I am curious if the ones who got the nba 2k gsme on steam dont use mtx and merely chest engine or trainer the stuff they need to increase player stats etc.

Anyways anyone know if trophy sfx in special k can be increased? As in increase its volume or st least overtake ingame audio?

Good. I'd rather ignore games launching exclusively on EGS outright and learn of them later from gog/steam directly than have to wait and remove it from a wishlist. Of course people are going to point to this as overreacting/bad for devs, but it's yet again a rather minimal, muted response from Valve and it make sense. Don' use Steam for PR then drop it at the first sign of SweeneyCash

Personally I only play MyLeague and MyGm (never got into other modes not even when they weren’t mtx-ridden) which are the only two modes untouched by mtx. I feel 2K knows that MyLeague and MyGM are played by a relatively small number of older people (compared to the very young crowd of MyPlayer) that would just stop purchasing the game altogether if they started adding MTX.

oh boy ...

Good. Since the whole argument has been about “fuck ethics, let’s talk about money” it’s only fair that they stop using Steam as an advertising platform if they don’t intend to release the game there.

I can’t think of a single online storefront that allows something like that. Videogames or otherwise.

Edit: Shame on you for giving false hope

Has anyone here played the PC version of Ys 8?

The game has an "anti aliasing" setting, and people claim it's FXAA, but as far as I can tell turning this setting on is some kind of blur filter, and turning it off is some kind of sharpening filter. Neither option is any form of FXAA. I know FXAA gets a bad reputation sometimes, but it's a whole lot better than an indiscriminate blur filter, generally,

Can anyone confirm/deny?

Edit: nvm ... apparently it's old and volvo just chooses not to enforce it
This, that reddit report is misleading, yes, that's a real clausule of the agreement you sign to become a Steam developer/Partner, HOWEVER, it has been there for ages, how can we all be sure? each change of the agreement gets followed by a massive wave of emails to every developer that it's Steam partner, no reports have surfaced in the last few weeks for this and last big change was prior the Metro Exodus exclusivity, was designed for a split change (remember, the goal system)

So yeah, as lashman said, that has been there for ages and Valve just doesn't care and won't apply that, in fact, to avoid confusions like this, if they are not going to enforce this rule (which isn't bad IMO) they should just remove it from there or modify to imply a totally different thing.

Maybe we are all misinterpreting the paragraph. I would need to know what a "commercial release" is and what an "Effective Date" is.

The paragraph could just mean that:
  1. you are not supposed to sell games with empty content in their depot, if they are marked as released (on Steam),
  2. thereafter, updates should be delivered to Steam, no later than on other stores.
If these points are correct, then the rule is enforced: I have never seen an "empty" game being sold on Steam. Imagine a game which is marked as "released", but what you actually purchase is... an entry in your Steam library, which acts as a pre-order. It would lead to abuses.

Correct but in any case, as pointed, that paragraph isn't new at all.

This reads like a reasonable reading.

I have Pillars of Eternity on Steam (the base game).
I have Pillars of Eternity on Twitch (the Definitive edition).

I don't like using Twitch for games that aren't super short "play and forget" types, definitely don't feel like playing long stuff with it (since it hasn't even cloud saves and I know myself, I pause and continue games all the time).
Was waiting for some way to get the White March DLCs cheaply on Steam, but recently I had an idea:

What if I install the game on Steam, and copy the Twitch version over it (not replacing anything, essentially just the DLCs). :02think:
I haven't tried it yet, since I don't plan on playing it right now, but someone on the Steam forums had the same idea and it actually seems to work.
Nice~

Are there achievements for the DLC? If so, it could be risky no?

Really feeling the age of my 970 on Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Heavily GPU limited. Fun game, but whew those frame drops. And even if I limit the frame rate to 30 it sometimes will drop frames anyway, even though it runs between 40 and 50 in the same areas unlocked.

I would recommend dropping some settings down if not turning them off like Shadows. Assuming you hadn't done that yet :x

fantomena Starlink looks enjoyable.

For future reference, just to confirm, in order to have all the content (available on PC; I know the Switch version has the StarFox content), I need the Deluxe Edition, and those 2 expensive DLCs, right?
Damn, that is expensive. o_O

Deluxe + Pack 2 I think.

iirc. deluxe includes all from pack 1 already and few more. Thus if you buy standard, you never can get everything.

Thank you. (y)
At least one of the weapons is listed differently from the Deluxe Edition to that Pack 1.

Clearly, it's too much to ask that Ubisoft would post a note saying "Pack 1 included in the Deluxe Edition". Or, even better, if Pack 1 showed up in your DLC tab, so that you couldn't purchase it by mistake.

Why do I feel many of these companies do these things on purpose, so that people may purchase again content they already own?

Alright, so I've put a bit over an hour into Immortal Planet (currently in the Humble RPG bundle, 1$)
and it's very enjoyable.

Essentiall a 2D sci-fi souls like.

"Bonfires" (cryopods here) to respawn and level-up, methodical stamina-based combat, challenging enemies, unlockable shortcuts, item descriptions telling you about the world (and the world is pretty interesting), you name it.
So far it's very good.

Nba 2k games are such an anomly
If anything it shows a dire need of a basketball game that is not riddled with mtx
It would certainly help if people that dislike this would stop fucking buying them.

It's like CoD for me. Every year 2K makes NBA shittier and shittier and shittier, if you bought more than two NBA2K games in the past 4 or so years you have only yourself to blame.

Thought budgeted, it is a decent Twin Stick Shooter
Wait what? This is a fucking twin stick shooter???

That's the perplexing bit: people know they are going to be nickel-and-dimmed, people know they are locking more and more content and functionalities behind microtransactions, and "virtual" currency, and they know the online modes can disappear after as little as a year, yet... they continue to buy them.

It's been years since I bought an NBA 2K title, exactly because of this.
