complete the number of games recommended.
WELL WELL WELL WELL WELL WELL WELLWELLWELLWELLWELL!

Looks like this has been already patched, that was quick, good :cat-heart-blob:

Wok I think you forgot to post something in here, something... Taggy wink wink ;D

Your Steam information combined with madjoki's apportations are really appreciated, don't forget MC, please, I want to thank you personally and I can't outside here. :cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob:

Steam Labs Patch Notes for Friday, July 12

12 Jul @ 11:57pm - Alden

We’ve seen a great response and a ton of feedback from all of you in the last 24 hours since Steam Labs released! In just over a day, we’ve seen over 3 million page-views across the experiments. The Interactive Recommender itself has generated a quarter-million clicks through to game store pages and 36,000 subsequent wishlist additions spread across 5,839 unique games. We think these results are pretty great for just over a day of activity with an experimental feature.

We’re still sifting through all the feedback and suggestions you’ve made for these first three experiments, and we’ve already made a few changes based on some of the most common requests. Here are the quick notes on today’s updates:

Steam Labs General
  • Added responsive mode to the Steam Labs website for proper display in mobile (though we know there are still issues with some video playback on some devices)
  • Added more purple where purple was necessary
Recommender
  • Added checkbox to hide recommendations for games that are already on your wishlist
  • Recommendations now respect store tags you have already marked to exclude from recommendations. You can set those here at any time: Login
Micro Trailers
  • Added pages for games tagged with Physics, God Games, and Voxels
  • Adding anonymized tracking codes (same as used throughout the rest of the store) so game developers can tell how much traffic is coming to their store page from micro trailer pages
Thanks for all your suggestions and feedback so far!

RetroArch is great as far as I'm concerned. The work on unifying shaders and eliminating latency are the key benefits. I hope the project never gets screwed up, but I guess I have previous versions if I need em...

The most interesting thing about RetroArch on Steam would be if my friends can see me playing Nintendo games on PC...
