Has anyone here played the PC version of Ys 8?

The game has an "anti aliasing" setting, and people claim it's FXAA, but as far as I can tell turning this setting on is some kind of blur filter, and turning it off is some kind of sharpening filter. Neither option is any form of FXAA. I know FXAA gets a bad reputation sometimes, but it's a whole lot better than an indiscriminate blur filter, generally,

Can anyone confirm/deny?

First of all, I want to be on that list as well. What do I have to do?

And second, is it worth it to create a separate thread for this, to prevent this thread to be filled with "add me as well" posts? Just a suggestion, not that it really bothers me. ☺

You have to finish a game this month.

And nah, I mean, it's the Steam monthly thread challenge, there's no better place to ask to be included in The List than this very own thread.

Well okay, trying a bunch of games through UPlay+ free month:

For Honor - a lot of fun so far actually (30 min played)
Flashback - goddamn those fucking sluggish janky controls, the jumping to other platforms is pissing me off
Starlink - quite fun so far (30 min played)
HM&M 7 - meh, singleplayer is sluggish, slow, bad controls, buggy, but nice looking. anything involving MP is dead
Wildlands - was fun the first 10 min, then it became annoying and boring, just like the last few times I played it on free weekends
Anno 2205 - didn't like it at all, like 1404, 1800 and 2070 way more
Ode - what the hell is this
Settlers games - 1,2 and 3 are fun, then it goes downhill
Cold Fear - interesting story, but shitty controls, so no

As 14,99€ a month is a lot of money to ask, so Im gonna play some more of For Honor to find out if I should put it on my Steam wishlist, might become "not fun" after 1 hour playtime. Settlers 1,2,3 and maybe 4 will be bought on GOG. Starlink Im gonna play some more to see if it continues to be fun.

It's my older brothers birthday today, and my other older brothers birthday is on the 17th so any extra money I have for games went out the window towards them so I have to enjoy looking at screenshots of stuff instead.

Although for some reason the one wanted to get/do chilli dogs today for a like a meal so I get to make sonic the hedgehog jokes so I mean that's a plus

I'm guessing that because of how things on consoles are different that the "culture" and stuff like that has shaped up to be different.

Take the Blair Witch game as an example it came out and got a lot of negative reviews, and that was because the game had issues. The dev then issued a hot fix (from my understanding this would normally take weeks on consoles and the Xbox Game pass version of the game is also treated like a console release it would seem) and this did at least help with the situation and it went on to keep on selling instead of just dying on the spot. Communication is important and if it feels like the dev is not doing anything to fix the issue then people will be mad.

In that twitter thread there is mention how some indie devs might make a more "experimental" game and put that on PC via Steam instead of having it release on on platforms at once? There are a lot of games that release on Steam everyday and I would not be surprised if a lot of these indie devs viewed their game as something really special that should stand out among all of the other games. So if a strange indie game (that is not an asset flip because we can't forget about those and all of them hentai puzzle games) releases on Steam and it does not sell that, then what would leave some to think it would sell a lot better on consoles? There is the N/S now so that does help with indies but what about the PS4 and Xbox One? Are people on there as willing to try some brand new and strange thing?

I mention all of this since I was wondering are there a lot of cases where an indie game basically flops on Steam and then get releases on PS4 and Xbox One (lets ignore N/S for right now) with the exact same content, and some how manages to become this big hit? In general I feel like the games that become big hits on Steam are usually the type of indies that people on consoles want to play. Those indies survived the indie Battle Royal on Steam and were able to make a name for themselves (and a following) before they ended up "dying". I didn't want to mention N/S since it has this relationship with indie games were if your game is popular (or if it was one of the lucky early releases) that it will do well and Nintendo will even promote your game on the eShop where it will be easy to find. (This part I did very little research on so sorry for the misinformation) If your game does not sell well at launch then it will not get a spot in the best selling games chart, the best selling chart is the only place to really get noticed if your an indie game (and this is assuming people are willing to even check the chart). There is a spot for indie games that Nintendo promotes but that is typically only for the high profile games (aka the ones that did well on Steam and have made a name for themselves, kind of a thing) and not so much for the new indie titles that just came out, that are niche, and that are "okay".

As we all known Valve does encourage devs to ask people to wishlist their games on Steam and thats because wishlist do have a number of benefits on Steam, eShop also has a wishlist feature but from what I can tell it is a basic one that is limited to helping you find out when the game gets a discount and that sort of stuff via an email (like Steam).

I still think that the eshop has a long ways to go before it can be of more help for customers to find new, indie games. I just checked on the eShop website and it suffers the same issue that PSN does. Hey we see that you are looking at this sports game, did you know that people that visited this webpage also looked at the webpage for this JRPG game? To which I answer what the hell does that JRPG have to do with this sports game? I mean ya I like JRPGs but this does not seem like the place to mention that. I would assume that if you were a indie dev making a sport game that you would want your indie game to be shown a long side a big well know sport game since that person may want to give your game a try as well. It just seems weird to me as well, and like I mentioned as well it does seem that Nintendo and Sony (I have no idea about MS since I don't own an Xbox and there for can't see what some one on the Xbox Live store sees) do support indie games, when it comes to the actual digital store front (where most of the copies of these indie games will be sold on) it does not seem like they are doing a lot to get these indie games "discovered", which is important since not every single person uses the store everyday and there for may miss a new release or something like that.
