God, has it already been almost a year since the bullshit started? Somehow feels like it was longer...

Don't think I'll be there day one for Hades. Pyre bored the shit out of me to the point where I dropped it after like 3 hours and Bastion was just kind of okay. Transistor is the only one of their games I truly loved. Plus, I kinda don't want to reward devs that take EGS deals. I don't blame them for it but that doesn't mean I have to pay full price lol. Besides, if it's still early access then eh.
I don't buy Early Access games anymore, so I'm not buying Hades when it finally shows its face on Steam. I bought Pyre on Day 1 and still haven't even installed it yet(I wanted to show my support to the devs, how toxic of me, I know), so I think Hades is a LONG way off for me.

Bad news, Pathologic 2 studio in trouble

Game sold like shit, which is a damn shame because that means we won't see 2 additional campaigns that were initially planned. I love this game, it's very hard and weird, and most of the reviewers didn't understand what's going on in it and gave it bad scores. Ironically, the same happened when original Pathologic happened, but it didn't stop it from receiving cult status and selling well enough to keep the studio afloat. Unfortunately, no miracles this time... You can read the full interview about this game in russian here - «Иногда выгоднее проиграть войну, чем выиграть её»: большое интервью с Ice-Pick Lodge о «Море» — Gamedev на DTF

Watch Epic swoop in to save them and blame Steam for the failure (really it's the media failure to get them exposure to the right audience tbh) :d

Even though that'd be the opposite they've been doing so far (getting almost surefire hits onboard) that'd at least have a positive effect if it happened.

Sucks. Not a fan of their games but clearly they have vision and stick to it. Although remaking/rebooting/sequeling that game might have been a mistake.

There seems to be plenty of user reviews and they are very positive. It only released 3 months ago so maybe devs had high expectations? Maybe development hell? I don't really know much about that series but it looks like a spooky survival singleplayer game. Also should probably put it on consoles for more revenue.

A bit sad to see that based on those slides, the "shell" of the client remains the same. I think it clashes with the new stuff quite a bit. It was like that in earlier reveals as well but was hoping that they would do something to it before the beta. Maybe before release.

Yes, it was, not sure about now, in that interview they said that they don't know when console versions are going to be released.

Partly development hell, but it's not high expectations, sales are really not very good, I asked them directly. The game was in development for almost 5 years and they underestimated the difficulties they had to deal with while making this game. It's a massive project, even in the current state game can easily take 30-40 hour to complete, it's open-world nonlinear story-driven survival that has so many variables I can't imagine how they managed to pull it out. Important NPCs can die and entire questlines will be gone, tons of choices and dependencies, just look how missions journal look in this game:

And it just the first day, later acts look like this:
It's very hard and unforgiving but it's still very impressive and unique game and it's a shame it didn't suceseed.

Damn shame about Pathologic, they are definitely not games i would enjoy but i liked seeing people enjoying them. Shame they couldn't quite capture a big enough following.

God damn it. Ice Pick Lodge are quite literally my favourite developers. To see what is, to this point, their biggest, and best game, not find an audience hurts.

No one makes games quite like they do. If you like Banjo and Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, go find Cargo: Quest for Gravity. If you like quirky horror games, go buy Knock Knock.

I'd almost like to see someone swoop in and invest in the studio, even Epic, if it meant they could keeping doing their thing.

Reventure is up on the Chrono.gg coin shop for 17500. What is this game? Am I being tricked into wanting to grab this?

The one and only non-linear adventure with 100 different endings. Don't just wishlist me. I'm not that expensive... also, look at those reviews!

Finished RDR2 today (yes, including the whole epilogue). 8/10, good game, but nothing really special. Made me think a lot about the story of the first RDR and
Also played the demo of Dragon Quest XI on Switch. Looked a lot worse than the PC-version does and the lack of 60 FPS really feels. So Im not getting it. Just gonna play the game on PC.

I liked RDR a lot back in the day but for some reason the sequel doesn't give me any impulse to play it. Sometimes if you take too long to bring more games to a series, it's true that people move on and stop wanting to play that.

Man if I were you I would spoiler tag the end of the first paragraph, I know RDR is an old game but it's better to avoid any backlash mate ;)
When is the line between spoiler and no spoiler? 5 years? 10 years? 30 years?

Well considering this is a PC centric forum and RDR is not on PC, but could come, who knows, I put a spoiler anyway, but you need to update your post.

I'm still playing RDR (PS3) and........

IDGAF. Its old. I'm gonna get spoiled. The game is more than just its ending. People need to f.u.c.k.i.n.g relax about spoilers. JFC, I blame Disney (No, I'm not kidding) for all the ANTI-SPOILER Bullshit marketing they spouted for years. The Russo brothers riled over excited fan-people with their "Thanos Demands your Silence". Fuck you, it isn't that serious, fuck a corporation controlling our speech, fuck Disney, fuck the Russo brothers and your cameo in the last movie was weak shit and you know it.

(I'm in a rare mood lol, these rainy summer days in NJ, I'm telling you)

Something is still fucked after the last Windows 10 August update.
(I had the problem that the Steam Overlay stopped working in Shibuya Scramble and Danganronpa didn't start anymore -> white screen, kill with task manager. I thought I "fixed" it when I reinstalled the graphics card driver, but for some reason that worked for a day....)

I have no idea what else could be affected, but it's getting a bit annoying. Uninstalling the update is a guaranteed fix, but that's kinda not an option with those security fixes.
It appeary to be DirectX (9) related, because Danganronpa starts just fine in the OpenGL mode. I'm grasping at straws here, any ideas? I really don't want to refresh my windows install :/

I'm not gonna get mad if I get spoiled about a really old game/movie/series and who cares about minor stuff buuuut imo things like the death of a main character or who the killer is when the whole movie hinges on you not knowing should be avoided no matter how old something is. The 'should've watched it' excuse imo doesn't fly because new people discover old media all the time. Just be reasonable with a) spoilers and b) getting mad about them.

My rant: What's with the inconsistent spacing when embedding stuff here or using that horizontal line? Raaaaaahhahargh. Like why the fuck is there a bigger space above this text than below it?

10 years, max in general discussion. A year in specific discussion. At a certain point, if you go to a place where something is discussed, that's on you. Like, I'm still watching Neon Genesis (the original run), first time watch. I found it ABSURD that certain discussion around the internet had giant banners saying NO SPOILERS OMGERD DON"T SPOIL!!!!!! Chill out people, its been twenty years.

No one gets reasonable about spoilers and spoiler phobe babies smother discussion in person. I've had it happen. Dial it back spoiler phobes, I don't have the problem, its clear that they do.

I'm personally not bothered by spoilers no matter how new the show, movie, game, or whatever is. And chances are if said thing hinges entirely on the spoiler to be good then it has bigger problems than one spoiler. There's also plenty of folks that can go way overboard with their reactions to spoilers.

But to hand wave all concerns away entirely is horrible. I realize that not everyone is like me. Saying something like, "Oh man, did you get that really overpowered weapon <describe weapon> from <insert boss name>?" is far different than "Wow! I can't believe that boss is actually the old leader of your group and the father of your character's best friend!" Neither would bother me, but I get it bothering others. Especially if it comes from a popular and/or loved franchise. :shrugblob:

Your not special if you watched/read something. You're also not special if you didn't.

Yeah, "down vote" these truths. You know it to be true. Spoiler-phobia is just another turd on the shitpile that is modern fandom of ANYTHING and I'll happily say "No Sir, I don't like it."

I'm loving all the FMV resurgence lately, but I really wish we could get something as lighthearted as Contradiction was. Evert FMV game lately seems all dark and gloomy which is perfectly fine but it would be nice to see some variety :)
