I ended up getting Six Ages on iOS since I had some iTunes cards unredeemed, and it's pretty cool so far. Can't speak to the PC port obviously, but it seems like it'll hold my attention for a while.
that's good to hear! :) thanks for the impressions

Look at all you people with your money to buy things that are things other than food and shelter
Funny you say that ! I for one don't know how I will be able to eat with two more weeks, ahahah ! Will have to make blank checks and pray the bank pay them and asks me to honor them a few days later. But eh, we lost 100 euros from new taxes on our already super tight and catastrophic budget. This is all so fun :partyblob:

Also what "choice"? I Assume that only matters when you do the worst one which is choose 3 of the 10 games? The whole thing makes no sense.

I dont understand. What is "Premium"? $19.99 USD
You'll have to wait for this to roll out so we can get a better understanding of it tbh.
Form what I am gathering
Pay $20, get 9 games. Whether you can CHOOSE what these 10 games are is the big question
Because you know I'll be grabbing me loads of them big games of 2019 that I didn't get yet :V

I just hope that you can still pause a subscription and not lose the classic version when you do pause.

You will lose access to your Classic plan and benefits if you choose to cancel your subscription at any point after or prior to the release of Humble Choice. Pausing your subscription is fine, and you will not cause you to lose access to Classic for doing so.

They will probably have a pool of 15 ~ 20 games for users to pick, with majority of them changing every month but some staying over. This is my speculation, mind you.

Is there anything that makes premium better than classic? It seems that classic is better
Classic is better but I dont think you’ll be able to sub to it unless you’re a Monthly subscriber beforehand.

Like after Choice lanches, if you arent subbed you can only choose from the other 3 options, with Classic only being available as a loyalty thing for existing owners.

Honestly premium should give 10 games as well, its kind of silly Classic gets an extra game ontop of the 40% sub discount.

If I'm reading this right you get to choose 10 games each month to keep, if you're already a monthly subscriber. However there's no mention of how big the pool of games is each month or how "good" they are. Seems very fishy.
I'm also willing to bet the last monthly before they rollout this change will have the shittiest upfront reveals ever. It'll basically be a buy this things you don't want in order to get a better deal in the future (that you also don't know if you'll want)...

I wonder if when your classic subscription runs out if you can resubscribe at classic or not. For example I have 5 months left on my sub, when that runs out am I forced to pay $8 more per month?

Why not just drip feed reveal all games throughout the month where everything slowly gets revealed right b4 the next monthly. That would have been much better than this confusing mess.

Now its basically keep track of pausing and unpausing every month like a lunatic if you want the 10 game benefit. Otherwise cough up more $$$ for...less games?

Such a weird and greedy change overall. Especially with the basic tier.

No Windows 10 here. ;)
You can still upgrade for free. And I'm seeing more and more Steam games requiring 10, it'll get 'worse' (personally I'm all for abandoning old OS' if there's an alternative) fast come next year.

In the video they say 'as long as you're subscribed'.

I don't mind the idea that you can now choose the games in the monthly and that there are two tiers.

But the price increase is just ridiculous.

And Windows 10 is decent. Not missing 7 in the slightest tbh

You can only access the Classic subscription if you're already subscribed when they switch from Monthly to Choices so it's a special price... I think...
Looks like I will be keeping my sub to get the 40% discount and one extra game

I got a survey asking about this change months ago and I told them I didn't like it (due to price changes). I also told them that the trove doesn't hold as much value to customers as they think it does.

I get that they want to force users like me to stay subscribed, but what happens once our subs start dropping and we don't jump in on the $20 subscription? Seems rough. Regular Humble Bundles are going to take an even bigger hit.

So new subscribers are paying more (a little, or almost 60%, depending if they go for Basic or Premium), and getting less games than subscribers have been used to by now?
Good luck with that.

Clearly, this is done so that current subscribers don't cancel their subscriptions, not much more.
Is anyone really expecting the selection of games will signficantly increase in terms of value, quality, and title selection, enough to justify a $7 increase?

And, since "Basic" subscribers will now pay almost $15 a month for 3 games (and a 10% discount in the store), are there really that many people who are going to pay $5 for each game?

I have to see how it all works but it sounds like this deal is better if (like me) you are already subbed every month. Like if I get to choose games you can just choose the most expensive. Still want to know what happens when my current subscription runs out next year though.

  • Subscription to the Trove catalogue:
    • $5/month.
  • Choose 3 games among the games offered in the Monthly bundle:
    • $15/month, which is a 25% price increase for a ~70% content decrease.
  • Monthly bundle:
    • current subscribers keep their current plan, until they cancel once,
    • new subscribers have to pay $20/month, which is a 66% price increase.

Just took a quick peek but it seems like we will have a selection of games and we will be able to keep a number of them depending on the sub.
And classic is for people that keep their subs, at the first wiff of a cancelation I'm guessing 'classic' disappears. Fidelity / transition deal if you prefer.

I assume the "pause" a month happens before the reveal of all the games? Otherwise you can just pause after you know whats in and a lot of people will obviously pause.

Longterm it's just a good old price increase thinly disguised with 'more options'. Being able to choose between games sounds good but the price is much higher for everyone not in yet and we know nothing about how big the pool of games to choose from will be.

I mean, with my country on the brink of collapse, it's either buying games now or literally never. I might be exaggerating a little, but I'm honestly trying to get them while I can.

I also have a little self-control problem, but that's another story :p

20$ per month is just way too much for any gaming subscription. Just use that 20$ and buy wtvr you want every month. That is 240$ per year unless you give them 180$ up front. Just use all that money and play what you want off your wishlist instead of what Humble curates for you.

I mean 180-240$ during a steam sale will shave off a lot of your wishlist. A lot.

Unless Humble starts putting up very high value games like the recent Activision stuff the basic and premium tiers are a joke. The basic is straight up insulting.

The Classic+ plan seems good (depending on their game selection of course) but the others aren't that hot.
And I wonder if you drop out of Classic+ if you're pausing a month. (Edit: You apparently don't. That's good.)

You bet your butt that they'll need more recently released big games if they want to do it like that.
I already don't bother with 95% of the games they offer and I like weird indie stuff, no way I'm going to pay even more money to feed the giveaways thread.

The choice selection is a good idea, but it obviously depends on what they propose... and it's the worst idea ever for indies.
Why would you pick a random 9.99 game when you get can choose the AAA from last year?

I suppose the first one is gonna be lit.
Would it be worth signing up for it now just to ensure grandfather and then pausing (if it's allowed) going forward? That first month will be some kinda spyro/cod/crash level me thinks if they want to draw people in

I do hope with the price increase they will get higher profile games in their bundles. Else it's too expensive. I will keep my classic subscription to have the lower price
