Spend an hour to put up the highlight thread

Weighs them on each hand
Realizes taht the JoJo finale is days later
Weighs initial 2 on each hand again

The latter doesn't concern me, only the former. so all in all, I'm good to redeem it, just need assistance in buying it X3
Hm, your best bet is looking at Russian grey market since official digital stores (the two I remembered to check, that is) are selling Beth Launcher keys.

Valve really screwed up, a bunch of older TF2 crates (series 1-19, 82 and 85) all drop 100% unusual hats (hats with particle effects that have a 1% chance of dropping) since the update a few hours ago. I unboxed a ton of them myself, I'm sure it's going to horribly damage the economy of the game since unusuals have become super common.
Wow, thanks. Sold 3 crates for 10€ :p

Купить Wolfenstein: Youngblood лицензионный ключ дешевле Steam this one right? But as he said, that is coming from retail, not from licensed digital distributors. This site is pretty much Russian CDKeys for what I understand, while plati.ru is Russian Kinguin / G2A. Both should have those retail keys in stock. Anyway, I don't think that any of these accept PayPal (plati.ru is seller-dependent I think? Mostly don't accept PayPal though).

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is only available on Steam and GOG?
Does anyone know if any other store will carry it (Humble, ...)?
I'm hoping for a slightly higher discount. :)

Im very impressed by myself that I managed to work out for 1h30m in this fucking hot weather goddamn. Stepping off the treadmill made me feel like Vader.

Also, I read that in many parts of Europe, it's life threatening to go outside and scientists are warning that the glacier might melt.

Oh well.

Russian retail in some cases selling keys both in physical and online. Some of them are even using plati.ru for selling the keys, and they are getting them from the official distributors. RU/CIS region is different from ROW, so don't be surprised to see legitimate official sellers selling their stuff right next to unofficial traders who got their keys from GPU promotions and other sketchy sources. Playo is an official seller and their keys are coming directly from publishers and regional distributors. The main problem is lack of international payments, nobody is using PayPal because it has way too big fees for our market.

And while I won't hate you guys for taking advantage of regional pricing, I still want to remind you to not abuse the system too much. I suspect the reason why some games like from EA are receiving shitty regional pricing these days is the sales stats, when they see the increase of sales in some regions they just decided there is no need in reducing the price and adjusted it. I have no proof that it's the reason why it's happening, but please, think about it and try to not abuse VPN too much, you'll have your regular deals in any case while customers from those regions will have to deal with increased prices.

The only Quakecon deals im interested in are Commander Keen on GOG and maybe Death of the Outsider on steam.... but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger.
MJunioR, Dishonored2 should be played asap. It's such a good game, with either character.

Stay safe eu and us meta peeps.
I joke about the weather but i do feel worried for y'all.
I don't know why everyone's hysterical about the weather. It's not even that warm. We always had summers like that every 3-4 years and the rest of them are rainy and depressing. You'll live my cold loving friends, you won't melt, believe me. And the other 11 months it will be shitty, rainy, cloudy and cold again, don't you worry. Just enjoy the few (at most) sunny and beautiful weeks we got gifted because the next year will be shitty again. In short: shut the fuck up you whiney mofos!

We've been hitting new record highs this year and combined with last year's draught water levels are getting lower and lower, it has been raining too little for a good long while now and the issue really isn't a simple 'too hot for me' anymore.

Also rain isn't depressing, it's lovely. :photoblobheart:

but that's literally been said every year since, well, since i'm alive about 40 years ago. "there is no water anymore", "we will have a crop loss", "oh the heat, it was never that hot". and then we all live and the next few years are shitty again.

Nah, shit has been warmer in the recent years.
not really, no. not where I am from (central Europe). and these kind of summers every few years.

This is a plot of the temperature (averaged over a year) in Paris, graphed since 1873.

As for the maximal temperature, the record for Paris was broken yesterday.

Worldwide, last June was the hottest June of the past 140 years. This July is shaping to follow this trend.
The following plot gives an idea of the current trend for average June temperatures

Here in Belgium, a 66yo woman died yesterday while sunbathing. I guess she didn't watch tv, never read any papers and didn't have access to the internet, because like EVERYONE was warning not to do that. According to my cars thermometer, it was 49°C at 5pm.

More than two hundred people died due to last years heat-wave in as small of a country as Denmark, the victims primarily being elderly people.

It is getting worse, and has been getting worse for a long time, and acting like this is merely something you need to tough out is incredibly ignorant.

Thanks for clearing it up Inquisitor, and yeah, as someone from a region that has seen publishers completely abandoning regional prices I feel you. I only use plati to get a removed game every now and then.

More like 1°C if we are conservative (from 11.5°C to 12.5°C). It is hard to quantify based on the graph, but there is some trend, I would say.

I looked that the weather forecast and saw that it would be much colder, so I thought good I'll go change to a suit again... not reflecting that even if it's much colder, it's still hot as fuck haha... and the locker where I have my clothes is closed.T_T

At least tomorrow it should be like half of what it was yesterday.

Just a heads up regarding the Windows Insider program. Since I joined it, I have experienced a lot of issues with older games. Ok, it's just one issue: they make Windows crash right after launching them and I get this screen in either green or blue:

and the games then disappear from the "installed games" list in Steam (even though they're still installed).

I found some stuff when googling this issue which doesn't make me feel optimistic:
Here’s the problem: An operating system-level change resulted in software freezing the operating system. But Microsoft hasn’t fixed this at the operating system level. Instead, it’s just expecting game developers to fix their anti-cheat software. That means that, if you play a game that hasn’t yet been patched, Windows will suddenly freeze and bring down your entire operating system.

This isn’t just our speculation. Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc, senior program manager on the Windows Insider Program Team, confirmed that affected games will continue to freeze the Windows operating system on Twitter:

There has been an issue with older versions of anti-cheat software used with games where after updating to the latest 19H1 Insider Preview builds may cause PCs to experience crashes. We are working with partners on getting their software updated with a fix, and most games have released patches to prevent PCs from experiencing this issue. To minimize the chance of running into this issue, please make sure you are running the latest version of your games before attempting to update the operating system. We are also working with anti-cheat and game developers to resolve similar issues that may arise with the 20H1 Insider Preview builds and will work to minimize the likelihood of these issues in the future.

My take-away here is that MS won't look into fixing any of these issues and expects developers to release patches for their games. Which is quite unlikely in case of older games. Games which made Windows crash (all Steam versions and up-to-date):
  • Risen
  • Rakuen
  • Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
  • KotoR 2

I was able to play Risen after I used the recovery option to go back to a previous Windows 10 build. But that's not an option anymore since too much time has passed since I installed the Insider build.

The only thing that seems a bit off is that the articles I linked talk about anti-cheat software while the games I tested are all single-player games. Not sure what's up with that. But the common denominator seems to be the Insider build.

Any other ideas on what I might try would be appreciated. I could reinstall an older build manually but I want to avoid that if possible.

yeah, that graph makes it way more dramatic :)
I'm not saying it's not warm. but chill in a icy bathtub if you can't stand it, I'm happy that we have a warm summer again this year, last year it was rainy as fuck. and as i said, it's not something new, i can (and will) look for historical weather data from where i live when i have a bit of time; every few years we have a record summer, the next 3-4 years it's not as nice with a lot or rain. that doesn't mean that its not getting warmer overall, we didn't have a really cold winter for a lot of years, they are more mushy winters, not really cold, not warm. but that doesn't mean i can't be happy about nice weather in summer! enjoy!

mimimi incredibly ignorant mimimi, im going for a run now and enjoy the nice weather, have fun melting yall!

If the games are that old would a no-cd patch or similar work?
3 of those 4 games you mention are games i really like so this is bad news for me. :(

edit: A quick look around shows some Ubi games that use EasyAntiCheat also crash but there's a patch being rolled out. I might have to dig out my old PC kit and build a "Retro Windows 10" PC that doesn't go on the network if things start to degrade running old games or build a VM for home.

Indeed. (Almost) Unlimited backward compatibility is one of the main advantages of PC gaming and it would be a damn shame to see it vanish.

I don't want to make anyone paranoid since I don't have the knowledge to determine if something else is causing trouble or if it is "just" the current Windows 10 build. But so far everything is pointing to the latter since it first started after joining the Insider program (damn you game pass).

Valve messed something up and now old worthless crates are giving expensive drops, so people are now buying old crates for 10 bucks a piece.

Well, if worse comes to worst, you can always use a VM to install Win XP/7. Or Linux and use Proton, which shouldn't have these issues. :smart-thinking-blob:
