No chance for Astral Chain? Or Xenoblade?
Xenoblade is made by a first party team and IP belongs to Nintendo
Astral Chain is made by a third party team but IP is co-owned between Nintendo and Platinum.

This two games are completely exclusive to Nintendo Systems ^^

Damn so sad to see after the Bayo and Vanquish PC ports to see Platinum pretty much almost integrate themselves into Nintendo :-(
Nah, they go where the money is and if Nintendo pays them to make 1, 2 or 3 games, they will.
Bayonetta was rescued by Nintendo when no otter company wanted it.
TW101 was a game to make use of the WiiU gamepad.
Astral Chain is just another project to keep that relationship between both studios.

But Platinum works with pretty much everyone, Square-Enix for example, and we still need to see their self-published IPs (2 IIRC)

Fun fact about Xenoblade Chronicles, the only reason I got into it was because a friend of mine had pirated it and was playing it on an emulator and was raving about it so I had to get it, so bought it for Wii.:D

exclusive, though ...
I'm willing to get any platform to get a DP version that (for the first one) doesn't crash all the time and to have access to the second one.
Also, I'm fine with this kind of exclusivity. This literally wouldn't exist without somebody bankrolling it. Nintendo has done pretty well this gen in bringing back some old cult classics.

That being said, the phrasing is a bit weird. Still, if Nintendo is bankrolling it, I would assume they would get quite the lengthy exclusivity period

This isn't a Nintendo funded project, this is Marvelous putting it first on Switch. In fact, Nintendo has nothing to do with this one.

Oh, thanks for the info. Guess then it's only a question of time until it hits PC. So Marvellous is funding this one on their own?

As far as we know, yes, this is a Marvelous project, no more entities in the copyright/trademarks so expect this to be a project from them.

The Xenoblade DE for Switch looks really good, but Ive already finished the game on my WiiU and it was good, but a very lengthy game, so may just skip it, but not sure.

Yeah, and Rising Star Games is publishing this one in Europe, like they did with the first game.

I'll never understand why some of these companies release their games exclusively, instead of bringing it to as many platforms as they can.
Surely, giving people options, and reaching a wider audience, would be beneficial to them?

Mostly because of resources available at the moment but also for commercial strategy. Usually this games benefit from something not all games can, dedicated fanbase that will double dip/wait if they want the game on a platform of choice that isn't the one it's releasing in the first place. this games will reach all audiences but slowly, expanding one place at a time.

Can't say I'm surprised as most developers follow the same trend, launch exclusively in one place for X months, then re-release the game in some more places, second wave of sales/double dippers/customers and then MAYBE a third re-release in some other system that it's going to be minor.

So yeah, it's all strategy and if they keep doing it it's because it works.

It's possible, probably even more than likely, that just like EGS and Sony, Nintendo has paid for the exclusive window.

Take World of Final Fantasy for example, no where is Sony credited for development or trademarks/whatever, yet they managed to secure a year's exclusivity. And I mean, it's probably not because SE was feeling generous you know?

Of course, but paying an exclusivity window isn't funding, it's just a practice that happens every time. Most developers will happily make this in order to get some money and keep their game alive in the long term (I mean, re-releases are for something, right?)

If Ghost Recond Breakpoint is a EGS/Uplay game only, then why does the beta version of the game have a steam_api64.dll file in it?
can you take a pic? because it's hilarious haha

pretty sure it doesn't mean anything .... they probably just left it in there because they're using the same engine as Wildlands or something

i very seriously doubt it'll be coming to steam

I always liked supporting indie developers, and helped crowdfund numerous games, but some of these indie developers reached a point where they see backers/customers as "money cows", and nothing more.

I mean, I just checked a campaign for a fun looking point & click adventure game.
One of the tiers includes an exclusive room, with exclusive puzzles and content. It's placed at a tier that costs... €500. o_O

While I very much agree with your theory, i think citing Square Enix is a bad example.
They're so all over the place with their game launches in regards to platforms, i don't believe anyone is actually paying them for anything, they're just disorganized.

Final Fantasy VII rereleased on PC a year before PS4
FFIX was supposed to release on iOS and Steam simultaniously first and consoles later which then turned into iOS first, then steam, and then consoles.
Then you have Final Fantasy Tactics which to this very day is stuck with nothing more than a mobile rerelease.
Then you have the Last Remnanet Remastered which is a PS4 exclusive despite already having had XBOX and PC Releases for the original

And so many more situations like these.

Could also just be that they started development with steam in mind because the devs didn't knew about EGS/Uplay """co-exclusivity""" at the time or the deal wasn't made yet and they just left it in there.

... or that, yes

either way - i definitely don't expect ubi to come back to steam any time soon (if ever)

they clearly want to herd as many people as possible to udontplay ... so they'll keep their games off steam for as long as humanly possible

Weird, now that I think about it, we haven't seen Chronos from THQ on the Nintendo Direct, wonder when it's going to be announced,

I just did a very quick and messy list of games I still have to play before their sequel/remake releases (or when I'm just super late to the party in some case)

Deadly Premonition
Seiken 2-3
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines
Yooka-Laylee
Romancing Saga 1-2
Ori and the Will of the Wisps 1
Nier
Nier Automata

...Good Lord !

I will try to play the next Zelda remake without having played the original though. It seems it is a very faithful remake and I fear it would be too redundant if played nearly back to back.

Mor yeah i know , i am just sad all these awesome project are backed by Ningendo so impossible to release elsewhere , but well i guess there is yuzu
Other publishers can step up and fund these games if they want to but they don't.
I'm just glad Nintendo are doing this and giving cult games a new lease of life. I'll pick up DP2 on Switch Day One and again if it come to PC.
I already have Deadly Premonition physical for 360/Ps3 & PC and i backed the board game and i'll try to get physical editions of DP2 also.

The Good Life is shaping up nicely and we're getting a SWERY DP2, fucking ace! \m/
