Just finished reading the review and it's definitely good, fun read.
I agree about the industry scale, it's skewed but it is what it is. I'm sure most reviewers at this point are aware that anything below 7 will mean most people skipping the game.
Yeah, I have found that we "average" close to a seven.
I don't think of that as boosting or being too high. I agree in principle that most games are "good." That is, the games that we would be willing to review as we don't target shovelware or "asset flips." That market called mobile? FORGETABOUTIT!
When my staff wants to start handing out 9's and 10's is when they really start raising eyebrows. Ok, two things: 1. is the game actually that good 2. is your writing skill capable of convincing your reader (me) that the game is that good?
I
wanted to give Katana ZERO a 9, but that
to be continuedending! So 8.5 it is.
It'll be interesting to see when the first moneyhats enter steam. Will they just dump them at full price? Big goodwill launch discount? Wouldn't be surprised if Epic has some conditions for after the year is up. No price differentials etc... Maybe launch as a 2.0/extended/reboot edition? Hadas is probably doing it the least worst way, EA on Epic and full launch on steam, possibly.
I'll push a bit more. Remember how the Wii U was getting like, Mass Effect 3 when PS3/60 was getting the Mass Effect Trilogy Collection?
I wonder about that. Like, will Steam be launching with vanilla versions of these games or "GOTY" editions? Will the staggered launch incentivise publishers/developers to release additional content ON PURPOSE to make full price more marketable?
Maybe we're saying the same thing, lol.
But that's why EGS selling like, Metro and Hades at below $10 is catching my attention, because it's not going to get better than that, and if it does, how much longer after a year will that take? I'm asking for the cream de la creme games. Not a game like Ashen, where I can wait.
